Without a sensor or actuator on the pad, I don't understand what kind of lag they're measuring.
Edit: I guess it's measuring time between updates.

For that price I would rather just dual mod with a pad and a dpdt switch. Would cost me $30 at most

A Reliable, lag free adapter that isn't going to fall apart on me after 2 weeks of use?
    I call shenanigans.
Also for part of one of there videos, the demo of a Xbox 360 controller for the PS3, why is the game play screen is a Xbox 360 game playing if this supposed to be a PS3 console.

I agree with Rufus on this one, without knowing the method how they test for lag, how are we supposed to trust their lag time results. And having the3 Xbox 360 controller lag less on the PS3 over a official PS3 controller does not sound right. Are they forcing a PS3 controller though their Cronus adapter before going to the PS3 console? If so that is redundant and unscientific.

It would be pretty easy to fake a test like that with a wireless controller.

Yeah... I wondered about that too. I thought the PS3 controllers only use the wire for power.

PS3 controllers only use the wire for syncing and charging as far as I know...

Although when connecting a PS3 controller to a computer you can use the cable to make it act as a wired controller.

It seems interesting... but I'd expect differences between the various controllers, even if they were only slight.

    Hi guys,

i am also looking for an adaptater to use a PS3 pad on my Xbox360, at first I found the XCM cross fire:
    http://www.xcm.cc/xcm_cross_fire_converter.htm
But some of you said it was laggy.

So the best adaptater would be the Universal controller Adapter Converter Mayflash?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/to-for-XBOX-360-PS3-PS2-PC-USB-Universal-Controller-Adapter-Converter-Mayflash-/251079608079?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7582c70f

It sounds too good to really be the truth, because this one is supposed to be laggless and working for both Xbox360 and PS3, and working with ps3 and ps2 pad on Xbox...
And this, for only 15 dollars????

I can't believe the Mayflash does better than the XCM being sold at 70 dollars!!!

Can you tell me accurately if the Mayflash has absolutely no lag at all? even slightly?

    Thx

All feedback on the Mayflash converter has been positive. Many people in our scene have now purchased one and many people have gotten to try it out at locals and casuals--again, all positive feedback.

The XCM adapter isn't expensive because it's good, it's expensive because it's overpriced. The thing probably costs $5 tops to manufacture.

OK thanks Mit, but does positives feedback mean it is completely laggless? not even slightly?
I would like it to be asbolutely clear without a doubt, with more details.

If i Buy it from this seller on ebay:

Any risk to get a forged product (imitation), since it comes from China?
I alwready got false official PS3 pad from Hong Kong that really looked like true official ones, so I'm a litle supicious.

There's no such thing as a completely legless converter never will be the better question to ask is are there issues with dropped inputs or multiple simultaneous input (multiple buttons pressed at once) those are bigger issues of course you want it to be virtually lagless

In general Mayflash is usually offers decant quality products their Ps2 to GC/Wii and wii to PC/PS3 are highly recommended. My recollection there have never been any issues with any of their controller adapters

What are my options if I want to use a USB keyboard for a PS3? Apparently, the XCM XFPS is really shitty but I haven't heard much else in terms of converters. How is the Eagle Eye or the Max Shooter Pro from Mayflash?

The very best option you can do is mod a cherry switch keyboard with a ps3 controller no converter would be needed but it would be spendy though but by far the best option.

You may have issues finding answers to questions like that here since most play with stick or pad I recommend checking out a FPS website there should be loads of info on such items there and though there game play is totally diffrent they still want common core things= limited lag and no dropped inputs.

I've never looked at this it at that perspective. I'll try it. Thanks.

Edit: Well they seem to be more concerned about mouse issues than button press latency and what not. Before I weigh my options, does modding a cherry switch keyboard involve soldering?
Edit2: Also, you mean to say people who use converters for Xbox to PS3 and etc. also have latency issues? Because I mentioned the Max Shooter Pro which apparently allows for cross platform controllers too.

I looked through the thread but I didn't see anyone answer the question I'm about to ask.....

I see that people got that Mayflash universal adapter, but I never saw if anyone confirmed whether or not PS3 arcade sticks work with 360 using the adapter. In particular, I am interested to know if the Hori PS3 sticks work with this. Also, if they do work, what is it like? Laggy or not? and all that good stuff.

    Thanks!

i'm happy to report that the tototek playstation>pc engine and playstation>sega genesis converter both work fine with an mc cthulhu using an RJ45 playstation cable. since pc engine is supported by the mc cthulhu it doesn't really matter but it's nice to know I can use my stick with sega genesis games.

  • way_ward_sonway_ward_son Joined: Posts: 3
This thing sounds pretty interesting. As far as the price thing goes sure, it's possible to dual mod a fight stick for cheaper but if you don't know how to do any of that yourself then this appeals greatly. Also, opening up and fiddling with your sticks insides ends your warranty, another thing the average person sometimes doesn't want to do. Plus, the Madcatz and Hori sticks are licensed for a reason, so that when Microsoft or Sony gets a bug up their but and decides to stop letting unlicensed controllers work, you are safe, lol. This would fix that worry because it can be updated.

I'm an average modder who knows how to install new parts to a stick (button and sticks etc.) But when I saw this adapter I also wanted it for the convenience of a 'clean' dual mod.

But like others I'm skeptical. For now I'm considering both options, this or a local dual mod.

Hopefully someone with a strong technical 'know-how' takes one for the team and fill us in.

So far however, from the Facebook page from a fellow customer who recently purchased it, claims that the adapter does not work with the hori edge 360 to be played on ps3.

    Hi,

I finally received my Universal controller Adapter Converter Mayflash,
but i can't get it to work at all on my Xbox360.
I have got a wired Xbox pad, and a PS3 Dual Shock 3, i also have the Xbox360 slim (black version)
The Xbox pad is also the black model.

Does this adapter work on slim Xbox 360?

I of course want to play with my PS3 pad on Xbox360, but the mayflash adapter does not even lighten up, and there are no intrsuctions at all within the package.
What should I do? Is there something I am doing wrong?

I just tried the adapter on my PS3 with a Xbox360 pad, and it worked really well.
But I can't still make it work on Xbox...
Maybe my Wired Xbox pad is too recent? It is the black version, and I might need an old white version?

I really hope the mayflash adapter also work on the Xhox360 slim model (in black), otherwise I would have bought it for nothing...

Ok I figured it out thanks to this video.

The way this adapter works is really weird, because:

    - To use a PS3 pad on Xbox360: first plug in your adaptater, then connect your wireless Xbox pad on the pluged adapter! The mayflash will only lighten up after doing so. After that, you have to disconnect you Xbox pad to the Mayflash adapter to replace it with the PS3 controller thanks to the USB charge cable, and it works.

    - To use XBOX pad on PS3: you only need to connect your wired PS3 pad directly to the PS3, you don't even need to connect it with the USB cable.
Then connect your Mayflash adapter with the Xbox wireless pad on it, and it directly works.

So the mayflash does not work the same on both consoles, you have to connect it in different ways.

Hi. Did anyone buy this item from this seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261005601235 ? It looks like the Blazepro PS2 to 360 converter, but seller says it's not the original Blazepro. I would like to know how much it's reliable and lagless.

Update on the Mayflash Universal Adapter...have been using this adapter for about 3 weeks now and I'm starting to have some big problems. When I use a 360 controller on ps3, my ps3 shuts off after about 10 minutes of play. I think it may have to do with a voltage problem with using a 360 controller on ps3. I'm using the original 60gb ps3 btw. Yesterday and today I've been playing mortal kombat collection on my 360 with a ps3 controller and have been getting dropped inputs a a little lag. My character also blocks when I'm not even pressing the R2 button on the controller. Pretty disappointed with the problems, especially not being able to use the 360 controller on my ps3, But then again the adapter only costs me $15.90 which is good.

PS...sorry for the late reply. Some mod banned me for no reason for 1 month. Don't know how mods can do that but whatever...

Here's a question: any idea what could cause a converter to suddenly stop working? I've got a Pelican PS2 to PS3 converter that no longer converts anything. The lights will come on some times and it will occasionally get power to the controller (Dualshock 2 Analog light comes on) but beyond that nothing. I'd kind of like to fix it if that's possible or failing that at least know how it borked.

Another feedback on Mayflash Universal Converter , I've done extensive testing on a PS3 slim console using xbox 360 gamepad . Played 100 SSF4 AE matches or so with my friend . I don't usually play on PS3 , but I was able to do the usual links and combos just fine , as an Akuma player , ie:BNB , tatsu > sweep , basic OS , so I'm pretty sure the input lag is minimal to none existent .

I got the CronusX converter for review. Should be similar to the regular Cronus unit but without an update firmware as of yet. For sure so far doesn't work on old style Hori PS3 stick pcb and the Qanba Q2 Standard PS3 stick, the PS2 pad works as well with help of the inPin on a 360. I was able to pull off my Tag 2 combos just fine if I was using stick. Electrics were not much of a problem either if you excuse human error.

I will be testing more sticks such as newtype Hori PS3 boards to 360 and 360 sticks on PS3.

I don't have a PS3 pad at the moment but I will do so as I am evaluating it. I feel like a DualShock 3 will work fine with either using Xbox 360 authentication mode or just plug-and-play.

Yeah. In those situations I just use a ps2 controller with an adapter. Best of luck!

I just tried out a Hori Fighting Edge on 360 and seems to work fine on a PS3 with the Cronus device. I didn't feel any apparent lag nor dropped inputs. Was able to do some of the advanced parrying trials and decent combos on 3SOE just fine, combos in Tekken were working well. Also, the LED lights were working just fine and had the color flashes when hit and the touch panel was working as intended.

Hey guys I bought the Mayflash Universal adapter. So far in my scene people that have had a chance to use it have said they have enjoyed using it and that they don't really feel any lag. This was also at a local San Diego Marvel Tourney called Salt Mines. I cant really give you a lag test but just from experience and word of mouth from a few others, I can say that it works and it's an incredible product for the money spent on it. Satoshimatrix has a vid on the adapter, Near the end talking about 3rd party controllers working and what not.

Satoshimatrix: As I've continuously said, third party 360 wired controllers WILL work on the PS3 with this adapter, but the vast majority of third party wired PS3 controllers will NOT work on the 360.

After he said that I really wanted to get a Hori Fighting Edge stick but didnt want to spend 400 bucks on both models I was also worried about it not working at all on any version because of the NEW PCB it had. I bought the adapter to test it out. it was cheap so why not? I kept seeing the question: Does this work on the fighting edge? Well my friend had a PS3 version fighting edge and just like the guy who tried it a few pages back, It was a disappointing fail after trying it. But since I ran mostly XBOX on my setup I bought myself the XBOX version of the Fighting Edge. Well I took another chance to see if it'll run the XBOX version...IT FUCKING WORKED... Now I wont have to worry about PS3 tournies at all. I can have my fighting edge for XBOX and play on PS3. Thing that sucks though Ill have to deal with color scheme of Microsoft. But I still have a fighting edge to use and thats all that matters to me. This adapter seems to favor XBOX just saying. Im glad I dont have to spend 80 bucks or more on a Adapter. Anyway. Point is if you want to have a single Fighting Edge for both consoles(besides Dual modding of course) just get yourself this adapter and the xbox version of the stick. I'll make a video later today to show you guys and post it on here.
    At Work:
Woman Bartender to me: HEY! So they transferred you here huh?
Me: Yeah well I bid for here and got it.
Woman Bartender: Cool! So how you been?
    Me: Good! how about you?
Woman Bartender: Just fine! alright gotta go see ya!
Me to my CO worker: psst hey!.......:confused:who the FUCK was that?

Sorry to necro this thread, but I figured mods would get pissed if I made another thread just to ask a question that may have already been answered here.

Since I hear the feedback on the Mayflash adapter is overwhelmingly positive, I'd just like to confirm one thing. To use the adapter for 360->PS3, I need another PS3 controller to sync it? I'm kinda wondering if I should just get the PS3 afterglow instead since it's only a couple bucks more and looks similar to mine (I use a 360 afterglow atm)...

This thread is fairly active actually.

From what I've read here and elsewhere, you do not need another PS3 controller.

when going from PS3 to 360, a wired 360 controller is needed to bypass MS the security chip

Anyone tried these raphnet Saturn-to-USB converters? Seems to work well according to this guy, but he didn't mention testing his controllers/sticks on a PS3.

Though I'm glad to hear that the blue Mayflash Sat/N64/PS2 to USB adapter seems to work very well- and it's cheaper than this one, anyway. Was just curious.

Recently I modded a Fighting Stick PS with a JLF and OBSF-30 buttons for another person. I tested the controller on my PS2 and worked fine, but it has problems with Inpin and Pelican adapters.

Problems = every input registers like the stick is in turbo even with the turbo levers disabled, but the repetitions are very slow (like two or three times per second)

Since I'm a dumbass and didn't test the stick prior to modding with PS2->PS3 adapters it I want to know if I screwed something or the Hori Fighting Stick PS is not compatible with those adapters.

Hopefuly someone still has that old controller... thanks!
