    I'm not nearly as good as pootnanies at this, and 3S's sprites are a bit detailed, but I'm giving a crack at it. This is it partially done, should finish up the rest and coloring tommorow.

    looks pretty good to me. what resolution are u working with? the higher it is, the harder it's going to be. i suggest just making it 4.5 times the original sprite's size and go from there.

    I transformed it into a 4:3 ratio, then scaled it up to what it would be in a 1080p.

    the way i do it, i blow up the original sprite 450% and start outlining it on a new layer. then i lock the pixels on the line art. i take the color of the outside line from the original sprite and then color the new line work with the respected colors. after that i do the flats and eventually work my way up to the shading/lighting.

    i've been wanting to do a tutorial on this for some time. anyone know what i should use for screen capturing?

    i've been wanting to do a tutorial on this for some time. anyone know what i should use for screen capturing?
    For just capturing images, you can use the "print screen" key to copy the screen to the clipboard. Then open paint or photoshop and ctrl+v to paste and edit.

    thanks. well once i start something it's hard for me to stop. i liked the way he was coming out so i finished him up. i didn't do him all at once. it took about a week to do all of it

    Hey Poot? What Dpi are usually working at? And what pixel size are you using. And I'm assuming you're using the pencil tool right?

    i usually work in 200dpi but it's not necessary. you can go lower. the first ones i did were much lower.

    i use the pencil tool for about half of the line work. the other half i use the line tool

    Wow, thread's still going strong. Nice work poot. Are you changing the aspect ratio to compensate for the oblong pixels using in the original sprite? That Makoto looks a bit long. If you stretch the image vertically by %129 it should match what you'd see on screen in-game. I believe that's the %age Udon is using as well.

    On another note, are all these palettized so you can swap out colors? I noticed that Udon has a lot of antialiased edges, and i'm wondering how they're different color choices are going to work. I'll trying to keep each color on a separate layer on mine, but the blending and stuff is being a bitch trying to keep it that way. I'm trying to make these as functional as possible within the game.

    Anywhoo, cool stuff, which Akuma frame are you going to use?
    Is that all child? Is that the extent of your strength? Let's see this Panzer Kunst of yours.

    thanks. i'm not changing the aspect ratio. it doesn't look stretched out to me. i might be wrong about this but, i heard the reason the sprites looked oblong was because the cps3 would send out pixels as rectangles. the sprites i've been working on have square pixels. again, i might be wrong about this.

    these are not palettized unfortunately but it's not impossible to match them up to their other colors. it just takes a long time.

    the akuma frame i'm working with next is #19046.

    i hope you do some more sprites. i reallllllllly loved the ryu one you posted a while back. i'm interested on how you'll make other characters:tup:

    i think these would be better if you went the extra mile and took some artistic direction into consideration. simply blowing them up and even copypasting the pallette is not very interesting i think!

    i guess i could make a version like that. i'll try that on a different character though, i'm tired of looking at akuma. maybe with an SNK character like jubei or haoumaru from samurai shodown.
