X-MANIA EUROPE 2 - SATURDAY, MAY 19 & SUNDAY, MAY 20 2012
The biggest SSF2T ever made outside Japan is BACK
In cooperation with Mikado's arcade center, the Neo-arcadia's arcade center of Toulouse
will organize for the second time the X-Mania Europe witch brings the best european players
of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and international guests.
The X-Mania tournaments are the biggest ones in the world of Super Street Fighter 2X. They are taking place every year at the Mikado gamecenter in Japan. For the second time, an official X-Mania will take place out of Japan: in Toulouse, FRANCE!
We hope that as much as possible players of the Super Street Fighter 2X community will gather for this outstanding event.
The tournament will have a true international impact like last year. The winners will be announced on the official Mikado gamecenter's website. You wanna proove your skill on SSF2X? Don't miss this event then.
The game used will be the original japanese version on versus cabinets ( 16 cabinets ), each cabinet will have new hardware for the event ( Seimitsu joysticks / Sanwa buttons )
I've been told that it would be better to post this here than in the events forums as it might not be seen much by ST players there, if that's a problem, please let me know.

Anyway on the topic of the event, it's not on the official website yet but on the Neo-Arcadia forums, some news have been annouced.
Here's a link to the thread, most of the talk is in french but you can post in english without problem : http://www.neo-arcadia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=30173
So six guests have been announced for now :
- Professeur Jones (France)
- Damdai (USA)
- Komoda (Japan)

- Yaya (Japan)
- Kusumondo (Japan)
- Kenpachi (Belgium)
Also i will be there to stream the event, i talked to the owner of Neo Arcadia and said to him it would be nice that the commentary on stream is done in english.
He agrees but sadly they don't have people there that speak english good enough for that, so if anyone that come is willing to help, please let me know.

So as i'm not a ST player and can't judge their level that precisely, i'll quote a list made by Wolmar a while ago when someone asked the same thing on the Neo Arcadia forum. Note that he didn't included himself, from what i saw in most tourneys he deserve to be up there in the list.
    France : 1/ Pr Jones 2/ Milanea 3/ Er commander 4/ Aerorockman 5/ Pe1port 6/ Ukyo 7/ Veloluffy 8/ cuongster 9/ dav35
    10/ oldsamir /zarghatt / marinstech.

I'm excited to see how Komoda and Yaya will perform. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they rarely make appearances outside of Japan.

The owner of Neo Arcadia just annouced that Kusumondo will be back this year, also Kenpachi will be there to represent Belgium.

Haha, I loved how everyone's clip shows some cool combos, and then Yaya's section was mostly a few tiger shots against a cornered Chun.

I think the ability to zone chun with N.gat is a pretty exceptional display of skill.

I'm far more impressed with Yaya's display of zoning, as opposed to showing off some 5-second clip of cool combos that the previous players displayed. I'd prefer see some more interesting setups or clutch moments that the players used.

Also, I dislike the use of dub-step in an ST trailer.

Impressive sure, but it looks out of place in the clip in contrast to the other player clips. And even then, I don't think a few seconds of a corner trap can really capture skillful zoning mind games that took a whole match to lead up to.

True, especially against Komoda's clip, but then again, Komoda always displays amazing shit beyond just doing combos. It's kind of difficult to showcase fireball zoning superiority in a clip that lasts only for several seconds. But it's always impressive watching Yaya doing so well with N.Sagat just by the fact that he has an amazing ability to throw tiger shots so quickly, while rarely being punished for it. He always knows when to stop in anticipation of a jump in.

Looking again, I think the most interesting part of Yaya's segment was that the Chun went to neutral to get hit by that high tiger.

Last minute news, some of the staff just went to the airport to welcome our japanese guests, and they got a surprise when they saw four people instead of three, Kurahashi joined the party at the last minute, the event just got even more awesome ^^

Also didn't talk about it before but if you want updates about the results during the tourney, you can follow me on twitter @swga_maho

So the stream starts 11am French time, which is GMT +2, which makes that 4am Eastern/1am Pacific, is that right?

I can't believe Kurahashi is in this, you're so lucky. Hopefully he can make it to TOL @ EVO too.

Maho, that was a great stream yesterday! (solo 3 char tournament) Tell all people involved they did a great job producing it. I appreciate seeing the actual BRACKETS updated during the tournament (the link in stream's chat was very helpful). Ken Bogard's commentary is the best. Anyone's commentary has lag built in, and they never really know what's going on in the players' minds but you don't need to understand a word of French to know he's keeping pace with the action all the same.

btw I have a question about how double brackets work... if players happen to have the records that Damdai did with Kusumondo, they don't share 2nd place (considering who each player lost to). There's always a tie for 5th but in the case that happened, no tie for 2nd?
