I could see the Disney service panning out if they put all the Disney properties up there for streaming in one giant package, especially for people with kids.

Really surprised that Netflix is doing a new Saint Seiya series, considering that it never became popular on USA compared to how huge is on Latin America and Latin Europe.

    What's considered Latin Europe?

Spain Italy France (I guess Portugal too?)

Countries that have languages coming off latin

I've just been going through all of the Marvel Netflix shows again (except for Iron Fist) in hype of Defenders releasing on Friday. Before that I quite enjoyed The Incredible Jessica James.

Ooh, just found out, Kilgrave is coming back for Jessica Jones season 2.

Yeah they are really getting carried away. Netflix is already pissing me off with their licensing of good anime and then making you wait six months to see it like they don't know what simulcasting is...

Licensing and agreements takes months, and writing up subtitles is a timely process. And there no time for dubs
In order Simulcast, you have to start whole the anime is still in production. Meaning you have to get involved with the production studio early on which is also risky if you are not a co-producer.

And with Netflix has so many of it's own projects that get a anime to do a Simulcast is difficult at best.

We're heading into a glut of streaming services anyway. All these separate ones trying to make us pay $10-15 for EACH. It's making it no different than having cable TV.
And the only ones worth considering are 100% free from commercial and advertisements (except how Netflix and everyone advertises its own content to its user through their home page)

Cable TV wants you to pay to watch content that has commercials. 15 minutes every hour.
It's simply the lesser of two evils.

If only sports didn't have "in market" blackouts. What a load of monopolistic jizz.

I'm still not convinced that HBO and Disney will make it on their own. They think they see a profit in it.
By allowing streaming services to resell their content, they will reach a larger and more diverse user base. That's how people invest in the stock market.

The guy who plays L in this Death Note series is awful. He doesn't really play the character right.

The dude who plays Kira is nearly as bad, too.

The movie has its charm and a stable of good actors, but these two as the leads are just blah.

But the movie has none of the awful and glaring plot holes the anime/manga did.

I haven't finished the movie yet so I dunno what to tell you. I also don't remember any plot holes in the first so I dunno what you're talking about.

This movie is much more succinct, that's for sure. Still, it doesn't mean it's better.

The plot holes aren't in the movie, only the much longer anime TV series.
I would point them out, but they also be spoilers.

What that name of the dude who confess on his death bead that Light is not Kira.
That by all rights should of derailed the Investigation, as a death bed confession taken pretty seriously.

Also the rules of the Book is mostly Bullshit after rule 4 (the rules over the Death Gods themselves) as there so many loop holes the death gods can take.

Death Note was pretty good. It wasn't faithful to the source material at all but I found it pretty enjoyable. I was hesitant to press play but time flew by when watching it. It's a little cheesy and I don't think It was on purpose but overall I liked it. The biggest knocks against it (if your aren't a weeaboo) are that the mind game between Light and L are completely removed and the pacing feels super rushed because they try to cram so much stuff into an 1:40 movie. I hope it gets a sequel but I have a feeling it's going to be hated by everyone.

I finally saw Dear White People and I gotta say it was pretty good. They definitely used the movie as a jumping point, but really fleshed out the characters afterward and ended it all on an interesting note. I hope S2 comes out soon.

Yeah, considering the source material it seems fine enough and at least on par with live action Japanese movie they put out a few years ago. Some people just can't be pleased no matter what when something is adapted to another media or region.

They should. I won't. I advocate setting the world on fire. But morons who actually like it, benefit from society, would do well to thank you and men like you for not visiting hell upon them.

weaboos love to do two things that i find interesting.

    1. blame hollywood for shitty movie adaptions...when they still have to buy the rights from japan. if you wanna cry why not to japan? is it because of the evillll white man?

    2. they never wanna admit, japan has been making shit adaptions for decades...long before america got into the mix. is asian washing a thing? cause it should be for some of those adaptians that were clearly not meant to be asian.

Effective Oct. 19, Netflix customers will begin to see increases in their monthly subscription bills if they are signed on to the standard or premium plans. For everyone that gets by with the basic plan — you win this round.

The standard plan will see a bump from $9.99 per month to $10.99 per month, while the premium plan jumps up two dollars, rising to $13.99 per month from the previous $11.99 per month. Though current customers will reportedly be informed of the bill change come the middle of October, those who try to sign up today will already see the updated prices.

Netflix’s upcharge marks the first major price increase since 2014. The streaming service still offers a lower price than HBO Now ($15 per month), but the premium plan now surpasses the monthly cost of Hulu Plus ($11.99 per month).

Given the ever-increasing number of shows and films exclusively streaming on Netflix, (i.e. Stranger Things), the price bump probably won’t deter too many people from keeping their accounts. Even so, the subscriptions function on a month-to-month basis, so customers can back out whenever they want.

Prepare to pay more for Netflix...........

In 1999, Jim Carrey portrayed his idol Andy Kaufman in “Man on the Moon.” For twenty years, the behind-the-scenes footage has been withheld…until now. Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond - With a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton premieres November 17th, only on Netflix.

I personally enjoyed Man on the Moon........so I'll check this out.

sheeeeit, Kristen is thinner than what I normally like but damn I'd ravage the unholy hell out of that. She could piss on me and I'd be fine with it.
Obviously I'm looking forward to Jessica Jones season 2.

I'm so lazy with the binging though...I'm still only about halfway done with Defenders and just finished watching Jessica Jones a couple of months ago....never finished watching Luke Cage or Iron Fist either.

Speaking of Jessica Jones, here's some "old" news that showed up on my feed some time ago via Syfy wire:

    syfy.com/syfywire/krysten-ritter-was-punched-in-the-face-and-passed-out-during-jessica-jones-fight-scene
Few could dispute that Krysten Ritter plays one kick-ass former superhero in Jessica Jones. And we’ve only seen her action prowess increase in The Defenders crossover, where Ritter has been pushing herself further in fight scenes. Perhaps even a little too far.

In a recent interview with Women’s Health magazine, the actress explains how during one onscreen action battle filmed in July, she ended up getting punched in the face and subsequently passed out. "I saw the blood everywhere, and I panicked,” she revealed.

"I felt like such a loser the first time,” she added on the subject of fight scenes. “I didn't know how to throw a punch -- why would I? Who knows how to throw a punch? Now I do it all the time, and it makes me feel strong. It's so f---ing fun."

Ritter’s interpretation of the hard-living former superhero trying to reinvent herself as a private eye has been a hit with Marvel fans. Judging by her dedication to performing her own stunts, it’s not hard to see why, either.

In fact, the actress just keeps giving us reasons to love her more: She recently revealed to Vulture how she stays sane with the hectic filming schedule by indulging in things just for her, including: juice, knitting, reading, and watching Game of Thrones. (As well as, as she put it, still eating pizza and "sandwiches the size of my head.")

The Defenders and Marvel’s Jessica Jones are all available to stream on Netflix now. Filming for Season 2 of Jessica Jones began in April this year and is scheduled to be released in 2018.

Gotta say that was very unfortunate but props to her for making it a great learning experience on how to throw punches and not being on the receiving end.
