Just wondering but which amps are you guys running through?

I've been looking at getting either a blackstar HT 40 or 20 and an AC15.

    Carvin Legacy.

It's nice for overdrive where it's still clean with enough smooth chopping of the guitar signal, but it doens't do heavy distortion well. I'm limited to a pedal and 4 in overdrive before the signal is cut too much and you get a really nasty choppy distortion. It does have a really nice heavy and thick overdrive, but you are limited to what kind of sound you want to push.

in the Clean department though it does about everything. Good fat mid, or twangy treble if that's what you want. Bass, not so much, the signal is too muddy. Another reason why you can' have good fat distortion since that requires low mid ranges.

I have a blackstar, forgot the model, but it's tube and fucking loud. I haven't used it in almost a year because it's so fucking loud, but it sounds so damn good compared to my roland cube solid state, but for noodling around, I actually prefer the cube.

Anyway guys, I have reached another plateau and have stopped giving a shit about progressing in learning more stuff, more so scales. I now just want to learn how to play songs until I get the urge to want to learn more. So I've been trying to find Japanese metal tablature books and even sheet music books but it seems like no one on the net sells them or maybe they don't make them anymore. Anyone recommend any online stores that carry books for Jrock/visual kei stuff? Kinda sick of glancing over my smart phone for tabs and it strains my eyes having to do so. I just want a regular size book that I can put on my stand.

Walked into a Guitar Center yesterday to check it out.....think I'm going to start playing Bass again. While there is a lot of info out there now compared to when I started, I was still unsure if I wanted to do it since the "end game" for me was whatever. Been looking at vids from artists I remember reading about in Bass Player and the sound of the bass is too good.

Looking at the Sterling Music Man S.U.B. My instructor would use one back in the day when it was called Ernie Ball(?) and I loved the sound along with having the center of the body open because of where the pick-ups are. They are having a sale right now, but hopefully another one with the holidays and what not pretty much here.

Gonna get a jump back onto sheet music and theory in the meantime.

I am about to sell my ibanez rg to help pay my property tax off, its been sitting in its case for months and after using my esp, its not comfortable going back and forth between the different neck profiles, last time I played the rg, the tendons in my hand were hurting. Its a great guitar and I can see why people love playing it but I think at this point later on, I'll probably stick with the Japanese esp/Edwards brand. Other than that, I might get my schecter guitar set up after I swap out the pups for emgs

Grabbing that Bass was the best thing. Rekindled my love for music a little, and getting reacquainted with my favorites Mr. Bungle and Faith No More. Takes me back to 8th grade and freshman year.

'Before Summer' is the deadline to be able to play Squeeze Me Macaroni. Song is ridiculous as I remember it.

    Bass cover

Picked up a SUB series all black bass with rosewood fret board. There's no finish on the body just wood and paint, lol. I originally wanted the maple fret board, which was all black with a finished body. I was regretting not getting the blue and black body one since it was more 'fun', but I feel all black was the safer choice. Picked up a Fender 25w amp which was overkill for the space I have but at least it's future proof.

Working on scales and sight reading right now. Blues scale is my favorite right now.

Hey so I almost got e harmonic minor down. What's a good phrygian scale to go with for the metal?

    harmonic minor

the thing about phrygian scale is that they are mode's.

I'm not sure how mode's really work, except that depending on what the underlying chord progression is based on what scale, you can get different feels and sounds.

Hey guys, selling my ibanez in the trading post after reading guitar center is like the GameStop of video game resell. My other option is play it again music store which would be probably worse. Don't want to resort to selling it on eBay either as its in the same ball park of getting bent over. Great guitar if you love the fast necks!

Sold it just now. Lost a bit of money but the guitar never got played. I think from now on, I'll stick with ESP. Enjoy playing my Edwards Maiden but I think to replace the ibanez, I might get a ESP Forest GT later on. Still need to do some work on the schecter.

    stupid question about strings.
i broke my B3 string, most bass string on my cuatro and i needed to buy that string. but i wouldnt even know what to call it other than the cuatro B3 string.
    well anyway, my question is...
are strings universal for all plucked instruments?
for example...the B3 string on a cuatro.....is exactly the same as a lets say...D3 string on a acoustic guitar?
its hard to articulate what im trying to say.
but is like strings universal? and you can take a string from a mandolin, put it on a guitar, even if the position isnt the same.?
because if i wanna go string shopping...
it doesnt matter the instrument just the string size?

in other words when i go string shopping on ebay. i dont need to input the instrument in the search bar, just the string size?

Different strings for different instruments. You can't put a Uke's strings on a bass and vice versa. Just search for your instruments strings.

here are the string sizes for the puerto rican cuatro guitar.
    from low to high pitch.
wait..first i have to write the pitch for each strong low to high.
keep in mind they are 5 pairs of strings, grouped in pairs. that makes 10 strings.

    B3 B2-E4 E3-A3 A3-D4 D4-G4 G4...........letters are notes and numbers rep octaves
now the string sizes in the same order. low to high
    .024 .042-.014 .032-.024 .024-.014 .014-.011 .011

notice how the pairs of strings mirror each other on the high end but at the bass end they dont.
on the bass end the B3 and E4 strings are a higher octave and using strings of higher pitches.

I don't know much about the cuatro, it uses nylon strings right? Generally strings are grouped by the gauge and you could use a nylon string from a nylon string guitar on a Quattro as long as the gauge was about right. Same thing with guitar strings. If, for example you had a lighter set of strings but broke a b string on a medium set, you could use the G string from the lighter set as the B string on the medium set because the gauge is probably about similar. Your mileage may vary but there's a bit of overlap depending on the type of string.
