I have a controller I made for PS3 rhythm games (Project Diva). I bought a PS3 -> PS4 brook adapter hoping I would be able to use it on the PS4 versions of the game. The controller works as a generic HID joystick, and works on the PS3. When I connect it through the converter however, it doesn't send any inputs. Is there anything specific the converter is looking for the controller to send? Or a specific report it should respond to?

If I have to I can spoof an entire DS3 in the controller firmware, but that's a lot more work if I could just do something simple to get it recognized.

    @HalfCent
White Converter(P3 to P4) only worked on PS4 not PS3, if you want to play on both of PS3 and PS4, please purchase Yellow converter (PS3/PS4 to PS3/PS4).

I know, I'm trying to use it with a PS4 console (and testing with PC). If I plug in a standard Dualshock 3 -> converter -> PC (or PS4), everything works. If I plug in PS3 Rhythm Controller -> converter -> PC (or PS4), it does not.

I have control of the PS3 Rhythm Controller's firmware, so I can change anything I need to on that side. I just need to know what exactly the brook converter detects / listens for on the controller side so I know how to change my PS3 Rhythm Controller's firmware.

Please give more information about PS3 Rhythm Controller, like what's the brand name/module number and pictures.

We will find it to look, please help me to confirm it. Do you see the menu screen on PS3 when you pressed PS Key?

No, it's made and coded by me. I can still give you pictures if you want, but it's just a wood box with buttons. I am able to use the Home button on a PS3.

I'm sure it's one of the features of USB I'm using, I was just hoping for a little guidance before I started randomly removing them to figure out what's breaking it. The ones I could think of immediately are:

    - The controller has a bootloader that runs over USB for about 2 seconds before resetting the USB port on the controller and presenting as an HID device.

    - The controller presents itself as a composite HID device, with one endoint being the Gamepad and another being a serial communication endpoint for programming the keymap of the controller.

    - I use my own VID / PID, so if the brook adapter does detection based on that I wouldn't be in any list you have

The actual PS3 doesn't have any issues with this, but I could see how a converter would.

I'll have some time to mess around with it tomorrow, and I'll start removing features until I figure out what's causing the incompatibility. If any of what I'm doing stands out as a clear problem, or if you have a list of the requirements that the brook adapter needs to be compatible, it would be great to know. If not, I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually!

    Hi,
I have a Atrox-Xboxone stick, in order to made it work on my PC I installed custom drivers (from major nelson) and then re-wired two buttons. But I still have only 6 buttons working due to driver limitations.

I was thinking about use one of these super converters in order to convert my stick into a PS4 one (the pink or lime I guess)

Will it work on PC ?

Tried to update the firmware on my 360->PS4 converter, going to version V16_20160408 worked fine, but getting errors trying to go to V20_201607, I have the logs if they help, the error codes have always been associated with WriteB Failure(s). Same issue for installing both regular and TE firmware in 2 different USB ports (there was no issue regarding USB port in the older FW revision). Somebody told me this place is pretty active and that I'd get a pretty good chance of getting a response if I swung by here.

If your stick/controller worked well with converter before, please don't enable compatibility controller updated.

Its a new converter, I did these updates out of the box so I actually don't know for sure whether it worked before. I thought the compatability controller option had to do with the timeout thing, thats what the instructions made it sound like

You ran 201604 with your stick/controller.
So that converter can work well with it.

If you still wanted to test again, please use other USB ports or change on PC/Mac.

Don't I need the updated firmware (2016_07) to deal with the 8 minute timeout issue?
I had tried other USB ports already. I just tried it without the compatability option checked and it worked, so I guess if that also gets rid of the 8min timeout then I'm ok.

Got a PS3 to PS4 converter today, don't understand how to update it. There's 2 things I can download on the site that are updates, but I don't know what the difference is. I downloaded the tournament one, tried to run the update, and I keep getting "the program is not responding". What am I supposed to do?

...ok, I didn't even notice the other folder had an executable file in it. So, in order to update, I need to have a controller with a working L3 button? [edit] or so I thought! But apparently you can hold left on the stick and that works too. problem solved

ALright, Zippy set me straight. I was on the old firmware. like I thought, but apparently you can hold the stick left rather than pressing L3 and it works just the same. Not exactly an obvious detail, but w/e, I just played the KoF demo for like 15 minutes without any timeouts so it seems like it's all good. :)

Sorry probably I didn't explain well the request.

I just noticed that when you use ps3/4 controller with your many converters, you can use it also detaching the cable.

So I hoped that with new Xone controller it could be possible to use it too wirelessly.

Brook converters support Bluetooth wireless connection.
Xbox controllers are wifi wireless connection.

Thanks for your suggestion, we will evaluate the possibility in the future.

I just downloaded and applied the latest tournament ps3-ps4 (white) adapter update from here, and my adapter color when plugged in changed from purple (red+blue) to just blue. Did I maybe download the wrong link? This is what I clicked:

    IElIjv4.png

I wasn't sure what version my adapter was at, so I did apply the 20160408 update, and then the 201607 one. The adapter works, but I'm worried a local tournament I'm going to this weekend will not accept my adapter if it's not in tournament mode.

Yes, please download it and only run 201607.

I don't know if this has been covered before or if anyone else has a similar problem, but for some reason, my 360-->PS4 converter no longer seems to work. When I plug the converter into my PS4 or PC, the light comes on, but when I plug my TE stick into the converter, it no longer activates (the 360 button doesn't light up) I tried updating the firmware as well, but I can't do that either (probably because the controller isn't being detected) Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to be able to use my TE stick with KOF 14.

Please double check usb cable on your TE stick.

The TE stick works like normal if I plug it into my PC without the converter. Also I tried plugging a different controller into the converter (a Madcatz fightpad) and that one wasn't detected either.
