The Swiss artist and designer of Ridley Scott's Alien, H. R. Giger, has died aged 74, Swiss media has reported.
The Neue Zuercher Zeitung newspaper said he died of injuries sustained in a fall.
Born in 1940, Giger was best known for his 'Xenomorph' alien in Scott's sci-fi horror masterpiece for which he won a visual effects Oscar in 1980.
He studied architecture and industrial design in Zurich and was known for creating strange dreamscapes.
Giger described his style as "biomechanical".
One of his pieces in particular - Necronom IV - inspired the titular alien killer in Sir Ridley's hit film.
He also worked on Aliens 3 (1992) and, more recently, appeared in a documentary about director Alejandro Jodorowsky's unmade film of the book Dune.
In 1998, he opened his own museum in Gruyeres, Switzerland, which alongside his own paintings and sculptures, displays works from his own art collection from the likes of Salvador Dali, Dada and Ernst Fuchs.
His work has also been exhibited around the world, including recent retrospectives in Hamburg, Germany, Moscow and Istanbul.

There are artists who have had their impact on fantasy, space opera sci-fi, etc. like Frazetta, Syd Mead, Moebius. Giger and Alien 1 pretty much defined the past 35 years of creature horror.

The fact that Ripley was planned to be involved in it in any way is what turns me off.
Her story should have ended after Aliens IMO, her character feels like a dead horse that no longer needs beating.

She let's the derelict ship (being kept at WT headquarters) full of aliens go and infect all the high level scientists and CEO's and executives, yeah that might kinda fuck the company up a little. Especially considering some of the pics show Ripley using the Space Jockey equipment. Hell, she could just let news leak about whats been going on. You seem to not realize how easy it is for big companies to fail, due to some bad publicity.
It was established in later movies that Weyland-Yutani went under, so this isn't exactly a far stretch.

Some fairytale bullshit that makes no sense and goes against the flow of the series.

Prometheus SE cuts out a lot of the unnecessary humor, dialog and scene's, building stronger, smarter characters. Removing many plot holes with the story and just general things that have issues. Such as Fifield getting lost in the structure, running in a straight line away from a rolling space craft. Deleted scene's or certain shots from the deleted footage was re-integrated back into the movie by either using several shots to change certain scene's or by adding a whole new scene to the film. All new material was color corrected, scored, sfx added and leveled to appropriate audio levels.
To create a better more intelligent version of the movie, with stronger characters, less humor, less plot holes, and more in the heart of Alien.
