    That's not as bad as some of the people who saw that video I posted of those two guys playing in Japan and they thought they saw Jago doing new moves and shit. LOL.

    Double Helix released their own version of the trailer that lets you hear a good bit of Sadira's theme. Also plays what is supposedly an enhanced version of Orchid's old theme.

    Yes, they did show it. It's a trap web thingy.

    Oh and to answer someone's question: You can't break air to air combos from Sadira, only ground to air and obviously ground combos. Basically, don't get into the air. Mike (Dev) told me that in the chat when I asked.

    Yeah when she goes into instinct mode whenever she double jumps she creates a Testament/Trish style trap with her webbing. Basically giving her another way to break out of combos. If you run into the trap while she's in instinct mode you get caught in the web trap. I've also heard rumors that her instinct mode also allows you to jump cancel her normals and stops the KV meter from rising, but nothing official.

    I've heard what Mike said about breaking air combos. Which it makes sense since the whole point of juggles being unbreakable is it gives you at least one situation where you can get guaranteed combos (just like Dead or Alive). Now with the potential meter system you can rack up a combo that gets you to a level 4 combo ender, stop the combo without doing the ender, hit them again and immediately go into the ender after a few hits which will retain the level 4 ender. Then while their KV is still low you can do a long, inescapable juggle combo. Obviously Sadira's playstyle is based around being able to naturally put people in these "unbreakable" combos.

    Yet...this is what Buktooth specifically said about breaking out of Sadira's air combos.

    Stream monster asks (Microsoft lady in chat reading the question) "Are air combos from Sadira breakable?"

    Buktooth says "Ummm...anything involving normal moves (something inaudible for me), so when i do launcher into j.HK into stuff, break the j.HK"

    So apparently the first jump normal Sadira does can be breakable. Not sure if he was also alluding to the fact that all jump normals used in the air combo were breakable, but he definitely mentions that for at least one part of the air combo, you can break out while in the air.

    I heard Ken Lobb say you activate the web balls by pressing HP+HK and I think he said you can place one anytime, as many times as you want. Looks like you can only have 1 on screen at a time.

    That would explain why at one point I saw someone get trapped on the ground when she didn't even jump.

    There are no charge moves in the game. Just back/forward tap motions like Mortal Kombat (which Sabrewulf has specifically).

    Why no charge moves? I understand they want a really offensive game, but there are numerous examples of offensive charge characters.

    If I were to take a guess... its that the pool of people that really like charge characters is small. Even among FG players, tons of people don't like charge moves, and players new to FG's really dislike them.

    So I think there's alot of motivation to design the game in such away that charge moves aren't needed at all. Look at recent 2D fighters. Oustide of character returning from old games, how many new charge characters have been created... its pretty close to 0.

    BB finally has a charge character. That only took 4 games. One character out of 26 is still proving my point.

    Yeah the last charge characters I remember were Mitsuru and Parasoul. Both of those characters are in anime games which means the charge time for their moves is reduced in like half compared to SF any way.

    There isn't really a specific need for charge moves anymore. Casuals have made it known that they don't like being forced into moving into a specific direction on the screen to do a special move. They're the ones that mostly dictate whether the game sells well enough to get updates, so yeah. You can mostly offset needing a charge by just increase the start up of the special move or just fixing how it works some other way.

    I don't mind charge characters since they force patience from the player, but there's way to do it without forcing them into a specific direction of the screen first.



    For the most part charge characters have become the "token black character" of fighting games now.

    Yeah it's just common knowledge that charge times are reduced in air dash games to compensate for the faster movement that is necessary for those games.

    Sweet, I thought they were keeping the charge moves from the originals. I hate charge moves. I loved them when I was a kid and doing diagonals hurt my thumb, but I can't stand them anymore.

    There are games where the charge time is so low that the character is literally a back forward character. (Breakers Revenge). Some characters do need to be charge by design. Bison, Guile and Vega with all directional inputs would be stupid/awesome.

    Yeah that's mainly because those moves have extremely quick start up and rather safe properties. In other fighting games they usually find other ways to compensate for how the special moves work without utilizing charge.

    TJ Combo was a charge character back in the day. Since the game's design theory is focused on play style niches, that could be his.

    That's one thing about this game I really appreciate. Hearing the devs talking so much about how intentional all of their decisions are about how their characters play is something I don't hear that often in fighting game development. Centering the development focus on filling specific roles in a fighting game cast has the potential for minimizing tier spread (as the core of the metagame moves towards matchups instead of picking based on raw performance; weakness and strengths come from how well a character's niche meshes with the opponent's niche and not how much priority your character has over the rest of the cast).

    Only time I can think of where (I felt) a developer was this deliberate in setting firm roles for their characters was Skullgirls (and even then it was mostly implied, they didn't explain their thought process as well as DH is).

    Well Killer Instinct in general had one of the most demanding set of motions for any fighting game. Killer Instinct 2 had really weird stuff like df,d,db+ a button. In KI1 you had Primal Rage style negative edge motions for the shadow moves where you held the button down first, then did the motion for the move.

    In general Killer Instinct had a lot of really arbitrary rules for its combo system and special moves and they're trying to marginalize that issue in the new game.

    Honestly, that trailer would've gotten the fan base even more Hyped.

    I'm wondering which moves will she have, though. Her moveset from KI to KI2 changed drastically, but I wouldn't mind these:

    Lasaken - KI
    Flick Flak - KI
    Rising Knee - KI2
    Sliding Kick - KI2
    Flaming Cat Teleport - New
    Killer Instinct 3: Chief Thunder/Jago/Orchid Tekken Tag/Revolution: Asuka/Bryan/Jin. Injustice: Solomon Grundy/Lex Luthor/Harley Quinn

    Sadira's design seems to have changed slightly from the Thunder trailer (I think she was wearing some kind of lower face mask in that trailer; personally I liked that better than those odd embellishments around her eyes).

    The character in the thunder trailer wasn't actually Sadira, it was one of her minions.

    However, DH has changed the designs from version to version according to feedback, so we don't know how much changed from A to B.

    It also lets us know that they are deliberately hiding things in the teasers, which makes me think about the Orchid reveal. My guesses about orchid based on the trailer:
    -Firecat may be her instinct mode
    -Those goggles might be an accessory.
    UMvC3: Viper/Dante/Strider, Jill/Dante/Wesker, Nova/Spencer/Sentinel
    Killer Instinct: Thunder, Spinal, Jago
    SF4: Hugo, Abel, Oni, Yang
    SF3:Yang

    Yeah I feel like they'll probably give Orchid a new move or two. It remains to be seen if she'll still turn into the firecat as a special or if they'll make her use the firecat as a projectile now (since it's difficult to make 3d figures shapeshift).

    That's because the girl in the trailer was one of Sadira's minions. It wasn't actually her. Supposedly part of the reason she was changed was because of people crying about MK lookalike also.

    Now that I think about it, yeah, it makes sense. The Laser Cat is probably her Instinct and probably works similar to Thunder's Shadow Dash.

    I actually would guess if Firecat is her instinct, it will fight with her. It could be complicated like BB's Carl, or it could be more simple like Yang's Seiei Enbu.

    It can't be that difficult, they already have Glacius liquifying... I'm sure they could pull off the transformation through some trickery lol.
