As much as I'd love to recommend getting the game on PC... I simply can't. All online functions are pretty much unplayable at this time.. check back around december :/

Capcom has said 1.05 will come "soon" but hasn't elaborated on that yet, as they never do and only announce PC updates 1-3 days before they come out.

Capcom has also said 1.06 and the DLC characters will not be out until sometime in September (could be early or late September), then again, Capcom says a lot of things and doesn't release them until several months later.

    The online is unplayable.

The online is not unplayable. 2 vs 2 IS unplayable for some odd reason. You can play 2 vs 1 fine though. Weird stuff that I hope they fix soon.

The netcode is pretty bitchy though, if you have a great connection to the opponent, it's AE quality, maybe better. If it's not perfect, welcome to the world of rollbacks and teleports. If you played GGPO before with lag ,you know what I mean.

So, some people you played with some lag in AE, you won't be able to play here. The people you played with green bars and great connections before, will also work here.

I have it for both PS3 and PC but mostly play PC nowadays.

So is the online on par with Xbox 360 or worse? Got some mixed opinions in here lol.

So 1.06 in September? that's not too far way from now then.

I don't have an Xbox, but I can say it's at least on par with PS3. 1.06 should hit in September, so I guess I ll practice the new chars a bit on console.

Nah, it's pretty much just as bad as day 1 on consoles. Aka people constantly teleport and there's tons of lag.

That has been patched a while ago. Again, with great connections, no lag, plays perfectly. It it's not 100% good, you will see some rollbacks. Anything worse than that, and its indeed unplayable.

    you can actually play 2v2.

1)2 guys create a team and start a match against 3rd guy.
2)2 other guys join the lobby in the middle of the match and create a second team.
    3)first team finishes the match

There are some input lag sometimes. I'm having the best connection (in ranked matches. Endless Lobby's almost nonexistent) if I'm playing a player from either Hong Kong or Japan (I'm from the Philippines). Not sure on what's happening on their end though as Mouhappai (an HK player) stated before that he was having lag when facing me while it's A-OK on my end. Winning and losing battles because of lag can be irritating and frustrating at the same time. :(

So far I had the worst connection when playing against European players particularly Russia for some reason.

Bizarrely enough, I one encountered input lag problems when playing against players from Singapore and India, despite of them being closer to us compared to the ones I've mentioned above.

Dont let people discourage you, the PC version works very well on many machines(even better than AE) and even works great in a window - so you can post here or check your characters boards etc...I've played many matches on PC and enjoy the game, yes you will have to wait for updates but for me it is worth the wait, not to mention all the awesome mods already out and more coming. Looks way better on PC all around. Online is the exact same code as xbox version.

So by 1.06 the net code should be solid?

probably not. there is no word or acknowledgement from capcom about the status of the pc netcode. from their side it was fixed with the first patch (which included the console netcode change). and the third party pc developer doesn't care, they are paid to port the console patches and that's exactly what they'll do and nothing more.

As today (Sept 05th), what's the latest patch for PC version?
Is there any difference between PC version vs Console version (there is a tourney in the upcoming weeks, and they want to define what platform they'll be using)

    Thanks in advance!

They didn't patch anything yet, so it is still 1.02, means no DLC characters as yet on the pc version

I am calling it right now. We will get 1.06 and the DLC characters on September 14th. If I am more than two days off in my prediction I will be very upset.

Bumping the thread. I'm thinking of getting it for PC too. Has the netcode been patched since? Does it have a decent player base?

the netcode most likely wont be fixed since they consider this version "Fixed". Maybe the player base would increase if the patch ever comes out. Longest 2 weeks ever.

So is the netcode still really bad or is it very much playable?

It just depends on who you're playing. It's just like sf4 but there's not enough people to go around so it seems like there are nothing but laggers

Your precognition power needs a lot of work. :D

Plenty of sucky connection matches. I usually end up being forced to fight in a poor connection out of desperation in looking for a human opponent. In a good connection I either end up facing someone who I cannot beat or someone who has tricks on his sleeve, resulting in me losing a lot of points. :(

nothing was changed since the initial patch for the pc port. so.. nope, still unplayabale like ever.
that's the reason why everybody in the pc community returned to ae.
