Gem Setups for Evo 2013

So Evo are going with the default gem setups introduced in the 2013 patch if you use new Save Data.

These gem setups are not great.

Sample 1: 001, 019, 038 (Immense power / Attack)
Sample 2: 046, 050, 056 (Iron wall / Defense)
Sample 3: 205, 207, 214 (Onslaught / Cross gauge)
Sample 4: 024, 139, 245 (Pandora)
Sample 5: 001, 048, 205 (Balance)

So what gem setups would you prefer Evo (and it's Road To qualifiers) to use instead?

I personally use this setup for both my characters and think it offers good boosts that are instantly applicable: (Grid and header shamelessly stolen from eventhubs)

Honestly, I don't think your gem set is any better than the ones they gave us. In any case, I agree that they could be greatly improved, but we should get some kind of confirmation from Capcom that they would even be willing to change them before making suggestions.

Gems have very little influence on the overall gameflow. The presets are enough to "pick and forget". The preset sets are not good anyway.

Meter Gain, And Balance are the only worthwhile.

It wouldn't be about Capcom changing them, it'd be Evo changing them manually and then sharing the gem setup.

    What would you suggest instead?

It would never work unless Capcom changed it. Even if we could come to a consensus of good default sets, the amount of time and effort required from TO's would be unreasonable. It's not like EVO or anyone can just upload gem setups somewhere for everyone to download.

If that were available, that would largely solve the selection issue.  Perhaps even people store their personal setups online (keeping DLC gems banned for fairness) to be downloaded at a tourney.

That said, it would require Capcom to do something like that to begin with

In any case, the presets aren't optimal at all, but they are most certainly better than the prevalent "no gems" play and at least introduce the basic concept.  I'm personally okay with that for now until either Capcom expands the preset selections, or outright makes gem selection an easier process for TOs (and players who don't like the current selection method) bearable.
