Forward Throw -> Forward Dash x4 Cr.MP is meaty on the cast
  • genkibotgenkibot こちこち Joined: Posts: 434 ✭✭✭
dash x4, c.strong is meaty but doesn't hit on the last active frame ala. the other setups which give much better frame advantage (+7/8). it allows 2x c.strong or c.strong, c.forward and even c.strong, c.fierce on the bigger characters. i believe you can get 2x c.strong from the dash x4 setup if you cancel every dash perfectly, leaving it at most probably +6. that's why i chose not to add it, though if you think it's vital i will put it :)

Ahh I see. The only other thing I'd say then is that there isn't really another forward throw > meaty normal setup, so it still could be useful to know. Then again, dashing up after throwing them full screen is probably one of the first things people try when they want to stay aggressive. Up to you~

Is it worth mentioning unblockables etc are corner specific or not? (Or are they all corner-only by definition)

This thread is not only fantastic, but if it is completed I'm totally putting the shortcut to this page on the first page of my phone. That said, I do have one small recommendation for the format.

I really like the idea of the 'matchup at a glance' box. However, the max punish section takes up more then half of the box and is not really that easy to read for someone looking for a down and dirty overview, and especially for someone who is already very familiar with Juri combos. As well I'm already seeing a ton of repeated combos even just in the rufus section. Guerenteed this will only increase as more characters get filled out. Repeat combos equals unnecessary clutter, and frankly more work.

In particular I'm thinking of the c.hp punisher, and the bnb fuj combo.

I think it would cut the typing required for this project in half if combos were moved to their own space like the fuzzies. Then simply referred to the combos based on their first hit. In almost all cases the combo is completely determined by the first hit and resources available. ofc in situations where the combo is character specific (such as weird hitboxes) then the full combo needs to be written out.

    ex)

    Ultra 1 (Block) -

No meter + Fuhajin: Walk forward, S.Strong(MP)
    ELSE: C.Fierce(HP)

then the full combos would be listed in the combo section along with damage/stun etc.

Once again, love the thread, and would love to see this completed. I'm fairly mediocre at this game, but I am more then willing to help out in any way I can.

this is something I've been thinking about already and I agree with you, although at the same time they can repeat a lot, they can also get quite specific. In terms of matchup information I already had previously; I actually deleted it in minds of starting again with further knowledge and other changes etc so it will still take a while. I have been quite busy over the last 3/4 days so haven't had the chance to work on anything, but as I get going again and doing more matches I'll be able to come to a better conclusion. Thanks for the compliments and suggestions though, I appreciate both a lot :)

Pretty sure Cl.MK is a great meaty move against rose, it covers every option:

Backdash: Second hit will knock rose out of the air.
Focus backdash: First hit is absorbed, second hit will knock rose out of the air. (Note: If they dash too slowly, the invincibility will cover the second hit. If they do it fast enough, the invincibility ends before the second hit becomes active)
EX Soul Throw: Although Juri is airborne, this move will whiff and go straight over her, or get hit by the second hit.
EX Soul Spiral: If properly timed, the second hit will knock Rose out of it. If you do CL.MK too early, the second hit will fire during Soul Spirals invincibility
Ultra 2: Meaty moves beat U2.
    Throw: You're airborne!

Super and Ultra 1 both beat it, but that should be pretty obvious.

Only thing to note is that if she crouch blocks, the second hit will whiff, leaving you vulnerable for a moment. Thankfully, this is the only scenario you need to react to, so you can cancel it into fuhajin store.

what he said. i've got a lot of shit going on atm that's a lot more important than fighting games. being pressured into spoon feeding people isn't exactly the best way to convince me to make time to work on it either. be patient please.

as LJ said there's tonnes there that i would think only a small amount of you have implemented into your game. work with what's there and your juri will improve anyways.

Thanks alot genkibot, this is really useful stuff. Anyways, I've been compiling this stuff for my notes, and I couldn't get a few of the character specific setups (Fuzzy guard j.mp from blocked jumpin) to connect. The characters with one * by them (for example adon or guy). Does anyone know how to get this to work, or does it just not work?

^Yeah I saw that in one of the JP videos recently posted. I've been testing it out, it works on rufus and juri and a few other characters as well. But you have to sweep them from pretty close distance for it to work, so it's not really useful off a raw sweep.

I'm having problems doing the fthrow dash st LK whiff senpusha into jump forward, they walk under me almost every time, should I do my aerial earlier in the jump? Or am I messing up the timint on the (dash st LK whiff senpusha into jump forward)?

That's not how fuzzy guard works. I think you mean instant overhead?

Haha, it took me awhile to get what you were talking about. The notation says to do a lk pinwheel, not whiff a st.lk. The setup is forward dash, LK pinwheel, then jump forward.

It's fuzzy guard because it hits them as if they were standing, because when characters wake up in SF4 the first frame when they wake up is standing. Instant overhead works when the opponent is crouching (like Cammy's nj.lk), and isn't dependent on the opponent being in a standing state.

For the dash pinwheel, you need to input the pinwheel during the last part of your dash, you essentially cancel the last 2 frames of your dash with pinwheel. This is essential for timing.

Trying to gather a list of unblockables/fake cross ups that work on juri. To help Juri players know setups and work against them. Will edit occasionally as I find things.

    Cody:

    C.Viper:
Reverse-blockable (fake cross up):Forward throw (corner) > LK burn kick (regular, grounded version) > j.HK (only HK tested)

    Fei Long:
    UNBLOCKABLES

    VS. Juri & Ibuki
Backthrow walkback slightly, whiff st lp, jump foward mk.

    Gen

    1. Hard gekiro, wiff light gekiro, medium gekiro
    2. Forward Throw, wiff crane sweep, medium Oga
    3. Forward throw, dash and walk 2 frames, wiff sMP jump Mk

    Ex kasatushi?

Lol what is this? Ex counter?

It auto corrects to the wrong direction (back into the corner). Jlk is unblockable.

Ex pw gets stuffed. Didn't try to focus dash forward.

Yea ex counter sorry. But even if we now know about it Juri can't press the other direction and escape it? Or would it always go the wrong direction?

Yes. Hold the corner direction to get out (it will auto correct). But... Then it becomes a mix up cause I can strike from the same setup (safe strike) , if u hold back, u corner ur self.

Anyway this setup is very situational as u must backthrow juri INTO the corner. Again jlk is unblockable.

By the way Sakura corner setups post ex tatsu.. Will cause ex counter to behave in a similar manner (if u hold away from the corner it will wrongly auto correct to the corner).

This is when it is helpful to know how to Armor Cancel into FSE since then it should work as a punish or at least make juri able to block Cammys attacks after landing. The problem is, is there any one of us Juri users out there who can Armor Cancel FSE regularly?
  • Lion_JakLion_Jak Joined: Posts: 827 ✭✭
It would be much harder to armor cancel into FSE when dealing with unblockables where your inputs could easily be mixed up. I do armor cancel into ex pinwheel and FSE often. Ex pinwheel being for facing jump ins and FSE for dealing with wake up fireball chip.

I swear I think that's one thing I can't quite master for her yet. For some reason, it only came out during vortex crossups on my wakeup. I mean, I cant fully grasp the armor cancel aspect yet.

At the top of the fuzzy list, there's a description of what each star means. This one tells you what's different about the setup. I don't post things that don't work, so if it doesn't work for you, you're doing something wrong.

I can't remember if I posted why, but yes, I know these setups and am going to put them in the character specifics for those particular matchups as there's no point having a whole section on the list that's dedicated to 3 characters.

Edit** Tried to start fixing the thread because the new site ruined it, character limit won't let me so now it's even worse off. gg srk.

Not sure if Option Select counts towards setups, but I believe its similar enough. I don't have anything new, and this is pretty basic stuff, but It'd be nice to have it written down somewhere just in case I forget.

Here is a Sweep Option Select thats meant to catch back dashes:
Set up after sweep: Jump immediately whiff a normal (I use Jump medium/heavy), [cr.lp or cr.lk], [cr. lp or cr. lk + sweep], [far standing lk. xx lk/mk/ex pinwheel].
Set up after back throw: Jump immediately whiff a normal (I use Jump medium/heavy), [cr.lp or cr.lk], [cr. lp or cr. lk + sweep], [far standing lk. xx lk/mk/ex pinwheel].

To see if you time the meaty, cr.lp or cr.lk correctly, set the dummy to jump. If you hit him in pre-jump frames, and hes grounded, then you're timing is correct, honestly it is pretty generous as it works on Adon and Cammy as well.

    Characters it works on: [y/n]
    Ryu [y]
    Ken [y]
    E. Honda [y]
    Ibuki [n]
    Makoto [n]
    Dudley [y]
    Seth [n]
    Gouken [y]
    Akuma [y]
    Gen [y]
    Dan [n]

    Oni [y]
    Yun [y]
    Juri [y]
    Chun li [n]
    Dhalsim [y]
    Abel [y]
    C. Viper [y]
    M. Bison [y]
    Sagat [y]
    Cammy [n]
    Dhalsim [y]
    Cody [y]
    Guy [n]
Hakan [y] with or without oil.
    Yang [y]
    E. Ryu [y]
    Guile [y]
Blanka [y/n], works for his command dash, doesn't work for his backdash.
    Zangief [y]
    Rufus [y]
    El Fuerte [n]
Vega [y/n], works for his backdash, doesn't work for his command dashes [Yeaaoww]
    Balrog [y]
    Fei Long [y]
    T. Hawk [y]
    Adon [y]
    Rose [n]

Apologies for a long list and if this stuff is pretty basic, for those who are lazy, the OS works on everyone but: Ibuki, Makoto, Seth, Dan, Chun li, Cammy, Guy, Blanka, Vega, El Fuerte, Rose.
