fuck steelbooks, i need that custom phase 1 and collector's 2 box sets to be re-issued (at a lower price, of course)
GOTG vol. 2 was really fun, almost as good as the first one and then some.
that adam warlock tease was good but the guardians 3000 easter egg was the best by far
    GOTG.jpg
boss fight with the big bad was pretty meh though, could have been better imo

Gotg 2 suffered from trying to squeeze in too much character development AND laughs at the same time. As a consequence, some moments felt forced and took me out of it. This made it weaker than GotG 1 where scenes flowed more naturally into each other and the gags often WERE the character development.

I still liked it and will definitely watch it a second time. Hoping i'll enjoy it more the second time.

Why would he need a fucking mask? He's the freaking king of his people. He's one of the most powerful individuals in the universe. He has no secret identity. Fuck the mask.

Crystal was basically a teenager in her first appearances in the comics.

I wonder if they'll find a way to bring QS or Ronan back for this show.

GOTG Vol. 2 was good. I liked it but I do feel in trying to flesh out the characters it may have stretched itself a bit thin. Overall, not as good as the first but definitely an enjoyable movie.
I was dying when the Zune came out. Stan Lee as a pseudo-Watched was a nice treat too. Warlock teaser was nice but I was wondering how many people got the reference in the theater.

I enjoyed it. I think it's one of the better sequels that Marvel has done. It's a pretty well contained story while fleshing out the story beats and character from the first movie . At times I think it fell into the category of "HEY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FEEL THIS WAY ABOUT X CHARACTER". Overall, worth seeing.

From what I know about the series, I don't think they're going to be in those costumes longer than episode. I also heard Medusa is gonna be losing most of her hair.

Nah I had more fun with this movie than the first Guardians.

Grown Groot > Baby Groot, but that's about it. Really loved the character development for Yondu and Nebula.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 impressioins:

    Pros:

    Humor especially Drax

Character development for Star Lord, Yondu, Nebula

    Music choices.

final Battle was good and had more personal stakes.

Yondu's escape. It should have been brutal ,but it was funny.

    The twist involving THAT character

ending had some emotional resonance which is a good contrast to all the wacky hijikns that Guardians usually is.

    Cons:

The first hour feels a bit disjointed.

I didnt care for the Sovereign aka the Golden People as villains at all.

I wish there was at least one more action scene in the first half. It was a bit too talky.

Gamora was basically the same gruff badass. Hopefully she lets her hair down a bit more next time.

IMO equal to the first (Better in some ways , worse in others)

    Overall: 8/10

I saw GOTG2 last night. Pretty good. I'd say I like it about as much as the first one. Big spoilers though:
Here's my reaction to the end:
"Oh, come on, we know Yondu's not going to die. Peter's going to whip out some extra doo-hickey at the last second, or get his space suit off and put it on him."
*Cut to Yondu on a funeral bed*
"...um...we-we know he's going to sit back up any minute now. Those patches are like Sensu beans or something. PUT THE EULOGY AWAY, PETER!"
    *Cut to the cremation*
".........you-you know, matter doesn't just disintegrate like Yondu did. Maybe he's in some alternate dimension waiting to be picked up. He's going to be so pissed they put him there."
*Cut to all the Ravagers giving a fireworks salute*
    "NOOOOOOOO! YONDU! YONDUUU!"

Not proud of it, but those were my exact thoughts.
As soon as they said "well I can give you one space suit and one jet pack", I knew exactly where that was going. Waaaaay too telegraphed. Still good, but -- definitely saw that coming.

Also the "space suit" design was pretty lame.

If they had just released that trailer and not the cast photo, I would be much more excited for this. But the confirmation of Blackbolt without the trademark mask and tuning fork on his head and Medusa looking mediocre hits like getting a dick pic sent to my phone from a family member just before a big holiday gathering. It maybe/hopefully is just an accident but the damage of that image has been done for all future interactions.

Which is sad as the rest of the cast aren't bad, but I feel like we are going to get CW quality visuals when I wanted much better.

I don't think Black Bolt has necessarily to wear the tuning fork on his head every time, considering it's mostly a battle device. He's not going to wear it when he's just chilling with his family.

My suspicion here is that he'll wear a royal crown with a tuning fork at some point of the series.

I am about halfway through Guardians 2 but it seems all character development just stopped and has been non existent in this movie and the jokes are a lot more miss than hit.

Saw Guardians 2: Electric Boogaloo yesterday. It was entertaining but felt very shallow and completely inferior to the first film. The whole time I got the feeling there was an overwhelming pressure by Marvel to make a more "X-treme!!!!!!!" version of what made the first film work, which made everything hit-or-miss. Most notably was the constant slight buildup in tension only to have some comedic pratfall every 5 seconds, even at the most potentially cataclysmic moments; it sucked away any sense of danger. I got the impression they expected it work how it did in The Avengers:

    Hulk-hits-Thor-after-defeating-alien.gif

But unlike the Avengers, they ran this slapstick concept into the ground, especially in the last few acts.

The dialogue and certain interactions like Quill "playing catch" with papa Ego felt corny and certain plot points really maxed out my suspension of disbelief meter concerning the logic- like how Ego fashioned himself after humans even though he didn't discover humans until going reaching earth. The whole film just felt like they were trying to overdo a simple formula that worked by pushing in every dated pop culture reference and comedy schtick possible per minute, making it feel like a teenage redditors GotG fanfiction script of sorts. Fortunately, the visuals, comedy, and action sequences hit the mark enough times that I was willing to overlook these transgressions and enjoy the ride. The after endings and amazing effort they took with the visuals and references was excellent.

But's let's be real here, if the first GotG film copied this style, I don't think the fanfare would've been as strong.

    Overall, I give it a solid 7/10.

In entertainment factor, action and humor I found the first movie superior, but this new one has more emotional depth, it's a great complement to the first one.

Supposedly it's supposed to confirm that Stan is a Watcher, and all his cameos make ALL the Marvel movies part of the same multiverse... Including the Fox films as a nod to the suspected deal they have going forward.

It's not a rumor since Fox needed Marvel to get Legion and The Gifted off the ground. Marvel TV are co-producing the shows. Even so, it just means their TV guys are getting along. Film division is another story.
