Idk but I abuse the hell out of St.lk and it works, so that sounds about right. St.lk and St.lp are his best get off me normals, just let them jab you until they're out of range and then you can start your game.

Also, canceling the first hit of EX Headbutt into VT seems like a pretty good/safe way to activate it, and I'm not sure but you may be able to link out of it on hit. Back to the lab I go....

    https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/3ii3zz/sfv_birdies_bull_horn_hold_button_can_be_done/

according to this, the latest offline version of SF5 beta, birdie can store up bull horn by holding kicks also. He could do this in the Alpha series too, although he always had to hold 2 buttons. This is great because I've been holding down HP for all my bull horn charges. HP is a good button for normals, but I think LP/MP has more usage. Now I'll be able to hold down something like MK, I don't really use that one all too often compared to the other buttons. Maybe LK will be a good button to charge for bull horn.

Sounds like he wasn't too sure about the EX version though. I'm not sure what to think about it...having to hold down LP+LK, MP+MK, or HP+HK for the EX version. I think I would rather have the EX version of bull horn be hold down any 2 punches or any 2 kicks. Or maybe any 1 punch+any 1 kick. It's hard to say without actually being able to test it. I would imagine most people would hold down HP+HK if it's any 2 of same strength. Throw tech and Vskill are too important.

if the kick thing is true that's a really good buff for him i barely use it now because his punches are all really good.

his cr mk i like it catches alot of people off guard but most of the time i'm just using the punches...so every once in a while using losing hk for a some anti air action i think is a little worth it.

More ways to do bullhorn is definitely a plus. If you hit a jumping opponent with bullhorn from high enough you can easily juggle w/ critical art, don't even need a corner.

did two matches with birdie.. first one was an L.. I was just really pushing buttons against a bison.. then I played cammy.. just stood back and built meter, he drill in to a banana or a can everytime... controlled space with st lk then went into pepper mode and went hard with the armor. didn't try to do anything but give myself space until I built meter then rushed in with V trigger... liking Birdie alot

edit* just did two more.. lost to a nash.. couldn't keep him off me, had decent spacing with and kept me honest running behind his boom.. played a laggy bison... had to use lp lp cr mk to keep him off.. finished him off with a CA.. I'm loving Birdie

I'm not sure if anyone knows this yet, but birdie can Vtrigger cancel his EX bull head(hcf+pp). It let's you do combos like this...

    j.hk > s.mp > EX bull head > VTtrigger cancel > s.mp > EX bull head(or chain grab)

Birdie is very interesting. He's like a hybrid son of T.hawk and dhalsim's playstyle. I'm finding it difficult to keep other players at bay with his long normals and command HP with armor, as a lot of moves stuff his own pokes even though they have long range. Last night I played against 3 chun players who stuffed all of my normal simply using C.HP, incuding command HP as the startup for it's armor is too long. Someone have good ideas on how to better control space with him during footsies?

Damn, must of missed your post. My bad! Is lk also working as a punish after sonic scythe or bisons lk sk? I keep trading with both at best as they tend to mash c.lp right after, which makes it hard to keep them off. Ocassionally I get a good jab punish into CA but that seems to be the case if they mistime their own jabs.

Oh and while I'm on it, what exactly is there to his v-trigger? I know bull horn and rush get armor and extra damage, but is that it or are there any more subtleties to it? I mostly use his V-trigger to corner people as they tend to just run away and corner themselves....it's a like a mind game to just activate the damn thing. Other than that I'm sad to say I haven't had much luck landing the aformentioned moves on anyone during trigger, I just poke to death.

Bull horn also covers a larger distance both horizontally and vertically.

Also I know Peter said they were going to remove the kara throws but Birdie's D+HP kara is still in the beta. Gives a nice bit of extra distance to the throw.

Same... Only character I have more losses the wins against ( the one mirror with doesn't count) can get over the sonic booms cleanly with the command throw.. His normals and pretty good, I was only able to keep Nash off temporarily. He just kept jumping back in.

I do poorly against nash and chun li. Nash almost seems like the hard counter for birdie, able to dictate the pace of the game from the get go with long range faster normals, zoning and target combo pressure. Chun li seems the same way.

Yea but you have to do it super earlysince the bulk of the momentum is once he's already on the ground.

this is brilliant i've been messing with it in training mode. you can also go straight into the second ex bull head without the st.mp. you can also do st.mp into regular bull head too (light and medium versions).

i think birdie is actually a surprisingly good character. i still need to figure out some setups but overall he's a lot of fun to use.

Some of his options are odd like you can't special cancel d lp but you can v trigger cancel d lp so you can f hp d lp v trigger, the only immediate follow ups are df hp or hp or you can hcb lk. You can also take a short step forward and hcb lp.

I can't check this since I'm out of town: can you juggle off of his V-trigger activation when it anti-airs?

Not sure, the beta build is still the E3 build where the activation juggle isn't possible. I think in the Combofiend R mika video I remember Mike saying "this is new" but didn't try and follow it up or anything

Alright, I need to know this because it's driving me nuts. Dont mean to repeat myself, but how on earth do you punish sonic scythe? I've tried everything possible so far, and I just had a match in which the nash player caught on and cornered me and did c. jab x2 followed by scythe. During scythe startup, I haven't figured out any normals that can punish it(if even possible), and i've mashed both standing and crounching lp/lk after the animation is done but I get stuff by nash's own jab every single time. I highly doubt this is literally unpunishable but my experience with it so far is that it's practically inescapable. Thoughts?

Cr.MP/St.mp beat its startup, You can try to punish on block with command grab but I'm not sure if that's a true punish. I've been playing a lot of Ryu lately, so I just dp or parry into dp them for their troubles, but birdies best bet is probably to just stuff the startup.

Alright, I guess ill try standing mp; maybe after 1 jab it's in reach to be punished but so far when i've tried c. mp after a 2 crouching lp blockstring, it's out of reach or is beat out, although i've traded a few times.

Okay, I actually thought it was new but wasn't sure. I only saw it in one of gooteck's videos and it seemed like whoever did it didn't do it by accident so maybe it already existed.

I guess the question now is will it get in the way of these potential V-trigger combos or improve them?

Damn, I've only faced of against solid Chuns, Ryu's and Nash's. I want to fight against a Birdie that actually knows how to play dammit. I went undefeated with Birdie yesterday before I started fucking around, I don't think he's enough of a healer to fall into "grappler syndrome". I think he's a legit good character, and his normals and zoning are underrated.

I've only been beaten by one other birdie player during a mad rollback lag session. Otherwise, i've played against a couple of decent ones, but birdie mirrors are very lolworthy. It's mid range poke festa for the entire duration the match. I also can't help but think that when your'e both just shoveling down a million doughnuts in your respective corner, both players are probably chuckling the whole time.

i tried playing yesterday but i was so out of it....i really like the v trigger cancel from ex headbutt . The only complaint i have is i wish eating was just like a little faster...also in the new build it looks like bridy might move faster in v trigger. I could be my eyes playing tricks on me though.

I noticed that too (moving faster) but it also could be due to the game just getting an overall boost in speed. Combofiend said they boosted that up.

Crouching middle punch, it's one of the best anti airs in the game atm, if not the best. However the whole idea is to never let them successfully jump in. Getting character off of you with birdie is not easy, the idea is to not let them get to you to begin with. It's the defensive ryus you should worry about. The ones that wait for you to make a move; that's a lot tricker.

st.HP for far range or when you feel they will empty jump, cr.MP for when they are jumping close and for crossups, His charge Punch move for damage, and if it trades you can combo into CA.
