UPDATE - 09.11.2007
SRK now has its very own
Video Gallery forum. Instead of everyone starting new threads in FGD whenever they have a video to announce, there's now an entire forum dedicated to premiering and discussing vids. As such, the FGD mods are no longer going to allow people to create video threads in the Fighting Game Discussion forum. However, if you would like a little extra exposure for your project, feel free to announce it in this thread in addition to announcing it in the video forum.
I don't spend as much time finding/watching fighting game videos as i did a couple of years ago, but i still find good stuff now and then. Some of it deserves some discussion so i figured i'd start a thread. If you find something cool that hasn't been posted yet, don't be shy - especially if it's CvS2.
Never ever direct link to multimedia. If it's a foreign language site and the link isn't clearly visible, just provide a link to the homepage and describe how to find the video link. It's just common courtesy.
So to start things off ... Zerokoubou just released Vol 6 - a combo video for SFA1.
homepage:

movie page:

commentary:
There is so much crazy shit going on in this vid! At the end of the first combo, he actually manages to do two lvl3 supers against Bison, i think by doing them at the same time so that both start up before the super meter cost is taken away. James Chen did something similar with a 2-hit SFA3 Rolento/Blanka combo using the startup on Blanka's watermelon super.
The Bison combos in this video are absolutely insane. Of course the one at 1:53 rocks (where he does four fireballs in one combo) but the one at 2:23 is even more crazy because he somehow gets j.HK to hit TWICE and then does the same thing with c.LP upon landing. Someone please explain that!
The Birdie combo at 2:10 and the Chun Li combo immediately after it are kinda cool because he does an attack facing the wrong direction and when he chain cancels it, the following attack is also facing the wrong direction. There were a couple of CFJ combos done by kysg where he does the same thing. Cool idea.
What's going on with all the Sodom combos at the end? If i had to guess, i would say that Sodom's Tengu Walking (or whatever it's called) resets the juggle count which allows for otherwise illegal extra juggle hits. I bet the timing is all sorts of precise though, if it took this long for someone to find it.

Awesome, awesome video. Does anyone have the music to it? I'd love to check out more from that particular artist.

commentary: Check out the last video with the P-Groove player. He parries something from like two character lengths away and then just walks forward and throws the opponent. Pretty entertaining strategy. Doesn't work out so well in the last round, but it's still funny to see him try.
The combo meter is at 2 hits when Bison lands, so the c.LP has to do two hits. It seems as though the first hit of the j.HK and the first fireball connect at the same time and don't register individually on the combo meter. Then the second j.HK hit connects and the combo meter goes up to 2 hits. Then the first c.LP hit, then the second fireball, then the second c.LP hit. In conclusion, the current explanation is still "wtf??"

Also, I just sent an e-mail to him asking if he'd send his other 5 vids to me so I can host them.

0 • Off Topic Disagree Agree LikeThe transcripts aren't very descriptive I think.
If I remember right, all it said was simultaneous hit with the fireball, then 2nd hit with j. RH. Don't think they explained how to get that 2nd hit in the transcript. It's just literally a transcript of the moves used, with no real explanation on how stuff was done.
I didn't read the stuff at the top, so it might be there. And I didn't look around the webpage for bugs info either.
?????x2?????J?K-J?K(2??)-??P-???????-??P(2??)Lv3???(6)
LP shot (psycho shot) x2, simultaneous hit j. RH, j. RH (2nd hit, nidanme), cr. MP, shot hits, cr. MP (2nd hit), Lvl 3 Psychocrusher
I think that's right?
Or Ryu's combo on Sodom
?????J?K-?Px7-?KLv2????(4)-Lv1????(2)
backwards(crossup) j. RH, LP x 7, LK -> Lvl 2 Shinkuu (4 hits), Lvl 1 Shinkuu
I'm guessing the bugs are either "known" and listed somewhere else or... For tengu walk, is he supposed to be invincible while doing it? Once he enters the command, does he lose his falling invincibility or something? Allows for more juggles? Never played alpha, so I wouldn't know what to look for.

0 • Off Topic Disagree Agree LikeHeh, i guess i was wrong about it being c.LP that hit twice. But the weird thing about the combo was that the j.HK hit simultaneously with the first fireball but the c.MP didn't and it still hit twice. So if the double-hit glitch was caused by simultaneous hits, then the c.MP hitting twice would still be left unexplained. Anyway i guess simultaneous hits don't register separately on the combo meter so that's why the combo meter is only at 2 hits when Bison lands even tho 3 hits ocurred.

I'm not sure who these guys are or how old these vids are, but check out video number 23 for some crazy Urien mixups. He does low fierce, EX headbutt, low fierce again and cancels the first hit into Aegis then dashes under and does jump back HK to set up unblockable. I don't know how practical that is but it looks tight.
He also hits with MP fireball so close that he juggles with low fierce afterwards. He uses that to set up an unblockable Aegis and mashes some buttons for a while, then uses a forward dash to push Elena into the Aegis while the combo meter resets. Pretty damn clever. That's the kinda shit you gotta do these days to win over Daigo's fans.

Using the high Aegis to do a bunch of free jumping attacks is also pretty damn clever, but if the opponent is smart, they'll start blocking high as soon as Urien jumps to get the Aegis to fade away faster.

These guys post random match videos. They posted one combo video which has some nice execution stuff but it was mostly just old Sai-Rec combos redone, probably using a programmable controller. Shows a couple of corner crossup tricks during CC, using Karin's rekka ken move as a setup. That last one is the most deceptive one, and also the most confusing because it pushes them all the way into the corner and she still gets the crossup. Seems like CFJ has more corner problems than CvS2.

Daigo beats Frionel's Balrog with Ryu and then switches to Fei Long. He probably wasn't allowed to do that but i'm sure nobody cared because it was Daigo. And i'm sure Frionel didn't care because he just got beat perfect by Ryu. Bas did the same sort of thing at (i think it was) B5. He beat GQ's V-Sodom with V-Akuma and then GQ switched to V-Rolento so Bas switched to V-Cody. For those of you who don't go to tournaments, you're only supposed to switch characters when you lose. Bas is cheap!
Anyway, Daigo does the same thing again in the second vid, switching from Balrog to DeeJay. In the third vid at 0:27, Daigo somehow manages to block high against Balrog's c.MK after a knockdown. Someone explain that please. When he wins, he switches to Ken. Wins again, switches to Gief!

Seems to be the final four of a small tournament. The players have been in random a-cho and VIP vids before. That V-Karin infinite is cheap. It's amazing that the A-Gen player manages to survive, surrounded by top tier V-Ism characters all the time. But he pulls out some clutch combos, manages to escape V-Karin's infinite, and his counter/escape for crossups seems to work pretty damn well.

At 0:53 in the third vid, A-Sakura connects with a divekick as Blanka is getting up, then she jumps forward and counters Blanka's KKK backhop with j.HK midscreen. It's not that crazy but a lot of Blanka players mash on that when they're in trouble so it's good to know you have that available. Anyway if the Blanka player hadn't done it, she would have gone for j.MK crossup instead. It's just cool because there's normally very little you can do to discourage Blanka from using that get-out-of-jail-free card midscreen.

Although these vids are probably captured on emulator, it doesn't look like they used any tools to do them. It's not like they completed the game in the absolute fastest time possible - they just played smart and didn't get hit. I mean, check out how long he takes to kill Honda with Guile. That's all AI exploits and anyone can figure out how to manipulate cpu characters with some testing.
In the Guile run, he just walks forward full screen and throws Ryu. Pretty gutsy. I also like the air throws against Ken because air throws are cool. Damn, that Flash Kick against Vega's wall dive does like 40% damage. Guile's whole strategy against cpu Vega is pretty cool though, mostly just using j.HK to randomly hit Vega for no good reason. Haha check out the foreground tree in Sagat's stage!
It's pretty funny seeing Ryu's DP do 50% damage against Dhalsim and still not knock down. Ryu vs Guile makes Guile look retarded. At 9:25 i think Ryu's fireball hits two barrels at once. That tree on Sagat's stage is still funny. It's also funny seeing M.Bison trying to punish a blocked DP with Psycho Crusher considering that move had like 5 minute start-up in WW.
Somebody watch the Zangief vid and give us some comments if anything cool happened.

0 • Off Topic Disagree Agree LikeFor instance, i'd be really interested in reading some footnotes on KoF matches. I gotta admit that i have no idea how to tell a good match from a mediocre match in SNK games, since most of it just looks like random hopping around to me. The same goes for combos, because SNK games tend to have assists and 90 kinds of cancels. It's so easy to do extended combos that it can be difficult to tell the simple ones from the advanced ones. Watching KoF combos in the later half of the series is like watching CvS2 EX-Groove combo videos - it's easy to get 89789723434 hits without any creativity at all.
So those of you that are KoF experts, VF experts, GG experts, and so on ... feel free to post your thoughts in this thread whenever you happen to see a really good video.

These guys do some pretty advanced combos for all sorts of random emulated games. If i had to guess, i'd say they use random emulator tools to pull off some of the more complicated setups, but that's not exactly a rarity these days. The Sagat combo is cool because he combos after the lvl2 Tiger Cannon without using an interrupt setup.
Almost all of the combos on this website are good, but it takes forever to get them. Usually it doesn't connect and you have to try 9879823434 times to get each download started.

(scroll down to the bottom and download the three ~30.8mb rmvb files)
commentary:
I've seen some crazy edited version of these matches but i'm not sure if the complete uncut versions were ever posted before. They are pretty intense matches even though this was the early days of Alpha 3 before crouch cancel infinites became the only way to play. For those of you unfamiliar with random SF scene history, Japan held an A3 tournament to decide who would fly out to America to represent Japan. The final match was Daigo vs Ohnuki, both playing V-Akuma and Daigo won. Back then nobody had seen what V-Akuma was capable of doing. Daigo flew out here and watched the entire US A3 nationals tournament that was supposed to decide who he was gonna play. So the whole tournament Valle played X-Rolento and beat everyone down except he couldn't beat Graham Wolfe's A-Dhalsim in the finals. He was forced to use his secret bidness character V-Ryu (that him and Choi developed together) to beat Graham with Daigo standing right behind them watching everything. Anyway Valle wins the tournament and gets to face off against Daigo.
The format winds up being three out of five rounds, two out of three matches. So Valle wins the first match and then wins two rounds of the second match, then Daigo pulls off this crazy comeback and wins three rounds in a row to win the second match. Daigo goes on to win the third match, and they are both sitting there waiting to start the next match when the announcer dude walks in the middle and declares Daigo the winner. You can see Valle in the background looking confused as all hell, talking to the people around him and to the announcer. Turns out he was told that it was gonna be three out of five matches. Hella fair! Still, Valle came within one round of winning the first US vs Japan event.
The coolest thing about all this is that after this event, Valle drops V-Ryu and starts playing V-Akuma in local tournaments. And Daigo goes back to Japan and drops V-Akuma to start playing V-Ryu. A bunch of years later during another meeting with Japanese players, Ohnuki was talking about how they saw the footage when the Japanese crew returned. He said that if he had gone instead of Daigo he thinks he would have lost to Valle. Goes to show you that Ohnuki is a cool kid (who just happens to have a rivalry with Daigo).
By the way, i wasn't around back then so i have no idea now i know all this shit. Guess i just hung around the right people.
edit: I just used an online translator on the filenames for those rmvb clips and and it looks like it was labeled by a WWF announcer. Check it out:

0 • Off Topic Disagree Agree LikeFor those of you who don't know, Graham Wolfe was this crazy good Dhalsim player back in the day. One of the godfathers - back when you could pick a character and be known for figuring him out unlike today. Every other Dhalsim player at the time lost to Rolento no matter what. So Graham holed up in his apartment for like a month after buying an A3 board and played NOTHING but Dhalsim. He was the first Dhalsim player to actually beat Rolento, even forcing Valle to play V-Ryu. After the Daigo vs Valle match, there was an exhibition where Daigo played A-Guy and beat down all the famous American players. Graham was the only player there who beat Daigo's A-Guy.
Another tidbit of info to add to the story ... That ghetto ass V-Ryu combo that Valle does - in Jpn they call that, "the alex combo." I remember Viscant saying that Valle figured out 2987398723434 different confusion VC setups playing at SHGL because he kept fucking up the combo VC and had to improvise. (Btw, "confusion VC" means all resets as opposed to guaranteed combo VC's.)
Also after that matchup - Daigo played V-Ryu, Valle played V-Akuma and Nuki went to play V-Sakura. Everyone switched chars. Apparently Nuki played her before the big tournament and couldn't win, so he sold out and played V-Akuma. Then after tourney, losing to Daigo, he said fuck it and went back to V-Sak. Obviously he figured out some crazy shit with her because V-Sakura became a top tier character in Alpha 3 for a long long time.
