Just had to make this thread after what happened to me today.
So me and my friends are playing a few rounds before I go out to work in a lobby.
Well some random dude joins and i've been trying out a new team (Iron Fist, Frank, Tron)
And I thought maybe because the guys a 6th lord he'll not go evo pro.. well of course he comes out with Smash-Coat (My team name for Vergil, Hulk , Wesker). i get smashed and he t-bags and leaves. everyone in the party lets me get first in line to play him again and he leaves.

Been salty since, and I wanna hear some salty stories. lol.

Just about everything in this game, to be honest. I really don't know why I can't stop playing it.

Some specific things though:
X-factor
TACs
The fact that ground series>launch>air series>otg>super does so much fucking damage
Stupid hitboxes (although I abuse the fuck out them too, but it's OK when I do it)
Getting hit by something completely random and unsafe, and ending up losing because of that one 'mistake'
The input leniency in this game (shit is mad retarded, screws me over way more often than it helps me)
Being unable to play my own music during the game, although that seems to be a common problem for PS3 games.

I can think of more but I'm starting to get pissed again so I'll stop lol

I actually really like Nova, he's now one of my favorite Marvel characters (not that that means much of anything, since the majority of my Marvel knowledge comes from the VS series.) But I also haven't faced many Novas, at least none worth remembering, so that is subject to change.

Maybe I'm just taking online too seriously, but I'm really starting to hate various online tactics. TAC's to death (knowing they're almost impossible to predict online), people abusing the hell out of things that are hard to punish (Ghost Rider's jumping S comes to mind), stuff like that. But maybe it's because I don't just play online to farm wins, I'm actually trying to get better at the game, and have no respect for anyone who just wants wins. I am just not able to do much offline play with other people.

Marvel in general makes me salty lol. I hate being trapped in a never ending combo. It's like whoever gets the first hit wins. It's bull shit, but whatever lol. That's why when I look at Combofiend play this mess, it's the same cheap crap over and over again. I don't find him impressive, at least not at Marvel, because it's rinse and repeat. "Oh you can't block it? Too bad. I'ma do it 40 more times" doesn't equate to skill in my book. He's just good at being cheap lol. But, again, I realize that's how Marvel is supposed to be played. A bunch of random ass bull shit. Yeah, um, not for me lol.

But in the broad scope of fighting games, losing by a pixel seems to be the easiest way to get me to scream unsanitary words at my screen.

I also hate when ppl beat me by said pixel and have the nerve to send me a msg saying I suck like I just got bodied.

Taunting after a match, especially if the fight was a close one. Online, it's just too easy to confuse a good person who likes to celebrate with an asshole who wants to screw everyone he meets but is too scrawny to do it outside of a computer game.

I play online for both reasons. I want wins and I want to get better. Getting better makes more wins. They're one in the same. But I know some blokes just use one broken strategy and do it all the time just to rank up the easiest way possible versus learning match ups and situationals -- which would put a ton of loses on your name, but in the long run will improve your game.

I just can't play Marvel online, dude. Besides the game being nearly broken, the people I ran into in vanilla are completely ruthless with their cheapness. I never had a chance to figure out what my problems were because the match was over so fast all the time lol. I'd play UMVC3 offline more than anything, just to learn from people there next to you versus being continuously raped and left confused online.

Number one is taunting. If its a player match or lobby, taunt away. When my rank is on the line, and YOU, Mr. Scrub, just random Ace Attorney'd me two frames after I press a button, leave quietly. You know that should've never worked, so accept the ranking points gratefully and don't be dumb about it.

Number two is the teams that usually involve Wesker and a lockdown assist like Hidden Missiles or Drones. Apparently now that they can't herp derp their way in with Wolvie, they just call the assist, teleport around a ton and do whatever the derp they want, and if it doesn't give them a hit? RUUUUUUUUUN TO THE OPPOSITE CORNER! Run away long enough to call the assist again, rinse and repeat. It's less annoying against Sentinel, but I can't do a thing against Doom Missiles. This makes me salt up like the Dead Sea.

And number three is the teams that get one lucky hit from something (again) that should've never worked, and they spend the rest of the match running away. I don't think anything makes me rage harder. When this happens, I seriously just stop playing. I didn't sign up for "Tag," but for MAHVEL. Now give me my Mahvel.

TAC's get to me really badly. i hated them in MvC3, but now that i lose meter each time i guess wrong on something that is literally impossible to react to online, i get extremely salty. scrubs that rely on them for damage are even worse.

Go to options, adjust Music to 0, keep sound levels where they are, play your own music outside of game.

Losing to lame run away the whole match zoning teams. I fought a team of Deadpool/Taskmaster/Trish and all they did the entire match was run away while shooting. Deadpool in particular was annoying cause when I tried to jump to close the distance over just taking a bunch of chip damage from guns, they use quick work to run away underneath me and continue their strategy. Not to mention trying to get through Peekaboo assist and Taskmaster arrow assist.

Something is seriously wrong when such a simple braindead strategy actually yields success.

THIS so much. I've noticed once you get into around 8th/7th tier, it's the same characters being used. Seriously all can say is that lately everyone has been using "coward tactics", many of them are the ones quoted above.

What specifically makes me salty:

• Doom's Hidden Missile Assist spam/Foot Dive stun (way too long)
• Weskers (and everything about them, especially the nerve to taunt/TB afterwards)
• Team Devil May Wesker, doing these insane combos, building meter like no tomorrow and killing a character in one combo.
• Vergil, has TOO much stun to his moves, he's speedy, shy not make the execution timer like X-23's.
• Along with the Ghost Rider chain spam from far away, the addition of assists that spam a projectile of some sort.
• Wolverine's Dive Spam, fishing for that ONE LITTLE hit into an insane combo.
• NEW ONE! Sentinel's air super has INVINCIBILITY?
• Near the very end of a match, I input something that doesn't go through to cost me the game.
• Strider's teleport (mainly the assist) will always go above your character no matter where you are, pretty hard to punish if it's even possible lol.
• Hawkeye/Taskmaster Arrow Assist spam for either chip or crossups.

No Heavy Character should have a teleport (Wesker). No heavy character should have an invincible super (Sentinel), I kinda figured that was the reason for the whole Super Armor.

I main Frank/Super-Skrull/Chun-Li, and I found out Chun-Li's EX SBK is wonderful at punishing teleports (mainly after the common Wesker gunshot -> teleport above) Frank is good once you get him to Level 3 (which if I can manage to get ONE combo, then it works). And Super-Skrull is just wonderful at continuing damage and having his own mix-ups and thankfully (but sometimes doesn't work) his command grabs. The bad thing is that my team kinda needs to get close (except from Super-Skrull for the most part) in order to do something, but I can't because people are too busy running away, spamming/teleporting.

I'm sorry for this whole post, but I'm just tired of the same teams, same tactics. Makes the game not fun anymore. The only thing that makes it fun now is when I beat these teams and manage to taunt on way past the K.O. because I feel they deserve it.

One day I plan to reply to the people who beat me and sent me a scrub response: "Oh you won? I'm sorry I was too busy choking on all the salt I have given from your team."

...I have no idea if that makes sense, BUT I still plan to use it 'cause it's still funny to me lol.

Capcom make me salty. The only thing I feel Capcom excel at is consistently disappointing me. Replay mode on Vita and not on 360 or PS3. Well played Capcom, well played.

For a video game developer that's been around nearly 30 years, how are they so bad at listening to communities and engaging in communities. I'm spoiled, I admit it, having mostly played PC games for the last 10-15 years and seeing game developers actively get better at listening. How are console and arcade developers still so far behind?

As soon as these cowboys publish one game they pretty much wash their hands of it. I don't mind that I had to pay £20 for 12 more characters, that's fine if it was DLC it would have cost me a lot more for the characters. But after reading that the odds of the 360 and PS3 version getting replay mode is somewhere near 0 I give up on the idea of these guys being game developers, they're fucking piggy bank robbers. Ryota Niitsuma should be wearing a fucking ski-mask next time he asks me to hand over my cash. It's the same game engine I'm pretty fucking sure. I just.. what I don't... fucking even. I can't finish my description of why this makes me mad, no one who matters cares.

Zoning is stronger in this game, if you can't get around it well. Then you lose. I can agree it does make people salty but fact of the matters people are just going to have to get around it.

-People who can't do anything outside of LMHS MMHS Samurai Edge OTG Maximum Wesker. I can say that i'm one of the FEW people i've met online who can do Wesker combos outside of this. (LMH QCF + H H QCF + L L Samurai Edge OTG, c.M s.H QCF + M L s.S Air series, then OTG Super) its not that hard really.
-People who think they're hot shit because they lost both of their characters in a flash but win with an XF4 Wesker THEN Taunt. Its ok if Wesker is that broken in XF for me, but why is it so long? it lasts like the entire team needed to kill the other team from 100%
-Bad Nemesis players, Read the damn sub-forum son!
-The priority of Zero's normals and his extended range
-Air throws, but this is just a pet peeve of mine I can't seem to know when they're coming.

Nothing really. Everything that did make me salty in Vanilla they toned down. Even with the character specific TOD's the game is far less cheap and you don't really see the crap that would kill entire teams from the start of the round like in Vanilla. Least you get a chance to escape an XF3 character's wrath. In Vanilla if Wolvie touched you with a combo that required zero effort and turned on XF at the start of the round, you could lose your whole team. LOL Invincible berserker slash in general was the single worst thing about the game and they fixed that too.

Just like any fighting game there's going to be some scrub shit but unlike Vanilla B Slash at least you have some way around it or can generally deal shit now. Tron and Haggar assists got nerfed a bit too hard but with the way assists work in this game there probably was no other way of doing it. Pick more Hulk and Iron Fist assist I guess.

- The brain-dead "mix-ups" in this game. So obvious yet so fucking hard to deal with sometimes.
- Air throws being so powerful.
- Bionic Arm xx X-Factor (Wait) Bionic Arm -- "Hey man, that was a legit punish, I knew you were going to try to punish me for doing something totally random!"
- The general safety of moves in this.
- X-Factor.
- Losing to people that I shouldn't be losing to for the aforementioned reasons.

When I sit here and look at this list, it makes me wonder why I even play it. :\

And I agree with OP. I almost got into a fight with a guy once at the old arcade when he scraped one win off of me (after losing to me about 9 times,) then walked away from the sticks when I put my money in again. This was MvC2, though.

Switch it up you got it wrong: In passing, it's a great-risk, great reward due o the option of interceptions.
Running on the other hand is more safe, sure you can fumble, but you can also do that after a pass is caught too.
Playing upclose would be your passing, since you have to risk being blocked and punished for recovery.
Playing from afar, is less risk, since sure you can't combo unless you got a teleport or something, but it's more of a safe thing to do (chip or get a few hits, mainly chip though).

Then again calling it coward tactics was harsh from me, especially since I can't say do since I'm biased using a close-up team (who can't get close to 90% of the people online usually).

Also the Dive Kick Spam sure may not be as good as it used to be, but it's still good XD

Don't get me wrong; I got nothing against zoners. Against characters like Zero, Hulk, and Spencer, it's something you ought to do. I also don't hate effective strategies. Just some of the things people get away with online can be annoying at times like SJ teleport Wesker and X-23 zipping all through the screen like a blind bird. It's something you just gotta learn to deal with. No use name calling or QQing about it.

Teabaging and letting the timer run out on Charater Select/Stage Select/Rematch screen after matches instead of going to the Exit Game button on purpose is really all that gets me mad anymore. Seriously, IMO Teabaging makes you look like a 5 year old people need to stop that; as for Letting the timer run out that is just a fucking stupid waste of time and all your trying to do is make the other person quit which isn't going to work.

I used to get salty about Tauting but I'm mostly over it now and I never understand getting mad at people about tactics they use. I only get mad at my self since I couldn't deal with what they where doing.
