I have been waiting for a new VLX for awhile. Who is preordering one? I am tempted although I already have a VLX diamond. The only downside is it comes with shitty Kuro buttons.

What are your guys thoughts?

I would buy one to keep as a collectors item.

Id be too paranoid to play on it.

Blahh....I just ordered a te2 and hori v4 kai so....ill have to pass even though I'm super tempted.

I preordered two.. not sure if I really even want them though, will probably end up cancelling at least one of them.

If this was up vlx diamond quality I would be all over it though.

Man, I was on the fence..I got 2 of the xbox 360 VLXes then I bought the VLX kitty x 2 so now they work on PS3 and xbox 360. Now 299 will buy me one that works on the PS4. I just can't bring myself to doing this. Ok So I have a RAP 4 Kai on Amazon pre-ordered. I got a $50 gift card that I am applying toward it so its like $100. Its really taken all of my will power to say no the PS4 VLX purchase. Anyway, I will be modding my old VLX with an FC4 for PS4. I bought a 30pin ribbon cable with IDC socket to swap out the button/joystick harness to switch between PS4 and my VLX Kitty board. Those with the old VLX, I would say mod it like I did so you can just put everything back if you need to sell it one day. Those that don't have one should get it. It is super durable and does not move and will last. Also buy a good bag if you are traveling with it. Should I even bother with the RAP 4 Kai? is it worth it?

I've spent the last few months muttering quietly to the starry skies, "Why won't Hori just release a PS4 VLX?" while debating which sticks to get. Then this happened. Money was thrown at ArcadeShock and 0 regrets to be had; well, other than considering selling my other PS4 sticks. I've used the red and the diamond as my main sticks in the past, so the collector value of my Kuro VLX will likely be ruined by me, ya know, actually using it. Granted, my others are still in pristine condition.

Didn't even know this existed until I received the email from Hori a couple hours ago. My only complaint is no stability board's included. Does anyone know if orders from Hori USA will ship with the retail box & no outer shipping box just as the original VLX did? If so then the extra $10 at Arcadeshock's well worth it if you're a collector. About to email Hori now but they often take forever to respond back. If I get one then I'm torn if I should sell the VLX Diamond or not. Don't really need it since one VLX is enough but I love the VLX design in general!

I definitely love the idea of a genuine Vewlix panel in stick form. Sort of like the Astro City Sega Saturn sticks.
Aren't the VLX kinda prohibitive to carry around / use on-lap?

I've handled a Vewlix control panel off of its mounting and it certainly doesn't seem practical to carry around regularly.
I suppose there's the added weight of the glass, but the majority of it should still be metal unlike Astro/Egret3/etc.

Seems ideal for stationary home placement or the occasional special event, though.

Arcade Shock was the one who pushed for it, which should explain why it's only the US and Japan that are getting it (US because, duh and Japan because that's where they're coming from).
You can't ask for well-thought-out changes off day 1, week 1, or mostly even month 1 play...and that's when the game is out and everyone's in the lab.

Do you have any friends in the US that could proxy it for you?
The only downside will be paying US to EU shipping (and maybe some sort of import tax? I'm not entirely sure how that works for you guys).

Arcadeshock does ship internationally, but of course it's not free shipping and you'll most likely pay customs/duties/taxes whatever

I've never had a problem using either of my VLXes in my lap without the lap board ( in fact, the lap board made it awkward for me ). Carrying it around in hand is kind of tough, but I carried it around most of Evo '14 in the Hori travel bag with little fatigue.

It seems like Splitframe's bigstick bag ( splitframe.net/collections/bags/products/fs-transporter-xl-fight-stick-bag ) may be more ideal than Hori's own hard-to-find offering though, on basis that it has a shoulder strap ( and backpack straps, but I'm less exited about that). Seriously, who makes a bag for an almost 20 pound stick without a shoulder strap?

Speaking of Splitframe, though, I noticed a comment on ArcadeShock's Facebook about 10% off that XL bag from them, but I can't seem to find any mention of it now...

hopefully mine wont come with these dimples. they were pretty common and such a shame because you can't check for them until you open it. once you do you're stuck with it. i still have a diamond that is sealed and it looks worse on the brushed aluminum.

The side panels and the back portion are plastic, but the rest is metal. On the VLX-Diamond, the control panel was brushed aluminum and the underside was powder coated white. On the original red VLX, the bottom and the control panel were both powder coated black and some people had a problem with the power coating coming off. I assume the Kuro VLX will also be black on black powder coated metal.

It's actually 12-pounds but I can't imagine carrying it around. IMHO, it's more of a stationary stick due to the size & weight. I'm more of a table top player & when I use the VLX Diamond in the man cave, it's on top of a cushioned storage ottoman so the stability board helps. Although I can see where you're coming from if you're a lap player.

BTW, if you buy this stick from Arcadeshock then the bag's 20% off. It's listed on the product page in the accessories section right above the pre-order bonus section.

It's black because it's supposed to look like a Vewlix L. This completes the series with the Red looking like the original Vewlix, the Diamond looking like the Vewlix Diamond and the new one looking like the Vewlix L, which interestingly enough is also available with the Hayabusa lever and Kuro buttons.

Hell even I took the plunge.
I missed out on my chances on the last 2 VLX sticks, the OG and Diamond Blue.
Although this one has kuro buttons, it does not mean I can't still swap parts afterwards.

It looks like this time that part could be plastic instead of metal. I am not sure has i never had a VLX before.
