It's normal people who have school, college, work, family, etc. Some come and go and then others come and go, and the cycle repeats. It's indefinite but they have stated to plan to centralize movements in Washington DC and other people worldwide are uniting for the common cause. They have a Wikileaks van with enough data to bring down the entire US government but that would be really stupid if they chose to release it, since it would do more damage than good. I think humans are more capable nowadays than just throwing shit at each other like their ancestors. I really don't know what to think about the current situation, I'm too busy with work and family to be involved. I am worried about the consistent change of the human global consciousness, the way things are they can't continue for long. I thought things wouldn't get this bad until around 2020 but it seems that Dasrik was right and humans have less time than they think.

So basically, it's a rotating free for all organized movement? I was thinking about this during the Egyptian protests, too. How are that many people able to sit in on a protest? Of course, the heavy unemployment doesn't hurt it much either.

It's entertaining and I've been watching the live feed all night. I really hope it catches on, but at the same time I think they need to set more specific demands, or at least state specificity what they're protesting. I'm sure they have done that somewhere, but their protest has to actually go somewhere, cause it can't just go on forever.

Just hoping everyone comes out of this safe, and the police violence and abuse of power doesn't get much worse than what I saw in those videos. But I've got a bad feeling this is gonna go downhill real soon and real fast.

wow, what an embarrassment that is to this country. Macing a bunch of girls for protesting? C'mon on what grounds? Police have been spiraling out of control for to long, and this whole mob mentality of saftey at any cost is shitting on what is left of the constitution.

have any of you seen that new navy commercial. where they go on about being a global force, that is, they are the world's police on the high seas and in other area's. Didn't Eisenhower warn us about this sort of activity?

As for health care, I don't see it lasting, nor getting an actual solution to it. Look at the peanut gallery celebrate and cheer for death

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/09/12/tea-party-debate-health-care_n_959354.html

I bet if it was poor little Jimmy they would scoop and receive all the free health care they could.

And as for the economy? I don't see it getting better. More and more jobs are being exported, there are more and more people being born into a society with diminishing positions for work. And the education system is a system based on profit and gain, making school a much more difficult thing to pursuit.

And US involvement and continued support of Mexican drug cartels is very disturbing. Very, very, very disturbing.

Hundreds of activists have been gradually converging on Wall Street over the past two weeks to rally against the influence of corporate money in politics among other issues.

Really it just sounds more like a bunch of angry people being angry for no particular cause other than to be angry. They need a leader so they can perform actual change.

Wow. I have not heard this on any of the news channels that I usually keep up with--not CNN or NPR. Odd, since you'd think that protests on Wall Street would generate a bit more publicity. I'm interested since I spent 5 years in NY, so hopefully things don't randomly devolve into chaos, like that wave of protests/violence/vandalism that hit Britain recently.

I'm still shocked that wall street is still up and running...

At the very least, the US financial system needs a complete overhaul. Too many buddy's allowing for lax laws, and insane shot like allowing the federal reserve to be run by guys working at banks.

Is anyone keeping up with the current situation?

Things (important issues) to expand on:
    1) Economic Situation in the US (and relevance to global economy)
    2) US military involvement in other parts of the world
    3) Decent health care unavailable to many Americans.
    4) Failing education system, college loan system degraded to indentured servant system.
    etc

    1. The global economy is in dire straights. The fact that they keep printing more money and buying debt with that money and NOT nationalizing the banks here in the US, is the biggest mistake that the bankers/wall street/treasury keeps making. But that in itself exposes the fact that the people running the US economic policy are practically in bed with wall street. GROSS conflict of interest.

    2. We are everywhere, that we need to be. Either for our own national interest/security or for "others" (china I'm looking at you)

3.The so called health care system here and in general world wide is a sham. Not only is the cost ever increasing, but the reach is ever dwindling. Has no one noticed the Cymbalta ad being pushed for pain? WHY would you prescribe an anti-depressant for pain?!!!

    4. Dont get me started on education. Especially on Rick Perrys bullshit policy/bait of giving illegals 100k in free higher education. WTF?!
    I dont even....what?

Interesting note on education: your state university does not want you.

Basically they make more money off out of state students and international ones. So everyday people are getting shafted for out of state dumbasses with cash.

-The widening gap between the rich and middle class. It's becoming even harder to become wealthy, as jobs are being cut or outsourced, wages stagnating or reduced. At this rate, there will be the rich, and the lower class, with no inbetween.

-Tech companies "hoarding" patents to protect themselves from lawsuits. This stunts innovation, and reduces potential jobs that could have been created. There is also a patent processing problem in general. It takes so much time and money to get a patent applied for. I hope This should changes immediately.

-It seems recently (probably within the last 10-20 years), that men have been getting the short end of the stick. Too many double standards where men get shafted or abused, and people turn a blind eye. It seems that people in general think that men should take this "punishment," but there is only so much you can take.

-Terrible family environment. IMO, it takes 2 people to raise children; I know there are exceptions, but if you look at many single parent homes, there is a hostile environment. The kids probably aren't doing well in school, or are getting in trouble, while the parent has to work to support their kids where they have little time to be around them, to bring them up to respectability. Kids will learn more from others than a single parent. With the divorce rate at 50%, it doesn't look like it is going to get any better.

Random conspiracy theory rant of the day. I figured this was as good a place as any to rant.:rock::rock:Basically, a lot of politicians say the economic problems are caused by social security. Some even want to get rid of it.

I was talking with one of my old friends recently the other day. He's around my age -27- and currently doesn't work. Even though he's fairly old, 3 of his original grandparents are still alive. All three of the grandparents live together in one tiny apartment and split their social security checks into one enormous pot. Does anyone know how much his grandparents are making just in social security alone? Approximately 20,000 a year each for a whopping total of 60,000. All of his grandparents are in excellent shape and don't have any medical problems. They pay for his apartment, car, video game expenses you name it. The grandparents donate the rest of the money to their church and other religious groups. He does nothing, and is paid by other people-his grandparents- who get paid to do nothing.

A lot of religious and ethnic groups in America/Europe actually explicitly say that's like "their strategy in life". Keep as many old people alive and healthy as possible. Hopefully they won't have to spend any of their social security money on medical expenses. Spend the rest of your left over social security money exclusively on young people of your religion or ethnic group. Basically the religious/ethnic group with the most old people alive becomes the most rich group. All the young people who don't know any old people are shit out of luck.

Any of you guys ever watch the show Pawn stars? *chuckles* That show owes it's success to social security. lol none of those antique collectors that buy all those crappy antiques are young. Nobody would ever pay their hard earned money on that sort of junk. A ton of old people go crazy at those auctions buying stuff for nostalgic reasons because they didn't have to work for the money. 2,000 on a mickey mouse lamp, sure why not!!! I can't believe that show is so successful and popular with young people. I find it "weird" that I'm the only person annoyed with that show.

Here's a brilliant idea I read on a political blog. I actually seriously think it's a brilliant and not silly or stupid. Old people should get the same amount of social security money as before but there should be restrictions on how they spend the money.
If they have serious medical problems, they should be able to spend their money for surgeries and operations. The medical field would prosper in a huge way from social security just like the current system.
BUT, any social security, and rent/living related expenses should only be allowed to be spent on services and goods provided by young people. For example, old person homes should be run exclusively by people under age of thirty five. Any restaurants they go to should be staffed by exclusively young people. A policy like that would slice the unemployment statistics in half.

In the current system, I don't really blame young people in countries like the UK for rioting. What else are they supposed to do? The system favors old people so hard core.

Yeah yeah US and Global troubles. Random thoughts:

    - What I find most troubling is how people keep saying "Double dip recession". We never left the first one. Ever. I can't think of one individual around me that has felt financially secure since all this has started going down.

    - And yeah, OMG Congress what the fuck. It's like we are going from drinking water to drinking our own piss to survive. This magic money to fix the nation's issues need to stop.

    - It seems everyone in the world is yearning for a future that our current system cannot support. It scares the shit out of me that other countries want the same middle class American dream when ours is falling apart. Like if we can't do it how can two nations of a billion+ people each do it?

    - Vladimir Putin wants to be Prime Minister again? How do the Russian people stand for their government? What good are the laws when the leaders can so blatantly wipe their ass with them? If you spent years under such a whack system as soviet communism how can the people stand for such bullying today? Are they even more spineless than the average American? Also Russian aviation regulations must be ultra ass.

    - I won't even pretend to understand the patent wars going on but omg wtf is this shit nuts. Like what the hell were we doing before all of this when it came to inventions?

    - Women can vote in Saudi Arabia. Hot damn. But why can't they drive still? I'm entirely baffled by this.

    - And to come full circle. If this world's financial situation is shaky ground when the fuck are we as a people going to stop living a life that we can't afford? I won't even front. I'm hella guilty of this too.
where yo tear drop at, gangsta? I'm so hard my cheeks look like i've been watching a lifetime movie marathon so what's really hood. - Monte

Well Anon posted the family info on the cop who pepper sprayed the protester. Good for them. I am usually rather pro cop but that guy's actions garnered looks from other officers. He holds a position of authority not only over the people but also other officers in his precinct. He has the old school asshole cop mentality where they think that they are untouchable to the common person. While I hope they stay safe and honesty don't think that his children are in any danger, I hope that the speed in which the entire country found out where his child goes to school resonates with him and weighs heavy enough on his mind to not only effect his future actions but to make him advise other officers who share his same mentality.

That's all the more reason to get behind the cause. If I was you I would spread the word around everywhere you could. Social networking cites, friends etc. Anything to get people's attention, and get the thinking and talking. And the government is trying to cut back on this, and privatize it even more along with social security. So they can really make money off of people like you, who need medicine to survive. It's sad. That's why I sure as hell am not going to vote Republican in the next election.

It's not on the news because the corporations and people who own the news do not want people to see what is happening. They don't want people to think or get ideas, they want to show them violence and give them fear. Don't believe me? Watch the news and see the stories. Another murder, another accident, another raping/molesting/fire etc. Do they show scenes of people protesting, or talk about local government or political corruption. Hardly ever, maybe the slightest mention.

Same thing with national news. It's all run by people who don't want their names, or those of their friends, or people they support shown in a bad light.

lol this is such a fun idea to think about. Kinda like how my brother allways argues that we should have simply let the south succeed in the civil war. we would have the liberal countries with good education, infastructure etc. and we would have the festering shithole of the south with no regulations... then of course the more conservative liberals would be talking about building fences to keep the south out haha.

This is the response. Way more liberal than the democratic party, AND YET they are also much more conservative. They are demanding justice, while the so called conservatives in America and corporations are trying AND SUCCEEDING in getting away with theft. If they were ordinary people like you and me they'd be in jail, but instead they get away with it. They got away with stealing government revenue and put it in their own pockets.

So the liberals are demanding justice "calling for the rule of law, and demanding the restoration of the rule of law", and the conservatives have seized power and are becoming radical and using corporatism, to widen the gap between the rich and the poor to bring back a kind of feudalistic oligarchy (a few ruling elite, who got the lower class working for them).

Which sounds more conservative and which sounds more radical?

I had blogged about this shit earlier but no one responded. I want opinions and feedback.
Occupy Wallstreet (or how this shit is convoluted as fuck)

First of all I want to say that two wrongs don’t make a right. In no way do I justify the actions of the New York police Dept. or the various groups “occupying Wallstreet”
I realize that people are angry regarding the current state of politics. Why would you organize a protest now, of all times? What are you even trying to accomplish? Why didn’t organizers wait it out and spread the word and get this going all over the US?
Both sides of this argument piss me off. The police are handling this in the worst way possible. Attacking innocent people with mace? Arresting people? What the fuck? Protect and serve but don’t hurt people for expressing discontent with current system of government unless they are hurting someone else. Corporations losing money does not fucking count as “hurting someone else”.
I’m not even sure that’s the case though. I see the videos of police brutality but I’m not seeing much else? What is going on in New York that I am missing? i want to see all angles of the story.
From a spectators view, I see a lot of people being beat up by cops for a “peaceful protest”. That seems to be pretty valid. Why are 80 percent of you people there in the first place however? Where the fuck were you when Bush got elected for his second term? THE PEOPLE didn’t choose that. Electoral college did. If we were going to riot and start mass protests where were you then? American won’t even have a revolution. We’re too fucking lazy. My mom is highly religious. She told me tonight if freedom of religion was taken away she wouldn’t revolt but simply tell whoever occupied the country that she assimilated to whatever religion was accepted but would keep her beliefs to herself. What the fuck? I’m an atheist and I wouldn’t put up with that for a second. Why doesn’t modern society give a fuck anymore?
In conclusion, I hate to say it but occupying wallstreet doesn’t mean shit. It won’t mean shit. Not enough media coverage already. It’s 10 days in, and the only place I get updates on it is the internet. I’ve seen 2 or 3 minor news reports on local news relating to the subject. Better luck next time. Try to make something happen when the stakes are higher. Try doing this closer to the Presidential election and have a centralized goal. No one is paying attention right now. Everyone is busy watching GOP debates and new Fall shows. This is America. Don’t you fucks know better by now?

I had blogged about this shit earlier but no one responded. I want opinions and feedback.

I was pretty intoxicated when I wrote this so forgive the profanity.

I'd say this article by David Graeber sums it up pretty nice.

"Why are people occupying Wall Street? Why has the occupation – despite the latest police crackdown – sent out sparks across America, within days, inspiring hundreds of people to send pizzas, money, equipment and, now, to start their own movements called OccupyChicago, OccupyFlorida, in OccupyDenver or OccupyLA?
There are obvious reasons. We are watching the beginnings of the defiant self-assertion of a new generation of Americans, a generation who are looking forward to finishing their education with no jobs, no future, but still saddled with enormous and unforgivable debt. Most, I found, were of working-class or otherwise modest backgrounds, kids who did exactly what they were told they should: studied, got into college, and are now not just being punished for it, but humiliated – faced with a life of being treated as deadbeats, moral reprobates.
Is it really surprising they would like to have a word with the financial magnates who stole their future?"

Read the rest here. Please. It's really good.

@Crayons760, do you get it yet? Now its your choice to be a cynic or to show some support. There are protests going on in other places in US and around the world right now. The people aren't going to let it fail so easy.

Very well written article. Shout outs for that. So, the general message of this protest is discontent with current state of govt and economics? Like an, " I'm mad as hell., and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" thing?

This is an insane battle they have started. I supported but the enemy is a lot harder to deal with than the Vietnam protests just because people have spent so much time in a forced ignorance that they cannot conceptualize what is happening. Its similar to explaining that there are a lot of reason have hate for the U.S. for reasons that are incredibly valid; plenty of people won't understand that the CIA and our government has fucked so many countries over that we might as well be afraid of everybody because we have probably dicked them at one point or another.

Its in the same way with a lot of the larger corporations and the 2 party system: people don't know how hard they've been fucked because they just aren't aware of how hard the fucking is. It's like they have the world's greatest shock absorbers in their brains to support the fucking they constantly get.

I'd say it is more of a "our government isn't working, lets change it and make it work for us." kind of thing. Or a "It's our world, it's our life, let's do it our way." But that's my opinion, and I'm sure that there's lots of anger and hatred in there as well. Who wouldn't be pissed with the things that have gone on.

I'm sad because I'll only get to watch this from the sidelines. I am in college and I'm over a thousand miles away. I won't be able to do anything until at least winter.

People, relax. The economy goes into recession every 3-5 years, the real estate market tanks about every 10-15 years, commodities every 20-25 years, and we have a major depression every 60-80 years. Sometimes one or more of these cycles hit us at the same time and they seem bad. But it is good for us in the long run. Right now shitty business owners are losing their businesses because they suck. Workers are losing jobs, the weak and useless will end up dead or in jail, cleansing society of the people who are holding us back. Those who are desperate and have nowhere to go but up will create the businesses that will propel and employ the next several generations. Those with their hands out looking for freebies from the government will rightly starve because the governments of the world are broke. Just like in the last depression, the next generation of millionaires and billionaires will emerge. There is a reason why 10% of the people of the world control 90% of the wealth, only 10% of the people of the world learn the skill of how to create something out of nothing, how to create wealth out of an idea. The other 90% spend their day angry at people they don't know, blaming others for their lack of success. If you have nothing, if you are poor, if you suffer, it is because you suck and you have failed. It is never too late to decide to not suck anymore. But you have to take the first step and accept responsibility for where you are in life.

Can you tell that to my Uncle who worked 18+ years as a construction worker. And got fired because some morons in wall street where stroking each other, and when people found them faced covered in cum they denied it ever happened?

Jasin, as much as I appreciate your go-getter style post, I cannot agree with it.

The US has brought much of its current ailments on itself. Your mass consumerism, acceptance to lifelong debt, ruthless capitalism and "I want it so I must have it NOW" attitude has caused much of today's issues. Don't get me wrong, I'm a green card holder and I enjoy the US for what it's worth, but actually living and raising my kids? I wouldn't do that in the US, no way. The US is too busy playing police in the rest of their world, playing police as long is it's for a cause that's for their self-interest.

You mention creating wealth out of an idea, and you mention the 20%/80% ratio (eventhough you use 10% and 90% respecetively), but how many people get fucked over in that process? It's not sustainable business model for anybody, and it's exactly why much of the US is hated across the world. The only way to build something sustainable is by creating a pie that's big enough for everybody to have a better quality of life, but in the US only the most shrewd, most unforgiving methods bring real changes. And unfortunately you deem it to be completely acceptable in your debt ridden society.

I see you are good friend with the Lannisters, Lord Walraven. You would say these things considering that, unlike the Lannisters, the Walravens have been known to never have enough to pay their debts; it must be good to have friends in positions of such influence.

Seriously though, considering that a good chunk of the wealth consists of hand me downs, people protecting hand me downs and a bunch of crazy middle eastern people who happened on oil, it seems like you are talking a whole lot of nonsense.

Let me guess. You must be one of those guys who wants to bust up the workers unions because the fat cats brain washed you, which is essentially destroying the greatest thing to come from of your area of the US. Good luck with your 60+ hour work week, and I hope that the privatized social security raises the age limit to 75 that way you can really earn your success.

The above is speculation based on your post.

One more thing is that we aren't all Bill Gates or the guy who created facebook. When there are people in the US who are working for an honest living and still aren't making it, then there are problems. Your argument is invalid. Most of the rich and super rich started off relatively well to begin with, and they continue to earn they're success by oppressing others. We can't all be rich right? Gotta keep the poor man down so we can have the life we want. Just so you know, as is, there are corporations that outsource to other countries to make a few bucks more in profit. Everyone knows that without laws to protect workers rights, employment in the US would basically indentured slavery to a higher degree.

I sure hope for your children's sake that people don't end up looking at them like the human waste that you apparently view your fellow human beings as.

No problem. I'm going to give it a couple more days, then consolidate the information. If anyone wants to help do that then they can and I will entail that information in the first post. Lets try to avoid walls of text. Pictures/charts/diagrams are encouraged. Include source(s) of information where applicable. Remember to keep the point as simple and clear as possible so that as many people could understand as possible.

Lets also avoid responding to trolls and replying with reaction pictures/smilies/etc.

I'm not on some corporate hatefest, I'm not mad at them for exporting jobs, they're just going for their own self interest just like they are supposed to in a (mostly) capitalist society....

But the government going out of their way to keep companies afloat is a problem, let them deal with failure just like everyone else has to in America when no one wants their products and services.....

This "jobs will trickle down to middle and lower class people by throwing money at the problem" nonsense has to stop......
I'm guessing she was probably too in shock at what happened to even know what to do. Its not every day you get slapped in the face with a penis.

have you noticed that the democratic party is much more war mongering than the republican?

The problem with this emerging party is that if it doesn't get what it wants its going to get it the hard way, because it seems like a movment pushed by and organized by the people.

Its also important to note that they may call the rule of law, but which rule of law? If they push this rule of law, its easy for it to spiral out of control and radicalism takes over. The conservatives, will push for their own rule of law and it will be just as radical.

I also find it sad that people praise Regan so much, when he is responsible for all of this mess, and the coming shit storm.

To be honest, the conservative Tea Party sound more liberal than the liberal party. Progressiveness in the 1800's lead to capitalism, which led to a type of socialism. If that socialism is taken to the extreme you get radical states like Nazi Germany.

idk what your snipping, you keep snipping me.

    This is the political spectrum

    /
    /
    /
    /
    /
    Left, Liberal, Moderate, Conservative, Right

    left= marxist, communist, socialist
    liberal=good lol,
moderate= democrats (maybe a tiny bit liberal), and lazy uninformed ppl
    conservative= republicans
    right= military, nazi, facist

I find it ironic that christians are conservatives and generally vote republican, and most republican candidates back christianity, AND YET if Jesus was a politician he would most definitely be liberal. Think about it.

The right which is extremely military, and extremely power oriented and elite oriented is where you turn into Nazi Germany. Like the Tea Party, they're closer to Nazi's than anybody out there on Wall Street right now (unless there is Nazis down there lol.)

By rule of law I meant the constitution, and the judicial system. That people should be governed by justice not by greed and money. That even criminals in positions of power be held accountable for their actions.

Sorry for the bad explanations, it's late and I'm ignoring my girlfriend on the phone who lives in another city to write this. Hopefully you get what I meant earlier.

Funny thing is that many conservative Christians are trying their hardest to change that image of Christ into one that would resemble a Tea Party member. It's rather sad actually. They have already tried to say that he was rich, this was after turning him into a European for centuries.

They aren't and that's the problem. Fucking weird that they media would squash a riot just like that but, it just gives me more reasons to go to prison planet and look at all the links crazy ass Alex Jones posts. His show is daffy and views hysterical at times, but god damn it if they don't spend a lot of time linking to legit news sources with good articles; fucking weirdest shit ever. Although even they weren't covering the riots on wall street on their news section (not a conspiracy person, just like checking out what groups are about).
