Venom arcade stick PS4/PS3

Hi guys!
do you have heard anything about the Venom PS4 arcade stick? I take a look at the description and photos(since it´s the only thing we got) and it looks like the mayflash V2, the case looks the same used on the mayflash v2.
Since the descrition says it has premium quality parts (I dont know what they call premium quality parts) I assume it comes with sanwa or seimitsu parts. The color of the buttons and balltop looks navy, so maybe it has the PS-15 navy(I dont believe but it´s the only quality buttons I know with that color). The price is 75€($86), a nice chance to get a PS4 stick. It looks nice btw, here is some photos:

I was looking on the net and I found other PS4 stick with the same name but different in all aspects, looks a kind of cheap one, here is it:

On the Venom, I would bet that the buttons and lever are Chinese knockoffs (albeit reportedly decent ones if they're the same as what's in the Mayflash V2). That case will accept Sanwa and Seimitsu parts without additional modding, though if it's like the V2 you have to either splice in a 5 pin harness or order one of the cables @deserada found for the V2. Easy either way, I'd go for it in your situation- the case is nice (should have easily swappable are also since it's a v2 shell), and there aren't many options for a ps4 pcb at the moment. Hell, I would consider ordering one myself is the ps4/ps3 model was offered stateside.

As for the second one, I don't know anything about it- I'd avoid it unless you come across info suggesting it's worthwhile.

looks like a steal at that price if it accepts standard parts..

It's already for sale in Europe (or at least Germany). I haven't been able to find any information on a US retailer offering them, I'm expecting to see the same thing over here offered under the Mayflash name at some point though.

It will be interesting to see what kind of PCB differences there are between the original Mayflash MF002 and the Venom PS4 and 8bitdo FC30. All are identical, near as I can tell, and it wouldn't surprise if all have a common PCB with solder jumpers to enable/disable features.

    Mayflash v2 is Xbox 360 and PS3
    the Venom stick is PS3/PS4.
The bitdo is a bluetooth stick and does not use USB

This would be my first choice for a PS4 stick if it came stateside in some form.
Really don't like the V3esque bodies Hori is continuing to use and the TE2 is more than I'm looking to spend on a stick again.

I agree, it will use knock off parts like the Mayflash 2 stick.
hopefully you could upgrade to authentic parts.

Given the atrocious USD to CAD conversion these days, it might actually be the best value for a PS4 stick to get this one shipped to Canada from Germany. It helps that i have a few jlf's laying around (that is, if the pcb offers the same connections as the Mayflash V2) .

I honestly just want to spend less than 200$ CAD for a PS4 stick, and this really seems to be the only option.

Amimai is selling the Hori RAP V for $110 USD, that's about $140 CAD, shipping should be $20-30 I'm guessing but you could be hit with customs/duties/tax/brokerage or whatever the post likes to tickle your wallet with

Yes, but you will need to either splice in a joystick harness or get the correct JST cable.

Thanks for the reply, man ;) I can easly modify the cable to put in the sanwa's stick. I have another question: is the venom PCB common ground?

Apparently so. I think it was @Gummo who confirmed this but there was a slight quirk to it.

    Wasn't that the 360/ps3 v2? This is a ps4/ps3 model.

I just noticed they used a dust cover that goes over a shaft cover, rather than one made for a bare shaft *snicker* which means there is a huge gap for dust to get in. What a bunch of competent fellows!

Not a huge deal, as it can be fixed pretty easily, but it's kind of hard to see why that made it out of the factory

@Moonchile, thats not correct, they used a "normal" shaft and dust cover, like the JLF. btw the stick looks really nice, very well done for a medium range arcade stick, it feels like the Madcatz SE but with a bigger case and better parts.

If you look here, same image as in the first post.

The Dust Washer is TOO BIG. That Dust washer is sized for a shaft cover, not bare shaft.

It looks like the AU EBgames has them for $199 AUD. ($155USD)

Getting mine on tomorrow. I'll post my impressions as well. I want to see if its compatible with jlf accessories out of the box like the gate as mentioned above but also the kowal actuator.

Given that the gate looks like the hayabusa's gate, you may have to round off the top of the larger cylinder. If you feel it snagging, try that.

hey guys just to check obsf30 are the right size buttons for this stick right?

Also someone mentioned needing a jst cable for the stick can some confirm what cable I need (a link to one would be great) and that does the jlf stick just fit on the mount already there?

Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance for any help :)

    1. Yes

    2. I'll have to dig out up after work, it's somewhere in the mayflash v2 thread.

If it was not clear before I will cover it now

The 8 front main 30mm buttons can be replaced easily by any Japanese style 30mm arcade buttons to include Sanwa OBSF 30 buttons.
The mount was intended for a JLF with the stock JLF-P1 Mounting Plate.

As for the JST harness? There no easy drop in cable that take over the existing Joystick wiring.
Assuming the Venom's board is common ground (or at least common ground for the joystick) you would need to spice in a Sanwa JLF-H harness or a Seimitsu HP-5 harness (they are the same thing, different brands)

if the joystick wiring is not common ground, you need individually tabbed micro switches on the joystick. For Seimitsu joysticks, these are joysticks without the -01 at the end of the part number
For the JLF you would have to replace the switches with individually tabbed switches or cut the traces on the Sanwa TP-MA PCB Assembly and solder the wires directly to the switches.

    Here's a 5 pack of the cable for a jlf. http://m.ebay.com/itm/311071176692?_mwBanner=1&_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649
Personally, I'd splice in as suggested above.

thanks very much for getting back to me :)

it's a shame there is no way to avoid wire splitting. I'm not going to lie that seems a little daunting lol the stick as stock is ok but after using the jlf/obsf set up (badly) it just feels a little weak...
  • PresidentCamachoPresidentCamacho Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho Joined: Posts: 3,418
I can't tell for certain, but based on the pcb picture sequo posted uou can use the value I linked to to avoid wire splicing. I think there's a 5 pin jst slot right beside the white ribbon cable. Open it up and take a clearer picture of the pcb and a can tell you.

SO, i got mine in the mail today from germany, 140 CAD including shipping and taxes. Everything seems to work well, but there is a slight scratch on the plexi. Oh well.

My impressions of the case are very positive, good weight, really nice magnetic front plexi which makes changing art a breeze and its size is quite respectable.

As for the buttons, imo they are terrible the combination of travel distance and resistance makes them fairly unenjoyable. I'd recommend changing them asap.

The stick itself, feels like a JLF but the activation seemed closer to that of a ls-58. The throw feels the same. I confirm that the gates are interchangable. Here is a pic of the venom stick with an old jlf octo gate just to confirm.
    4RtQmW6.jpg

Overall pretty happy. I really recommend this to people who want to perhaps upgrade non standard (jlf/obsf) button/stick configurations that are going to buy parts for a stick anyway. Seems like a great case to do simple art, button and stick mods too. I personnally can't wait to throw a LS-32 and some obsf in there.

I forgot to check if the pcb was common ground, so I check it today and yes, common ground! great pcb for dual(triple) mod :)

edit- the pcb is labeled with both symbols of sony and microsoft, as if it were compatible with both. strange, no? maybe the same pcb of the mayflash V2 but with different chips?

Probably. Quite a few companies do it like this to save on production costs.
