A lot of EX3 matches. They are very good, so for anyone that wants to see how the game is played at a decent level, this is pretty good.

They tag in and out so much, even before the recoverable health is filled back up. Do you lose whatever recoverable health is not regained once you tag the damaged partner back in? If so these guys are wasting a shit load of possible life in these matches.

Yeah, and not to mention a lack of a neutral and singles game. Their execution is top notchbut against someone that's defensive they might have some problems. Or maybe not, perhaps their overwhelming offense will do the job regardless of throwing away red life.

Acually player 1 was doing decent poke game and knew how to confirm, player 1 sagat was the MVP o fthat match with is no surprise when you consider every in their was rushdown characters. D.D was fram traping, Sharon doing several cancel, and Bison pycho cannon oki seem impressive but i'm not sure what he really get out of it in the end.

I know this has been asked before, but does anyone have a save state for EX2+ with all the characters unlocked? I have some cheat, but it doesn't enable the characters unlock, I'd just have to choose them through the cheat menu which is simply ridiculous.
  • ShinjiGohanShinjiGohan Joined: Posts: 5,007 ✭✭✭✭✭ OG
you can't use the cheat and then make a save state from that? Otherwise, I probably doubt it. Who would have left an emulator on for 2 months or whatever straight just to make a save state with the characters unlocked?

So broken how chun li and kairi can get infinites off of a poke, without any meter too.
  • ShinjiGohanShinjiGohan Joined: Posts: 5,007 ✭✭✭✭✭ OG
If you can pull off a lightning kick infinite on any opponent in the heat of battle then you deserve the win. Being able to consistently cancel a normal into a lightning kick, then ending the lightning kick on the right frame so that you have enough frame advantage to get a 2 frame link to another normal and then cancel that into another lightning kick is very hard. Get the spacing wrong on the inital poke and you can't loop the lightning kick. Its basically like saying the El Feurte infinite in SF4V was broken.

Kairi has no infinites. What you saw was a temporary power up. To activate you need to either do his level 3 meteor (kamehameha). That will then start draining his health away. And until he has 1 health left he'll be in that power up. Then the power up ends. BTW the move is generally unsafe and can be easily punished whether you connect or not. And Tagging out cancels the power up.

The 2nd way to activate it is a move like a raging demon. LP, HP, MK, f, Lk, MP, HK. This move uses 1 bar of meter. However Kairi must be in low health. Like 15% health or something like that. You can combo into it, however that combo won't lead to that sequence that you thought was an infinite. As the move takes too long to activate and recover from to combo anything from it without a tag. And generally the only moves which would grant enough hit stun to combo from are supers that'll knock the opponent away from you thus they won't stay grounded enough to perform the loop.

Then you get into the problem of walking forward normals into hadoukens without accidentally getting a shoryuken.

Basically what I'm saying is that in practice neither of them are broken. In training mode, sure anything can be broken. But matches don't lend themselves to the same situations.

@HeLGeN-X I have a nvram that unlocks EX2+ characters in MAME.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download/jtznd0h5ltn/sfex2p.nv

This doesn't help for online matches though sadly. I think an application (a trainer) can do this during every online session, but it's just a weird process. The best way would be rom hacking it to automatically unlock the characters, but I know little about hard coding into the rom itself. An alternative would be finding a way to use cheats during P2P, which I haven't found out how to do yet. Trying to run share save states won't work either since the game will crash.
With all the hope combined... there can be a chance in SFV that Ken can, one day, walk again. #TeamWheelchair

Im sure its harder to do in sf4 and I've seen people pull it off online, Brolylegs can do them and he plays with his mouth. It bothers me that the game can award a player who has good execution more than a player with solid fundimentals. I could be outplaying my opponent get hit with 1 cr.mk into infinite and I lose, they dont deserve the round imo. Elfs run stop loops are not broken because he has no way of landing it unless the other player does something really unsafe.

They don't get the round. EX3 4 player isn't like TTT or SFxT. Both of your players have to die to lose the round.

For whether the lightning kick infinite is harder or not doesn't really matter. No one plays the game seriously enough to master the infinite to pull off in gameplay situations. HK players that can pull off the infinite never did it in matches (whether by choice or practicality is unknown). Never happens in the a-cho matches. So I wouldn't worry about it. Nor would I worry about a combo that desk pulls off to be an accurate representation of what the SFEX player base can do.

I've seen a chun player do the infinite at a-cho, playing ex2. Not sure why the EX didnt get any attention.

oh? Did he win the tournament with that infinite? Or just win the round? Or did he mess up after a few loops?

I'm still trying to tear EX3 up lol. I'm currently looking for frame data or a hitbox viewer. Anyone know where I could find or get it?
Also iWin, that Kairi infinite is quite literally impossible to do in a match. And that Chun infinite is in like 5 Street Fighter games including SFIV. the chances of you getting punished with an infinite in this game are slim to none. High damaging or even touch of death combo? possibly. Not an infinite though.

Its not an infinite in sf4. Like SG said nobody cares enough about this game to master the infinite, thats the only reason you will rarely see it.

  • ShinjiGohanShinjiGohan Joined: Posts: 5,007 ✭✭✭✭✭ OG
Well the Kairi one, technically isn't an infinite. He remains in that powered up form until his health drains down to 1/0 point's. Then that mode deactivates and he won't be able to do that loop anymore. It does require that he either spend a lvl 1 super if he's already at low health, or a lvl 3 if you got the meter and health to spare.

@ CapnWTF As far as I know, no one has ever made any cheat or trainer to display the hitboxes. I asked JedPossim or whatever his name was about it. But he had no interest in looking into it. That would have been nice at least for the arcade versions of ex1 thru ex2+. Might be something that capcom could do if they ever release a collection of those games.

all I see is that they are using the invincibility of the tag as a defensive maneuver in order to start their offense again. the D. Dark is inefficient though!

Uploaded some EX3 casuals from this year's Final Round and last. (I'm a notorious procrastinator so that's why they're so close together....). We only get a chance to play this game once a year so don't expect anything amazing.

Saotome Kaneda...we didn't get to play anything together this year. I was very disappointed in that. You and Scott Popular besmirch me constantly.

I'm looking to mod a PS2 output so I can split the multi av out to two items at once. One the portable hori screen for the PS3 (works great for the PS2, no lag), and to a recorder of some type. If only there was a product already out that already split the PS2 multi av out to two ports... la sigh.

I did that when I used to use the diamond USB capture device to record my videos. I had to do that because the device itself didn't provide that capability like newer products do. The problem is that the video quality would suffer. The finished video is less crisp than if you had directly hooked the capture device to the computer and the screen the players are using got slightly darker.

I now use a completely different capture device that supports both new and old systems and it works very well for me.

These games are so unappreciated. I'm starting a small series of TAS' culminating in the MANIAC mode for EX2+, to try and drum up interest in these games. Here's the first one I've finished.

Got some matches in with Dai and his brother a few days ago. Didn't record anything but we found something hilarious. Basically I did Sagat's LV3 meteor and he did Kairi's teleport over me and got on my back side in which he then did Kairi's lv3 kamehameha. Except the beam went through through me and didn't hit me out of the meteor at all. Infact when Sagat raised the energy ball over his head he hit Kairi out of his kamehameha.

I'm guessing Sagat has full invulnerability throughout the meteor. And the hitbox of the energy ball seems to extend behind him.

You know I've been watching some high level EX2+ and damn the game looks good. What is the tier list by the way.
  • ShinjiGohanShinjiGohan Joined: Posts: 5,007 ✭✭✭✭✭ OG
According to a columbian website they had the tiers for EX2P as
    SFEX2+

    1st Tier
    Garuda
    Sharon

    2nd Tier
    Rosso
    Dhalsim
    Area
    D.Dark
    Hokuto
    Kairi
    Skullo
    Shadow
    Guile
    Nanase
    Sagat
    Ken

    3rd
Not too sure about the order on this one.
    Bison
    Jack
    Ryu
    Chun Li
    Zangief
    Darun
    Hayate
    Blanka

    4th
    Vega

I'm sure somewhere in the pages of this topic there was a few more tier lists that we gave. But in the end I would say it wouldn't really matter. You aren't likely to find someone to play against where tiers are even going to matter. And to that point, tier lists are supposed to change based on what people discover, but without a deep scene you can never really discover everything so it makes having a good tier list almost impossible.

For example the tier list above has chun li being 3rd tier. Now we have to ask ourselves, did they know about her lightning kick infinite loop? If they didn't, then that changes their tier listings. What if they knew about it but no one they knew could do it consistently so they wrote if off? Meanwhile if you have another group of friends who could do the lightning kick infinite loop on command they may end up putting Chun Li in 1st tier. After all at that point all you need is 1 poke with the right distance and you won the match.

So play with who you like. Garuda is good for bulk damage and chip damage, sharon has throw mix ups, rosso has rush down and an infinite loop (only against big guys???), Sim controls space very well and has some good juggles, Area is a rush down queen and can control space very well. D.Dark has an easy cross up knockdown that can be exploited, Nanase has a nigh infinite loop that requires a ton of meter and very execution heavy. But lots of characters all do very well, so again I don't think it really matters. Nearly everyone can compete with anyone. It's all up to the player.

Well you can play it online with epsxe and kaillera. However I found the netcode at the time horrible... then again I think that was back in college with horrible internet in 1999-2003, so maybe it'd be better now... God I can't believe I used to yearn for a dedicated T1 line which at this point is several of times slower than cable...

Got some games in at combobreaker this weekend. Looks like several of the SFEX2p players flat out ignored it though. Granted it was EX3, but still didn't even come up and ask to put in EX2p. Missed some games with webster, but we'll do it again another time. Sadly didn't hack that hori display yet so no recorded footage.
