And no, it's definitely not my connection, since I can jump on my PC games and Xbox 360 games with near perfect connections.
That says nothing about your ps3s port forwarding situation on your network.

All I know is that no one else is having these issues with the netcode, which leads me to believe that this is an issue with your network configuration or the person or people you're netplaying with.
Hmmmmmmm, I thought at this point people would be aware of PSN poor networking especially since the VF5 blow up. And it always confuses me when people suggest others to port forward net work connections when they are hard wired, but whatever, I don't expect anyone here to know much about networking anyways.

The proof is in the pudding; PSN has always had poor performance in America and these are facts that have been concluded by basically everyone... well, almost everyone. Some still remain in denial for odd reasons. I'm guessing these people who deny it are people who are involved in the fanboy-type console wars, or just these people can't seem establish the difference.
Sadly, Arcana 3 Love Max is of no exception, as there is a force pre-buffer of 6 frames of input lag at minimum. With the game of it's pace, these leads to very strong online tactics. But then again, I suppose the same can be said of all online games.

Regardless, I expected "more" when I was told how great the netcoding was, when in the end, it seemed irrelevant when it came to american PSN. Always funny playing friends offline and playing them online only to get total opposite results. But alas, what can you do.
All I do is draw naked birds all day.

Port forwarding is a feature that is now standard on internet routers and doesn't have anything to do with how you're connecting to the router, whether through an ethernet cable or wireless adapter. If you have your PS3 connecting to a router then you may still need to manually forward some ports for PSN (check PortForward.com for directions). If your PS3 is connected directly to your modem, check to see if your modem has any built in router features. You can also try running the Internet Connection test in the PS3 system settings to see what NAT type you are being given. If it says NAT Type 3 then there's definitely a connection issue with your PS3.

You keep typing "American PSN" like somehow the code is different from any other PSN version.

I also encourage you to actually read up on what Port Forwarding is, hell there's even a wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_forwarding

Like Drem said it has nothing to do with wired vs wireless connection.

You say the proof is in the pudding and so far you're the only one who seems to have bad pudding in this situation. I have seriously not heard anyone else have this issue.

Double post- call the cops etc. This warrants it though.

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/forum/296-arcana-heart-3/ Nadakai and myself have been hard at work getting an AH3LM subforum up and running over on Dustloop!

Why, you may ask? To help expand discussion of the game, we felt it was best to bring the discussion to an existing playerbase that already has a large overlap with our existing community. I appreciate all that homingcancel has served us over the last few years, but giving the game more exposure and sharing information is always a positive thing.

My copy came in today and I played a few matches online. The netcode seems exactly the same as it was in vanilla, which I thought was pretty good. I do seem to remember people saying the PS3 version of vanilla had slightly more lag than the Xbox360 version back when it came out, just because of the differences between PSN and XBL. Even so, a 3 or 4 connection is perfectly playable and 2 can be decent sometimes.

    Change-list: http://blog.homingcancel.com/arcana-heart-3-love-max-translated-change-list/#more-101

    From dustloop:
    Tigre:
'They aren't, calm down. This is why I dislike when people look at tier lists as the gospel.

    ...

I legitimately feel that the bottom tier in this game can deal with the top two characters. The biggest difference to me is the damage output off of any random hit.
And I play a character that dropped from S tier to B tier according to the Arcadia tier list, watch me give a fuck what that tier list says, my character is still insanely capable, so are yours.'

    Pichy:

'Zenia, Mei Fang, Kira and Kamui all got good buffs. Akane and Nazuna, not so much. Of course, the game's one that very much rewards playing the system more than the character. Just play whoever you enjoy most and share your excitement for the game!!!!!'

Eh NISA in Europe, judging by the current state of the NISA EU store best bet's still importing from America tbh, even if customs gets you it'll still be cheaper and you'll get it quicker.

I heard western players can't play with Japan players but who plays with Japan in AH3 anyway? 4 out of 5 of them boot foreigners anyway.
(well they often did in vanilla AH3 online)

    http://bit.ly/1v5UURA

well some are demanding a patch, but like seriously, if they have to depend on Japan players to have a active community online, they really aren't
networking enough to have their own league in the region for online and expand the AH fanbase.

Plus even ASW netcode isn't so great for NA/EU play with JPN in a lot of cases.

That's not the issue here, the issue is that a number of the US players (myself included) have purchased the game already. This isn't between US and JP players, it's between US and JP copies of the game.

I plan on buying the US copy, but until it comes in I'm unable to play with those who have purchased the US version.

Almost no one thinks they're going to get a good connection with jp lol

That price with PS+ discount... I should have bought digital, considering this game is going to get instantly eclipsed by Ultimax for me. Well I supported the developer I guess.

PS+ price is crazy. Decided to check PSN just for laughs before I went to find a copy. Couldn't believe it.

I had enough points from the gas station to get a $20 PSN card so I'll buy digitally and return my Amazon copy when it arrives. Even with the ~$5 it'll cost to return I still make out way better.

Well to be fair that is how you pronounce it. It's probably the Japanese spelling as opposed to the German.

PS3 and Vita versions in Rice Digital's store are still more expensive, so they do not want to deviate that much, even for a digital version.

But since this is Steam, I'll wait for a Christmas sale to get this and BF together for 15-20 $.

How is meter gain in Love Max?

Vanilla was stupid fun, but you pretty much get meter for free, which I found to be a turnoff.

    (just my opinion)
    - for new players, bursting is (or at least seems to be) more effective than trying to use the "burst gauge" (force gauge) for other purposes; for players who eventually learn how to use the force gauge's other tools, these are often more effective instead (so it could be said that the game, in this sense, doesn't punish new players too much for not knowing how to use the force gauge); it's a lot more difficult to punish a burst than in other games, but in reality, you're losing several good options in the time frame in which you can't use the force gauge
    - it seems like the super gauge is infinite (because it refills after a while, after being used), but as you become more familiar with the game, meter building becomes more important (more like, each time you spend the super gauge early, you're slowing your meter building), and getting 2 or 3 levels give you more options for spending the super gauges on
    - knowing that you can block anytime while you do a forward step, and that you can block from the pre-jump frames of a high jump (not a normal jump; this is known as high jump guard, and is done by pressing a guard direction that's different from the input you used to jump, so for example, 287, or 274, or 271), these two movement options are often safe; you don't have to stop yourself from moving out of fear of quick (unreactable) air unblockable attacks
    - you can't jump cancel or airdash when too close to the ground, and this removes a lot of ambiguous (and potentially unreactable) high/lows (jump-in attack -> jump cancel -> aerial attack, or jump-in, airdash near ground, aerial attack)
    - there's this weird corner crossup (in which you're guaranteed to cross-up your opponent if you're facing the wall and touching it), but when I think about it, it further rewards the attacker for cornering the opponent, and without it, it would be quite more difficult to mix your opponent up (as opposed to midscreen), considering the other defensive resources (high-jump guard, extend blast guard cancel, forward/backward guard cancels, wind arcana's pushblock..)
    - if you like the idea of punishing your opponent's pressure if you guessed it right (and reacted to it, and the opponent used a punishable -- high risk/high reward in form of either damage or frame advantage), and is okay with being punished instead if you didn't, you might like the game more
    - there are several movement options in the air (thanks to the homing mechanic and the regular options -- airdash, double jump..), you have lots of options to choose which attack you want to use, while not being pressured too hard on the ground thanks to either extend blast guard cancel or the risk of a forward/backward guard cancel against moves with long recovery (and low enough active frames)
    - the clash system is also another fun part of the game, clash tends to happen more often in arcana (since even if you hit someone's hurtbox, clashable hitboxes seem to be checked first -- not all attacks can be clashed though, and some attacks have clash on their startup), and reacting to them feels rewarding
    - I'd say that learning different arcanas is way easier than learning different characters, so don't be afraid to test them

With the steam version just released, I figured I'd post some links/info here.

The main thing to note is that the previous AH forum (homingcancel.com) is no longer active, and hasn't been fore some time. The main forum community is now at dustloop, and homingcancel is only temporarily available while I'm pulling some of the useful information over.

There is also a thread in which I've compiled some of the various guides and tutorials that are out there, and should be a good first place to point new players.

The wiki is a valuable resource for most of the hard-info for the game.

A number of players primarily hang out in the IRC channel (info on the wiki), or in the AH3 skype chat (most descriptions suggest requesting an invite from Sanger Zonvolt, but there's a few people on Skype by that name so you might need a bit of trial-and-error there).

It's ok, there are a number of small issues abound. I guess it would've helped to do a beta..

-some crashing issues (think this is mostly fixed..)
-some control issues - assigning keyboard keys, some controls don't work during character select screen (this may have also been fixed..)
-a couple missing frames of animation, e.g. one of Kira's specials and some Mike frames during some of Yoriko's moves
-game ran too fast in windowed mode (seems ok now I think?)

Netcode is supposedly similar to the console version, e.g. feels pretty good as long as you're not playing someone far away with a bad connection rating.

My bad, should have posted this here a long time ago. Then again this is the last place I'd expect to find an Arcana Heart player frequenting, more so than dustloop.

    http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/forums/topic/11964-15-for-brazilian-steam-version/

This is a Brazilian IP trick to get AH for $15. I won't be able to play the Steam version till I get this boot camp crap setup, one of my HDDs died and I had to pick the PC with better specs to keep alive, which unfortunately is the Mac.
