I prefer to see gems in there. I wanna see some hype shit go down like pandora finishes, and the works. Can't really get 100% out of the game if you aren't using gems.

All of them are legal. Just know that those with easy input and auto block are putting themselves at a huge disadvantage now that most players know how to actually play the game correctly.

hmm..well what if a console does not have all of the gem packs? do we just go by whats available? the reason I say to just turn them all off because I am on a strict time block on running it..the thing is I have to do everything from stratch...(set up my own table, take entry fee, generate brackets, organize areas..etc.) and I want everything to run smooth..are gems that important?

They're not going to make or break the game, I mean it's still going to be fun to play without them. It will be 2013 by then so the game will probably be a bit different by then.

I have yet to see anyone blame gems for their losses since the assist gems were nerfed. Just put a timer on picking gems, warn people to have their gem list ahead of time, and everything should be golden. I didn't hear anyone complaining about gems in SF25, so you should be good.

Gem standard rules. Going by Capcom 25th rules.
All gems usable with the except the assist gems that auto block and auto tech. Easy input is allowed.

Now to some things we added a long the way...
No time limit on picking gems before a match begins like the beginning of a set. This is where you should plan everything.
One min timer for swapping gems at change character after a loss. Winner keeps all gems without changing.
If person does not pick their gems in time they get two warnings. If they exceed the two warnings they are dqed for stalling.
The infraction time is 1 min 1:30 min and 2:00. At the 2 min mark its dq. It's your responsibility as a player to prep and prepare your gems. You should know them and it's part of your training. There is no excuses. It should be bang bang between rounds and character change. It keeps things running smoothly as well.

These are the rules we go by in terms of sides and tourney. Mostly i won't pick gems as a sign of respect towards my opponent but if they use the gems i will too. It's vital guys to have your gem set up handy like in you cell and always have optional gem set ups just in case the TO doesn't have them all.

The thing about it is that the console will save whatever Gems you picked at the select screen for the next time you're up, so the process will only become faster and faster as more people get their stuff picked out.

Please no gems. Even in the 25th anniversary most of the players I saw did not use gems. In a game like this where you can calculate how you will kill someone, gems ruin everything. I could look at your life and it shows that you have 500 HP left so I do a 520 damage combo to kill you but then you life just stops going down at some point cause of gems. That's a huge game changer because I could have used a different method to kill you had I known so that I could save my meter or you could win when I should have because you survived. Likewise when you know that players can't do a certain amount of damage and they do because of gems, that could cost you a round easily. That random factor that gems cause especially since you don't know the opponents gem set, should not be allowed in tournaments. Tournaments should be a test of skill, and when players have a better gem set, that has nothing to do with skill.

I even hit someone with a cross art (the 3 meter super) and it did about 100 damage (definitely less than a throw) because of gems. No joke. How can people think that's fair? If time is running out and I am about to kill someone and I hit them with a cross art and it only does 100 damage, and they win, then how is that opponent winning because of skill? I even heard cases of players being thrown and receiving no damage. Certain characters don't even have overheads so their only mixup is to throw, and then they could negate that damage because of gems?

The only reason that gems were allowed in the 25th anniversary wasn't because gems are fair, its because Capcom who made the game really likes gems. As we all know Capcom hasn't been making the wisest decisions, so making a decision to allow gems just because Capcom did so in their tournament is also not a wise decision.

Every single match I had at the LA qualifier used gems. There was none of that "let's just play" nonsense going on. People took their gems seriously.
Combofiend was even telling me how he was worried that he gave Mike Ross the wrong gem advice for his onstream match.

People wrote down their numbers or saved them to their iPhones or whatever. Using the quick keys to scroll through the numbers faster is easy.

It wasn't bad at all, and it's the way this game was always meant to be played.

well I can't run the tournament with no set-ups..lol that deadline is long enough for people to decide if they want this to happen or not..

wow, what airline are trying to use Delta? where are you from...booking your tickets as a roundtrip now should not even be that high...im from atlanta and I once went to D.C roundtrip on airtran first class for less than $200...

My god everyone is making this sound so enticing. And i feel gems have 0 random factor imo. They have a specific purpose, which is catering to the play style of the player. Damage gems reward proper rush down , defense boost gems reward zoning/ defensive play,if u want to tank and spank with kazuya you can, meter gems can bring out the power of meter hungry characters like lili. Its not like gems just magically give you strength and you are winning. It's all up to the player how and when they use gems.

i fully support the idea of being able to choose between using teams or using single player. Just as long as common sense rules apply like:

-payouts go to the team if the team places high enough to get paid
-people cant swap back and forth after tourney starts
-people on a team cant also play as individuals
-Teams should be able to split entry fee (only fair since teams have to split winnings)
