    Game looks like a carbon copy of maximum impact, even the same crap animation, and i loved maximum impact regulation A but even back then the game looked like shit.

    I f*cking hated sprites. Sprites are so 90s man, don't nobody wanna see'em in 2016..
    Heck, they didn't even evolve'em into 3D models like SF.
    You might say i'm biased 'cause i'm mainly a 3D fighter, but certain things can evolve from one game to another without changing the origin of the gameplay, like character models.

    I would've enjoyed KOF 13 way more if they ATLEAST had 3D models.

    So you're actually saying with a straight face you prefer bad 3D models to great 2D ones?

    I'm fine with preferring 3D to 2D but have some goddamn standards on the 3D at least.

    The sprites in KOF 13 were anything BUT great. They were straight out trash. That's why i only played that game for like a week.

    And i never said that the current models shown in that teaser are great ones, do not take my words out of context.
    They're definitely going to improve on them seeing the uproar, stop being a judgmental prick from the first fucking teaser that is about 5 SECONDS LONG...
    Look at SFIV or SFV for great 3D model examples.

    KOF13 looks horrible. Purple fireworks everywhere. KOF14 doesn't look too good so far either, but we'll have to see some real gameplay footage first.

    Also, remember how horrible the SFIV models were when SFIV was first announced? They improved them before the release.
    And the same thing is happening currently with SFV. It's too early to judge an entire game after receiving a single teaser that is seconds long.

    And they STILL suck. Capcom improved lightyears for SFV but SFIV was terrible when it came to models, as was SFxT. SFV is the first 3D modeled SF game that doesn't have terrible models.

    Only so much you can salvage from a terrible base. Even in the pre-alpha SFV stuff there was solid stuff from the modeling, there were just many subtle tweaks that needed to be made. This needs a COMPLETE overhaul and yeah, 5 seconds is enough to tell because we aren't harping on the animations, we're harping on the models themselves. Kyo doesn't even look like Kyo.

    There is no excuse. I don't care how much one could love 3D, this is terrible and there's very little hope for legitimate improvement visual wise.

    And KoF has enough issues when it comes to crap like Netcode, the last thing they need is something to drive away the normal market as well.

    MI didn't have an arcade release until Regulation A, IIRC.

    It wouldn't be the first and it's no surprise. Sony definitely seems hellbent on making the PS4 THE Fighting Game console and threw some money at SNK to help them out in return for more exclusivity.

    Helping Capcom out provides more benefits than helping SNK out. They probably gave SNK the bare minimum to essentially stay afloat. Like "Hey, here's enough so you don't have to go solely with Pachinko, go push out a game for us please" whereas they're trying to make their stamp with Capcom while also likely getting some benefits with their other franchises.

    I dont know how long it takes to make a new character or if its economically viable.. but I would rather they stuck with the KOV XIII graphics, and added maybe 8-10 new characters. Either add 1 new character to each team so there are 4 in a team, similar to KOF 2000 (but without the striker system) or just have 3 new teams. There are still alot of characters I would have liked to seen in that art style such as Blue Mary, Yamazaki, B.Jenet, Rock and some of the other "classic" characters.

    They could also just refine the system or maybe just go back to '98 and Extra. Im sure it wont effect sales significantly as the majority of the people who buy KOF games are die hard KOF and fighting game fans anyway.

    If the 3D is designed to attract new fans, sadly it will fail (especially with it looking as shit as it is at the moment).

    So in summary, just add new characters and refine the system and that will all thats needed.

    I don't understand why they go 2.5D when it looks both worse than their competitors as well as their 2D titles.

    While the particle effects are kind of shitty, they did a pretty good job of turning the 2D sprites into 3D models. Honestly, if KOF14 looked like that video, I'd probably be at least somewhat hyped. Instead we get this ugly shit. : \

    Because they were suicide to keep using. It took 7 months to make 1 character and that character in almost every case ended up missing normals/specials/command normals and not having a real back throw. Time is money, and they couldn't afford to keep that track record going, they needed to do something to make the workflow go faster so you can spend less time making unfinished sprites and more time actually adding content.

    The thing is no matter what they did it was going to be a waste financially. If they stuck with 12/13 sprites all new assets they made would be extremely expensive and take tons of time to make and basically they would be stuck in this rut that people applaud them for because no one is doing sprites anymore even though there's a damn good reason for it. Making a new game from scratch is also going to cost a ton of money sure, but at least this way they are prepared for things to come in the future. What they're doing is never going to get applause because people for whatever reason just think that SNK would never stop making sprites, which is like the dumbest shit ever, but this was a decision made in the best interest of SNK and to keep them going.

    This brings back memories of playing KOF 2000 (it had Vanessa) and its still my favorite KOF game. Hope SNK delivers some cool characters this time.

    I don't think it's that bad, but everyone else says it is so it doesn't matter what I think. Besides Kyo's hairstyle, I think it looks fine. Not great, not amazing, but fine. The faces could use some work, but they could fix that further in development, just like SF4 did, just like SF5 did, just like T7 did. As is now though, I'm totally fine with how it looks. The Kyo model on the website looks plenty good enough to me.

    It almost doesn't look THAT BAD when zoomed out further like in the 1st shot. Actually looks closer to Xuandou Zhiwang.

    But what worries me is the character positioning makes me think this will not be played on a fixed 2D plane.

    Well SNK isnt as strong a company as capcom so their finances arent as well of for developing. I hear when making kof13 they were damn their slave drivers to their employees. That being said I want to try and be optimistic. I mean XII was ass but damn XIII was one of my favorite games. Hopefully a rep or something will come forward and give us more information before the internet explodes

    The thing is, in the teaser when they showed Iori's super, the animation and hit effects, hitstop, "powerful" factor are all missing. It needs A LOT of work if they want to break 100k sales. If the budget is super low, and they can manage 75k-100k, it may be considered a success, but it surely needs a lot of polish.
