Let's use the normally-a-stupid-burden social media and blogosphere to get some money donated to the boobies!

I know you're confused, wondering, "What does breast cancer have to do with gaming?" The reasoning is very unique. Breast cancer research and gaming have found a common interest this year.

Every year, there is a very large fighting game tournament series called the Evolution Championship Series (EVO, for short). This year is EVO's biggest year yet, featuring eight fighting games (the largest amount yet). And as you can imagine, all the popular fighting games are present. But you may not be aware of one indie game developer who is currently in the running that could also use some help.

Lab Zero Games is an independent game developer group formed by a few friends who were laid off from her previous job. Their previous job involved the making of a fighting game called Skullgirls. A fighting game made by tournament players, with nearly every feature a tournament player could ever want.

The game uses hand drawn sprites running at 60 frames per second to create one of the most fluid two-dimensional fighting games in years. Youtube videos don't make the game justice. The engine is similar to games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Darkstalkers and Guilty Gear. More importantly, this game came from the combined dreams of two guys: tournament-player and lead programmer Mike Zaimont; and lead artist Alex Ahad. Mike was very interested in creating a fighting game engine that was a balanced combination of several popular fighting games. Alex Ahad was an aspiring artist with a unique universe filled with interesting characters that he hoped to include in a game. When their interests met, they worked nonstop pitching the idea to developers: a tournament game designed by tournament players for tournament players. A month after their game was finally released, the entire team behind the game was laid off due to legal troubles with their parent company, and since then they worked without pay for nearly 8 months to be able to bring to the gaming community a title update (for PS3, but they are still working on the Xbox 360 version). They are still not being paid because their parent company is still involved in legal troubles, so they will likely not see a penny yet. Yeah that was my bad, I did get caught up in the moment.
Also I'm not bursting too much money at once, cause personally I think that's smarter. I will most likely just wait till my paycheck this thursday to donate a bit more.

Just noticed how far ahead Skullgirls pulled ahead of Melee. There's still plenty of time on the clock, but I'm really glad to see Skullgirls pull ahead here. Between Melee and Skullgirls, I think I'd prefer to see more of the latter. I thought it might not have a chance against the SSB community at first, but it's really good to see them in the lead. Still surprised that DOA5 is running pretty strong too, and that Melty got almost no love.

So reading around and such, apparently I've picked up some interesting info.

Apparently the bronies have decided to join our side and are actually supporting SkullGirls now as well.

Also people in the smash community are fucking scary dude, some people are absolutely pissed off that they are joining our side.

My God this is amazing... It's like everyones morale went WAY UP after MLP was removed from the running. ;) And good because as much as I like MLP and Fighting is Magic, I must say, Skullgirls is much more deserving of being the 8th game. SSB comunity might be big but Skullgirls have some real crazy people with a lot of excess money. ;) (Not me unfortunately :( )
