What fighter should I play?

As a guy who is extremely green when it comes to fighters, I've finally decided to step-up from P4U into some of the more "hardcore" games in the genre. Trouble is, I'm having trouble choosing what my first bicycle without training wheels should be, so to speak. My options are: Third Strike, SSFIVAE, SFXT, and BBCSEX. Ideally, I'd like to take it slow and choose the one that would be the easiest to become proficient in. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
[ SSFIVAE ] : Guy, Evil Ryu

[ SFxT ] : Lars / Ken / Guy / Steve

[ SFIII ] : Ken

Take a couple weeks and just play all of them until something sticks out at you. There's really no other way to answer this unless you just want a pushy person deciding for you.

Since you're coming from P4A I believe BBCSEX is best for you since it'll feel familiar.
Never hurts to try out the other ones though, maybe you'll like them better.

but on a console that may not be an option unless he either rents from a store or borrows from a friend or does some unofficial tinkering. but if he has a PC, he can try those titles except the newest Blazblue, though he could try Calamity Trigger and (unofficially) CS1.

if you are still a beginner in Persona, it will not make that much of a difference to become familiar in either Blazblue or Street Fighter anyway.
I'd pick AE, mainly because it has been stable without any patches for many months, so you will not have to change tactics all over again.

Third Strike is not arcade perfect, SFxTekken awaits new patches and DLC and Blazblue will move to Chrono Phantasma
not good at any, mediocre at many

Third Strike. You'll have a lot of fun with it even if you don't understand it right away.

Lol millions. And I'd have to disagree on the you'll never look back part and the learning curve. SF4 is fairly easy and has alot of dumb shit.

As for the OP. Just try them all out. The games are fairly cheap and you'll only know for sure when you try them yourself. I never cared about Blazblue untill I tried it and now it's the only game I play.
But if you want a game where it's easiest to get proficient in: SF4/SfxT. Although you should play a game you find fun to play instead of a game where it's easy to get decent.

Shit nigga if you're playing P4 you'll probably like BlazBlue the best, it's by the same people and has a lot of the same mechanics. But I agree that this is something you'll have to decide for yourself. Give 'em all a try.

Thanks for the responses, as I understand this question may seem somewhat asinine. After all things considered, I've decided to bite the bullet and work my way toward becoming proficient and knowledgeable in SSFIVAE with a secondary focus on Third Strike, difficulty be damned. Thanks again!

And GG is like one of my favorite fighters ever, but I've heard the netcode for the PS version is ass, so I held off.

naw this guys's wrong. there's not millions of active players...That' call of duty right now... Lol
And Sf4Ae is the easiest game you can learn, if you learn quick like me you can probably blow up some players that have playing since regular super in 6 months if you focus on perfect practice and not just practice.
But third strike is also a sick ass option..

    What do you like?
Pick what you want. Do some research on the mechanics and watch some match vids to see how they play and think of what you would like to do when you play a fighter. This also plays into character choice. If you like to fly through the air and do mixups and 100 hit combos, then playing sf4 guile might not be the best idea.

    After that....
Find people that you can get along with that like whatever game after that and play them offline. Online tends to be full of lag and shenanigans that don't necessarily work offline. It isn't the best representation of a game either and can sour perception of the game. Find people that are good and close to you online and add them to your friends list (in addition to your offline group). In fighters you need good competition and lots of practice to stay good.

Note: For 3s, I do suggest that you own a version of it on console but when it comes to versus time, GGPO. With my experience there doesn't really seem to be anyone online, but I do own the PS3 version of OE so your experience may differ.
Skills and attitude prove worth as a player, not the internet.

The reality is that you're going to need a handful of fighting games; it's like buying fruit.

It's cheap(...) and some of them you are bound to discard.
As much as I no longer care about SFIV, newcomers really can't go wrong with it. Get AE and branch off from there.

Meh. Depends on which one. I don't usually recommend Mahvel to newcomers because it's just so salt-inducing

you just need to try them and go with whichever has characters, community and gameplay that you like.
community being people you can find in your area (within an hour or so).

if your experience is limited to p4a i wouldn't suggest 3s. unless you REALLY like the characters and feel of gameplay. if you're just lukewarm about it, i wouldn't bother. imo get another asw game like blazblue or guilty gear. both are good. both are around the same price. go with whichever seems more awesome to you.
    Play more.

I'd say hop on GGPO and give Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo a try. It's free and it'll give you an amazing grounding in the fundamentals of fighting games if you stick with it.
