1) Infiltration, because he will choose Akuma/Gouken/Hakan/?? appropriately to give him an advantageous matchup, although he doesn't seem to have a counterpick for Yun or Cammy yet

exactly ... daigo if he finally decides to counterpick like infiltration does for years + daigo has a biger set of characterrs in the pocket ... he has one of the best (if not the best) Yun ,a strong akuma a fantastic guile,cammy ... so if he finally stops that character loyalty bulshit he could be the NM.1 again in the world

No PR Rog is the strongest. I'd be surprised if any other american player makes it to a better spot than him at evo. He beat Ricky and Dieminion with a character he picked up a month ago and both of them could also be called the best american player.

hmmm i didnt folow the american scene lately... i just know ricky has a pocket cammy (which is allready a monster) , justin has a strong adon too ,pr rog droped barlog for fei long (but hes gonna use him probably in certain matchups) so its really hard to pick one as the strongest ...for my taste its sadly ricky ortiz

Take for instance SoCal..... who did we see most of the time? Gootecks, PR Rog, Ricky Ortiz and Filipino Champ ( not sure of ethnicity but brown), Justin Wong, James Chen, Infiltration, Dieminion, AfroCole, Alex Valle, Hugo101, Snake Eyez, Mike Ross.......... to be honest I can't even remember a white guy being there :D

I heard that one a stream a few days ago from kazunoko, that he's been giving Daigo tips on ae2012 Yun. And he also said that Daigo was using Yun at the arcade all day just the other day...

Even as a foreigner I really hope an American player wins EVO this year, it would be nice to see the hosts win it at least once. If not, then lets see that European magic please!

A few words on the players :

-PR Rog has insane reactions and a good chance to go really far but I he will have a hard time competing with all the visiting stars.
-Infiltration, well everyone will want to beat him at this point. Not too far ago Hugo specifically planned against his Akuma and I bet others are also making their own "notes". D
-Daigo is still the best player in the world in my opinion even though Infiltration is up there definitely. He just needs to devote some time to Yun again and use the character for all those difficult match-ups (Dhalsim etc).

Top 5 in no specific order : PR Rog, Daigo, Infiltration, Kazunoko and.....hopefully Dieminion just for hype!

Anyways, Fuudo is top 3 or so in my book. The dude plays Fei. It's awesome that Dieminion and Daigo are doing their thing, and they can definitely make top 8 again, but the biggest tournament will not be won by Ryu or Guile alone.

I think Daigo is the best overall player, hes got the best footsies, experience and reads on people but I dont think he can win it with Ryu. Ryu needs more tools, like what Akuma has.

Anyway Daigo needs to counterpick if hes going to win anything.

I think Daigo is good enough and Ryu is good enough. He won Japan and he took 2nd to Infiltration on Capcom 25th. He beat Infiltration 3-0 before losing 6-0.

He is good enough, his Ryu is good enough. But over the course of championship with 2000 people there are simply too many things that can go wrong, too many chances to do a couple of poor reads in a row.....

When it comes to the top 8, if you exclude terrible matchups, it's pretty much a coin toss.

I can understand Japan has the better arcade scene, and all that. However why is it most of the top American players are Asian as well? It's like when you go on the basketball court and some fit black dude walks on. You automatically think...alright watch out for that dude! Same thing with asians and fighting games it seems.
