SSFIV AE Problems connecting to GFWL

(I posted this in the Computer subforum earlier today since it seems to be a problem with my computer rather than with the game itself, but that section seems to be almost dead judging by the post rate. I didn't know where would be the best spot, so if there's a better place for this thread please tell me or move it. Thanks!)

I've been playing SSFIV AE on my PC for a few weeks now, but I can only play local multiplayer or CPU matches. Every time I try to connect to GFWL, it gives me no response. I scroll down to the "LIVE" option in the main menu and select it, but nothing happens. I can hear the sound confirming I've selected this option, but nothing changes. No dialog box, no login screen, nothing. The menu selection for "Games for Windows - LIVE BATTLE" only returns a dialog box saying I must be signed into GFWL.

I've tried running the GFWL client from the desktop before starting the game (as that fixed the problem I had with Dark Souls when I first installed that game), but it has no effect on the outcome. It may be a problem the program is having connecting to anything, since if I try and access the "Steam Store" option it says I must launch the game from the Steam Client (no matter how I actually launch it). I have the most up-to-date versions of GFWL and Steam.

I've looked around for answers to this problem, but I haven't seen anything like my specific problem that actually helped my situation. I'm sure there's an obvious answer, but I can't find it, so if anyone knows of any way to help out that would be awesome.

Might be a port issue, sometimes if you are not allowing a certain port you won't get access to gflw. Wait a second don't you have to be logged in to play the game at all ? (unless it's the cracked version but if you got it from stream then I really don't know)

The Soaring White Dragons are a dying breed.
Don't let the art of Yun be a memory.

Always remember that losing doesn't mean you suck.
Refusing to acknowledge what other players bring to the table means you suck.

GFWL works when it's not in connection to Street Fighter. I've never seen any kind of login thing when I open the game, but I vaguely remember something about having to have GFWL Marketplace open when I first started it. It doesn't do that now, though, since I can access the offline game without using GFWL at all. Even when I am signed in to GFWL on the desktop it doesn't recognize it or let me sign in through the game itself.

You bought it from Steam doesn't mean you need to play Steam to play SSFV. You can launch the game stand alone, GFWL will launch automatically "in game" right on the splash screen, and ask for a cd key, do some update, then ask you to login with an account. You make this account online from the website.

You can always play SSFIV offline but I think you log the account anyway (so probably need to log once "online" for this account to be registered for later "offline" play).

There's a keyboard shortcut to call the Guide UI, the GFWL panel when you see your current logged account, messages etc...

Port forwarding never should be an issue for usual software jobs it only helps making true connection between 2 pairs that have a particular setup, unless you have a very restrictive network setup with routers and firewall closed. You don't play from the NRA building I guess. Port forwarding is a "better have" not a "must have".

When GFWL fail to connect you know it, there's a pop up in your face saying it. If you don't have this, you have a serious problem. What about this GFWL panel on top of the screen you should ba able to call anytime with the keyboard key ?
