Hi I'm new to here and there's a Ken combo and I've asked many places w/o answer.
c.short several times xx axe kick (QCF k)
I saw this in some combo videos and if this should be character specific, the one I saw was done by N.Ken to Gief.
How is this possible? I'm taught that in SF2 series, rapid jab/short several times cannot be canceled without using kara canceling, but I've also seen Ryu/Ken's cr.jab*2 connected into DP. It's not Kara cancelling like c.short into Shoryureppa I'm afraid, as axe is a kick special. So any instructions on input? Or the combo movies are tool-assisted? Thanks.
And how can Ken jump forward so quickly after doing c.short * 3 like this video (at 0:40)? It's nearly a high jump cancel like in sfIII3rd.
Anything special in input? Just precise timing will do?
I had to do Shoryureppa move to get normal DP when I have no gauge,

Whiff your entire SOUL into c.MK in 3S.

You don't necessarily have to kara cancel in order to cancel c.shorts/c.jabs into specials, you can just link them instead enabling you to do a normal buffer to cancel.

Thanks! Great to know! So do I just need to speed up my inputs to get cr.short, st.short linked to jab dragon punch?

Just one, if your opponent has perfect tick throw timing.

Hey guys. I'm trying to learn a little N. Ken for matchup purposes, and this thread has some very good info.
Although, I was able to get s. hp into super, I can't get c. short x 2, super. What is the input for it? Am I buffering the first qcf in the 2nd c. short or am I doing c. short x 2, then do double qcf really fast, then drum punches? I've tried both of those ways, and I have yet to get it even once.
I'd appreciate the help. Thx.

To do Ken's short, short xx super it goes.
cr.short, cr.short, qcf X2 then jab AND short.

I was wondering if you guys knew any good little matchup related tidbits to keep in mind. For example, a strong player friend of mine told me stand roundhouse is very effective against guile. I haven't since faced any guiles to test this, but for now I'll take his word for it.
But I was wondering if there were any other little character-specific nuggets I should know. Such and such move helps shut down such and such character. Or never do such and such move versus such and such character (never try to crossup blanka on wakeup?), etc. Thanks.
Another question.. I've noticed that after knee bash, a lot of times when I go for the immediate jumping jab, they will have not yet fallen and I end up too early and get nailed after my jump jab whiffs. Are there certain characters this tactic is unreliable against? This has been happening against honda mostly, but it doesn't always happen, leaving me very confused.
I just want to make sure I'm not getting killed off of knee bash since that's supposed to be one of n. Kens best tactics. I've become scared to go for it!
Thanks in advance. For the most part this thread has been excellent!

I know against Honda you actually have to hesistate a split second before you jump (it's tough), and I know you jump too far to repeat the pattern against Chun and Guile. I can't speak for sure how the trap works against Zangief or Blanka but I generally don't use it against them due to it being a bit too risky.

Every Ken player can learn a hell of a lot from this video.

Basically if you've ever played CvS2 then you should know what a short jump is. You can perform a tatsumaki kick while doing a short jump (there is no short jump in ST, however the timing is the same i.e. you can do a juice kick in CvS2), it's very fast and difficult to do at first. It's really easy once you get the motion down. All you need to remember is to never let your thumb (center of your thumb) leave neutral on the D-pad. As for using a J-stick it's much easier, you just need to get the motion down. Do NOT practice doing the 225 degree motion in reverse (example Fei Long's windmill kick or Sagat's Tiger Knee), it's faster to just tap up+towards and then QCB; this will also improve you're accuracy.

thanks for the upload!
oh kinda an embarassing question, but how do you do juice kick properly with Ken?
