    Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered.

So I have a Madcatz TES+ and I'm planning to install a Brook UFB. I'd like to utilize the control panel as much as possible.

I have worked out how to use the existing wiring harness for P & K buttons and joystick. PS, L3 and R3 easy enough. I also see where I can connect P1,P2,P3 & P4 LEDs.

However, I might have some trouble with the Touch pad and Light bar. With the touch pad its a ribbon and it looks like I might have to solder directly to the control panel PCB.

Not sure if I need the 'LS|DP|RS', 'Lock' and 'PS3|PS4' switches as well.

    Thanks,

    Sol

@Brook_Engineer thanks for the quick reply. I can see the points on the original PCB for the TPKEY, TPINT, TPRST, SCL and SDA. So soldering will need to happen for sure.

I was wondering if anyone had fully utilized the control board on a TES+ before. It would be nice to have the light-bar working and the mentioned switches if possible.

I have a TES+ EZ MOD coming out that allows everything to work including the correct colors for the LEDs on the bar based on the player #. In fact, the only reason its not out right now... I'm deployed.

    That's awesome!

Not sure if I can wait that long :) I'm keen to get started.

Do you have any technical specs? Circuit diagrams etc?

I don't share my technical data since its a product I intend to sell via my shop. That being said.... a creative modder can use the TE2+ EZ MOD with the TES+. I did it at EVO last year. While it took a hot minute.... it was perfectly functional when done.

Got my issue with this board resolved - it was either that something wasn't seated right in one of the connections (as I reinstalled) or (and embarrassingly) due to some foam that I had previously installed to dampen the sound that was shorting something somehow... I honestly didn't realise that foam is conductive... >.<

Good job it doesn't seem damaged though!

The Brook UFB does support Wii U natively without the use of a super converter.

Does anybody have any experience with this type of Universal Fighting Board.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/152152547987?ul_noapp=true

It seems to have a Breakout Board built in & it also comes with its own wires.

I want to mod my Madcatz MvC3 Fightstick to be able to play on XB1 & PS4 for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

    Thanks for your help

There is no wired controller for WiiU except the Pokken one and the Smash GC adapter. They should clarify that it works for Pokken though.

List it as PS4/PS3/360/XBONE/POKKEN (WiiU)/PC/Whatever else I missed.

Fun fact though: A ton of games support the Wii Classic Controller so you could always get a PiiWii in your stick and it'll work for a lot of games.

if UFB wanted to support Wii Classic Controller, Must to want an extra Bluetooth module.

Apologies if this was already covered elsewhere in this huge thread but I haven't come across it and didn't see a response to the poster who basically asked my question a year ago:
I have a really odd question that I couldn't for the life of me find an answer for.

The page for the board mentions that if you use the TPKey spot on the board (that has to be soldered) that it will work as touchpad/select/back/menu(the hamburger), but the share key lists as share/select/back/options(the 2 windows). I'm assuming this is a mistake and the TPKey is supposed to be touchpad/select/back/options(the 2 windows) as it emulates the buttons "properly" with the Xbox One layout. I'm going to be wiring it to use the latter since I have more need of the touchpad key than share, but want to make sure that's how it works.

The wiring diagram does seem to indicate that the TPkey will also function as select/back/menu on the respective systems but the button configuration chart doesn't give any indication of that. My other concern is that even if the TPKey will also function as the select button whether I would then have issues with firmware updates since the instructions list the share button. I never use share so if it's possible to wire the TPKey for select instead of having to have another button on the case that would be far more preferable to me.

It should not matter what button you wire for select or anything else really. You could have your tpkey as your HP :D . Be sure to document what you're wired for your future reference. The firmware updates only pertain to the board itself and not what's connected to it. Jump in and experiment I say.

I'm not sure what you mean. What I'm getting at is that the wiring diagram has a header for "select" on the J3 section of the board and a "TPKey" in J4 and on the diagram lists the functionality as the same for PS3/360/XB1 but on PS4 functioning as share and touch respectively. This also contradicts the button configuration diagram for TPkey functionality for non-PS4 systems:

    ufb_diagram.jpg

Having no use for share if TPKey functions as select on all other systems and touch on PS4 I would prefer to connect to the TPKey header and skip wiring a button to the select terminal. Even if it does function that way the problem I see is that in this thread and on the documentation it says when updating firmware you have to press and hold "PS and SHARE (or SELECT)" which sounds like the button connecting to the "select" terminal. If that's the case where I could potentially have to open and rewire things whenever there's a compatibility breaking firmware release I would probably prefer to address that up front as it will affect how many ancillary button holes I need in the case plus parts.

Please list the buttons on the stick that you intend to use other than the following.

    LP,MP,HP,3P
    LK,MP,HK,3K

My current plan with the system buttons on the side panels of the stick:

    button_layout.jpg

Though looking at it switching it from 3/2 to 2/3 and moving touch in between L3 and R3 might make for neater wiring.

Any plans or is it even possible for the Universal Brooks to work on the Nintendo Switch? Ultra SF2 is coming out, it would be a waste of money to just gut two arcade sticks for the pCBs.

Ok i think i get what you're trying to work out. So for upgrading only you want to use tpkey instead of select. Look, I'm not sure is that's possible. You might want to put the select button in anyway place it on the back for example.

Yeah I probably will just to be safe since it sounds like it's better for the plexi to not be putting that extra strain on it long term anyway.

It seems that even if I update to the latest firmware, my board still has my stick time out on me during games. Is there a permanent fix to this other than updating to the latest firmware?

They are asking what version of the firmware you installed.

I believe 1.8. AKA the latest one available in March. I am aware it needs to be updated again, but even when I update it, it still times out on me mid-game.

Outside of Brook saying they'd look into it we haven't heard of anything. They are likely waiting for a wired controller to come out so they can figure out what they need to talk to the switch. If Hori's arcade stick doesn't come out soon, they may just do what they did with the Wii U and release a converter that mimics the wireless pro controller (since there were no viable wired controllers released for the wii-u).

    I need some help.
I just built a stick with the board in it.
Works fine on PC (comes up as controller by default.)
Buttons seem to work Home Sel etc...

I'm trying to update the firmware on it and am having zero luck.

I downloaded the latest thing v 1.9 firmware. ANd heres a rundown of what I've tried / do and what happens.

    1. Unplug stick
    2. Run firmware exe
    3. Press PS & Share at same time
    4. Hold buttons and plug in stick
    5. Firmware screen flashes a second and bottom goes blank.
    6. Bottom returns back to instructions.

    I've tried restarting my computer.
    Tried different USB ports,
    Tried redownloading the exe file
I've tried various button combinations (lookd at manual first to make sure I had the right ones.)

I have tested the buttons they work in various fighting games and come up as appropriate buttons.
    Ideas?

What would the USB cable have to do with it? It works fine on its own.
I mean its worth a shot but i'd have to get another USB a to b cable...

Another question for hitbox ps4 ver.
I like to swap hitbox pcb (similar to ps4 ver) to Brook UFB. What method will require the least soldering? Can I purchase Arcadeshock's universal mode with headers? or one on ebay?

I've done a couple... you have to:

    1. Clip some wires at the stock Hitbox board (they are soldered in) for the buttons. And then strip the ends/screw into the UFB terminals.
    2. Clip the USB cable from the stock Hitbox board and solder them to the USB points on the UFB (J6-1 points).

If you get the AS Modding Made Easy setup (harness/pre-soldered brook) that will make it only slightly easier... but you will need to adapt the JLF connection to the buttons for the directionals. I don't think they sell that converter (yet). You will still have the USB cable issue that requires soldering. You could do a plug in USB cable and loose all strain relief/cable protection through the hole on the hitbox... but I DONT recommend that. Just solder the 4 points for the USB.

If you want a Touch Pad Click button... HIGHLY recommended... be prepared to sacrifice an aux button on front (not recommended) or to drill a hole in your hitbox for the additional button. Then be prepared to solder a wire to the GROUND point and TPCLICK point on the UFB.

    SIX solder points is easy.
