At least prove yourself as a product first before you start with merchandising... Smash has the Amiibos, but hell, it's Smash.

$150 is standard for a statue like that.

If I wasn't already caught up in getting some doujins & figues for other stuff I may have popped down the money for this lol. If they make one for Zenyatta I may not be able to resist.

Curious, how open were the levels for characters like Hanzo & Widow Maker to move around in? Also do characters have varying health totals?

Yes, there was definitely varying health totals. Tankier characters were harder to kill, not to mention having armor and such.

Also, I guess it depends on the level. On the egyptian level, I was able to climb up almost any surface with hanzo. But his climb seemed to have a timer, like you can climb X feet high, rather than just climbing up any wall. So the really tall walls, I couldnt climb up. But they were definitely designed with mobility in mind. At one point we had to capture a control point where there was basically 2 bottlenecks to choose from, but with him (and also with Reaper) I was able to climb/teleport up to the top of the choke, and attack from there, catching some of the people off guard. With characters like Reinheardt, you're forced with no mobility to just come in with your shield nad your high HP to survive. It played very different.

The other map where we had to escort a cart, payload style, that one felt like it mattered less vertically and more was about horizontal distance. But it could just be because I was playing a non mobile character on that map that I just didnt notice the verticalness of the map? I did try reaper when I was defending on that map, and was able to set up some flanks with his teleport/shadowstep, which was awesome. Popping up behind a sniper and unloading with shotguns was sweet.

Health totals definitely varies heavily between some characters, from what I've seen the health totals are.

    600 - Reinhardt.
500 - Winston (goes up to 1000 in beserk mode).
    250 - Reaper, Bastion.
200 - Hanzo, Widowmaker, Pharah, Mercy, Torjborn (Dwarf Engineer), Symmetra.
    150 - Tracer, Zenyatta.
    TAKING YOU PUNKS DOWN!!!
^Bubbleberry_VII you are so godlike for making this.

Blizzard doesn't want to over-sexualize females, but adding in the stereotypical characters is no problem. You got indian zen-dude and you got hanzo the samurai/archer dude.

They need to add a cyborg spear-chucker. Obviously he would be black and speak with an African accent.

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not, if it is forgive me. This "Indian zen-dude" is a robot, you've only got your self to blame for automatically assuming anyone dressed in that garb and sitting cross-legged is indian. I don't see any problem with Hanzo either, he uses a bow and arrow and is Japanese. I see nothing wrong with a Japanese guy dressing with his culture in mind. Not to mention he has funny chicken lookin' robot legs. Next thing ya know you've got people complaining that the Reaper is a stereotype because all shadowy people are assassins...

    I don't see why.

Based on the sudden change in art style compared to Blizzard games of the last 10 years, the fact that it's a class based shooter, one can come to the conclusion that TF2 was at least an inspiration. Especially considering TF2 has been going strong for 7 years, it makes sense that other developers would take the hint and try something similar of their own.

    Anyway...

That ninja and cowboy look boss - I need info asap.

As for the known characters, I'm intrigued by Tracer, Reinhardt, Widowmaker and Bastion.

Its not entirely a class based shooter though. Its a character based shooter. You choose a role (Support, damage, tank) and choose a character that fills that role (Tracer, Hanzo, Reaper). TF2 you choose a class (Scout, Sniper) then choose the loadout for that class (Fan, Bow).

Its not an unfair comparison as most people know TF2, and they even have like Payload maps, but it feels less like TF2 when you get your hands on it. Having abilities alone takes it to a new level. Youre not only defined by your guns.

Did you notice any Man vs. Machine/Horde mode options?

Also great to hear about payload maps. Anything that stops the game from being just a plain deathmatch. CP_Dustbowl and PL_Goldrush had me addicted to TF2 for a long time. Funny that they're both extremely linear.

They said theres no deathmatch period. All matches are objective based. CP and Payload is what they had, with the Egyptian CP being attack/defend style CP. I didnt get to play the japanese map.

Right now theres like no options, and too early to really think about that. They dont seem to want to restrict choices; no locking one team to just bad guys vs good guys, or allowing only 1 of a class to be used for the entire game. I feel like that will be fun for pro matches, drafting in a 6v6 format, but for casual play they are keeping it as open as possible; you can even switch heroes at base as much as you want.

People are going to find a way to subtly get deathmatch in this game, even if it means everyone flocking to the nearest equivalent of Hightower.

Though that example is only because of easy it is to hold a stalemate on that map.

He's a support/healer with seemingly decent offensive capabilities, single target heal over time *probably no range limit so you don't have to be tied to the player like the other healer class, but limits 1 healing orb per player* , a amplify *1 orb per enemy* and a invincible AoE heal ulti with very wide coverage.

He appeals to those that want that playstyle vs the other defensive yet mobile healer class.

Though movesets are subject to change so we'll see if it sticks.

    A tad bit off topic;

His character design and moveset reminds me a shitload of Inhibitor from Bloodline Champions who is a support debuff/buff character who is a LOT more fleshed out.

    http://www.bloodlinechampions.com/bloodline_inhibitor.php

*red text on the abilities are EX abilities. Also all projectile abilities have no auto aim or click to aim mechanics for reference.

Would be kinda neat if his main attack moves inflicted amplify debuff stacks instead and gave him another move instead. Ideally if his main attack also doubled as a heal+buff when used on allies and then that frees up 2 abilities, though that may make him a bit too versatile.

I don't know how serious I can take the criticism that its a clone. Clones can be more than fine games. SF2 gave rise to a million and one clones, some of which were fucking great. A lot of the gameplay stuff looks boss as all hell. Unfortunately I'll stay in the PS3 pleb race and won't be able to play with the PC people.

Oh I understand the tactical applications of his skill set on a good team, I just don't think they sound like they're as much fun to actually use as the skill sets of other characters.

Zenyatta's going to set his buff/debuff choices early, spend a lot of time plodding along taking pot-shots, and occasionally take himself essentially out of the game for a few moments in exchange for some group healing.

That sounds like it could be a very effective contributor to a winning team, but it also sounds like the team member having the least amount of actual fun.

Well im saying this in comparison of the other healer i suppose. Who generally just has a healing beam that can toggle for a damage boost for allies, a seemingly weak pistol with slowish projectile velocity *it could be potentially powerful like TF2 medic's syringe gun if you land all the shots*, a target ally dash, float, and a rez ulti; she's almost entirely defensive.

    So similar case.

Healing/support classes usually get that impression and the people that end up sticking with them usually don't mind not going out there and wrecking shit, they generally enjoy watching their team mates turn into gods of destruction and plowing through entire waves of team members because of them. *aka Medic/heavy for pubs, Medic/solider with kritz, etc...*

Also I have a feeling Zenyatta will have a pretty active role. Having that debuff on a opponent would probably encourage them to sit out of the fight or risk getting blown up. So Zen would probably be swapping debuffs around, swapping the heals over time, sorta micromanaging all of this while maintaining a constant offense, supporting fire with his team mates.

That's just mentioning his current moveset. Sounds fun for me atleast.

Being a big TFC fan, TF2 was a pretty big letdown for me. Overwatch, however, seems fairly interesting at least. The character classes seem more unique and varied. So far, the two tank guys and Pharrah interest me the most. Pharrah has a rocket launcher, and rocket juggles were always my forte in TFC and arena style games.

Um, borderlands is a decent idea but in borderlands you just have the 1 ability to use, whereas in this game you have the 4. So I dont think borderlands is really apt at all for a comparison. Firefall maybe, but theres definitely no open world or anything so Im not sure why that game is coming in, due to the differnet mechs?

Think of it as Super Monday Night combat type characters, but in tf2 style maps, wit ha higher focus on mobility

They may as well be character classes... except they just have names instead of soldier, medic, etc. It's more or less the same thing.

I'm guessing there will be CTF modes, as I absolutely hate control point maps.
