    That geese in that video above is really strong, kofxiv is becoming more and more fun to watch at high level.

    I gotta say ever since I've been playing KOF98 I really feel like the kof mechanics are like second nature. its a bit odd going back to other games and feeling how limited the mechanics feel in comparison. It just annoys me that I can't properly play kofxiv on the PS4 pad cause the game looks really fun.

    So many options kinda makes it hard to play the game against other people. Not in the execution sense, but by the fact that there are so many gimmicks. You fight a player that crumbles under pressure but then you lose because you didnt know how to counter Takuma fireballs since they cant be hopped over and rolling nets him a free running grab. But then you sorta figure out a solution and take a character but OH WAIT, Kyo's reverse dp R.E.D kick is plus. It kinda becomes (for me at least ) a cycle of finding something that doesnt quite make sense (Why does Daimon's raw df C hit so horizontally if landing it anti air nets him 30%) and getting destroyed by it and wondering why because just a match ago you were doing fine against someone better than this. Then again, what do I know. Im a noob.

    How do the DLC work? Is there an in-game shop for that? There doesn't seem to be a standalone DLC pack on Steam in case you want to upgrade.

    Yes. You go to the in-game shop, select an item, select "Buy on PlayStation Store", and the game brings up the DLC listing in the store itself (since it's basically baked into PS4's OS). The way Capcom did it, however, is you can't find SFV specific DLC outside the game, they're only accessible through the Shop. Only exclusions to this being the Season/Character Passes and the Story DLC

    PC version is going to have next to no playerbase with the price this way. Too many other fighting games that offer more.

    40 for base, and 55 for deluxe would have been much smarter pricing. Nobody is going to bite at the current non-discounted price especially with the summer sale two weeks after it's release.

    Tekken 7 is $49.99 coming out simultaneously on the platform at a discounted price anyways.

    KoFXIV is $59.99 for the base game if you buy the game without pre order. 60 dollars for a game that is a year old and may struggle to retain a player base.

    Yes, it started today. You can prepurchase the game, play it until right before release and then refund it if you want.

    The game's at same price as UMvC3 on Steam, I think the amounts of content are similar between those two games. I think I'll buy both.

    Look at Kyo's hair and Iori's chain. They look even worse in motion.
    There is an anti-aliasing option in the settings and it's turned on here, so I don't know what's going on.

    In Mexico and Brazil its $25. This is good as customers there will actually play the game as they do with other KOF titles. Its most likely a good price in China also but i'll have to look into it. Sucks for the more expensive price fellas(UK and USA), if you're truly interested in KOF XIV i'd suggest waiting for a price drop.

    Apparently the input frame on the PC version is much better than on PS4, as well as the netplay being a bit better. KOFXIV already rocking 5.5 frames and its more responsive on PC. Once they fix the bugs that's in the beta this version will be great. And this isn't counting the mods and all that geeky shit.

    I'm gonna have to buy this and Crash in the same month. Don't need to beta test cause I play this game religiously on PS4.

    If you guys want to play certain characters that require a bit more execution than usual, KOFXIV on PC will end up being beneficial, based on these kind of reports and what others are saying on the forum through the tests. You have that, plus the button holding trick of capitalizing on some harder combos or set-ups.

    It does look better. No one said it would look that good. SNK doesn't have much to work with and we've long since accepted it.

    Lulz, the game's price on the brazilian steam is actually very high. R$ 120,00 for the standard edition (accounting the 20% discount) and R$ 160,00 (accounting the 20% discount) for the deluxe edition.

    Just for comparision sake, GG Xrd Revelator standard edition is R$91,00 (full price) and deluxe edition is R$ 115,00 (full price). And I already considered GG's price high enough.

    Normal edition: 479.99 (from 599.99 normal price) = 25.25 usd
    Delux pack: 559.99 (from 699.99 normal price) = 29.50 usd
    For once, I'm glad to live in Mx, now I only need to get a good cheap arcade stick, thinking of going with a mayflash f300 for now and after a month or so, buy a sanwa stick with a bat top and after another month buy sanwa buttons to replace all.
    Seems as a good plan for someone with a tight budget atm?

    One bad thing doesn't make the entire game bad. Saying that KOFXIV models in general are better than SFV ones is being delusional, as well as saying that SFV graphics are more polished than Xrd, I2 or T7 ones. And this doesn't mean that KOFXIV is a bad game either, it just hurts how they sank it by using outdated graphics.
    Sorry if I made you butthurt though.

    I was running through the trials (luckily they're few and pretty easy in general) and I ended up spending like an hour in training to explore Angel's combo and mixup routes. She seems kinda fun, although I still have to find a way to do solid damage with her. I went through half the cast and Angel and Benimaru are the ones that interest me the most for now.

    P.S. also on a good note, the guys doing the port seem pretty committed in making a good job. It's been out for a couple hours only and the game is already receiving patches on a constant basis.

    I watched a couple online videos and I believe the AA on PC is the same as on console. I'm sorry for the guys that had to suffer this for an entire year (and it was even worse before). This genuinely looks worse than UMvC3 which is 6 years old.

    That... thing is arguably far worse than anything SNK has done with KOFXIV up to this point after it's release. And, SFV is not the only game with graphical and/or animation problems either.

    Calling you out =/= Being "butthurt" (A lot of people have a weird ass fascination with that terminology for some reason). KOFXIV looked rough as hell before its release but if people are saying that it looks a lot better at point than on streams/youtube videos, there is a very good reason behind it. Plus, these opinions and the arguments that follow from them aren't necessarily new either.

    You're playing Angel. Unfortunately, my experience with Angel is limited but the following video may give an idea what to do when you get some meter.     I believed the people who said it looks better now, and indeed when you compare with older screenshots it has improved a lot. I simply wasn't expecting to see Kyo's hair look like a pixelated mess on 1080p and I thought there was an issue with the beta version before looking at high res PS4 videos and seeing it's exactly the same.

    Thanks for the Angel video btw. Is Mai hard execution wise? I think I could use a 2nd waifu.
    Thank god the execution in general seems much easier than in KOF13. I feel they streamlined a lot of things.

    You know, I've been playing the Japanese and early English (I think Singapore?) release of this game for the past 10 months in anticipation for the US release but now that it's here...     • These extra characters are obtained through using diamonds in a specific gacha, which gives you points. The top 30 people with the most points will either get fragments of the character or get the character themself. Unless you are rich do not try for this.
    • After a certain period of time the bar (gacha corner) will give everyone who failed to get top 30 a chance to get those characters again. This time purely by chance, spend 400 diamonds per gacha pull, every 5 gacha pulls gives you one of 4 characteres that are specified for that gacha, with the premium character being a less than 2% chance.
    • There are at least 4 times during the day where they give you 60 free SP, which last 2 hours before they disappear. Take advantage of it because free users only get 2 SP recharges per day.
    • Once you have access to the elite campaign you'll want to try to get as far as you can so you can get character fragments for Blue Mary, Robert, Iori, and Leona. These are the best normal characters in the game, in both versions I'm playing you will find these characters even among the highest ranked players.
    • Get Orochi Chris (trading in boxes you win from the daily King of Fighters mode) and Orochi Shermie (through one of the shops, using club coins).
    I think that's all the important stuff, but if anybody has anymore questions about the game let me know.

    Mai is relatively easy to play and is outright better than her XIII counterpart (there are a number of reasons why but it is a rather long story). She also has a actual anti-air reversal (that which requires meter). Her normals are exceptionally good in this game as well. For anti-airs, resort to hop A, hop C, far C, far D, close D, and (preemptive) st.B.

    214+A is a great combo ender from heavy normals because even if it is blocked, she is only "slightly" minus. This can also be used to negate some projectiles and generate some meter on your own if you are at a full screen distance. 214+C is a good combo ender from light normals (if you are really close). It is safe on block but... it is minus and it is essentially the opponent's "turn" to attack so to speak but if you have a secondary defensive motion, go for it if you see a hole in the opponent's own offense. Her jumping normals are very good to utilize for defensive and offensive measures (it is said that her jumping A is nerfed but... most individuals are still using it. Her jumping B is also a decent cross-up).
    Mai also has a few useful gimmicks to take advantage of if the opponent is not paying attention (or is not aware of the match up) with and without meter. She is also decent at punishing other characters with projectiles at certain range and winning projectile fights depending on what the opponent is trying to do. Do not hesitate to use st.B to keep opponent's at bay and put them in check.

    There is a lot more to Mai than what I am saying here but yes, she is relatively easy to play and a practical asset for those who intend on competing at a tournament. Warning: Mai has 900 health. But, try to not let this influence you too much, because people are still clearly winning tournaments with her even this factor in mind. This also applies to the others that have 900 health as well.

    At third position, you can also just straight up do 236236+A/C after the 41236+BD.
    You can't ask for well-thought-out changes off day 1, week 1, or mostly even month 1 play...and that's when the game is out and everyone's in the lab.
