*UPDATE* I've decided to stop updating this thread. If anyone wants to have this thread update you have to do it yourself, sending me a pm with the entire list updated is the easiest way (for me, I don't want PMs with just one video added to the list). Last updated 18-oct.

Title says it all. Post a video in this thread or pm me with a link and I'll put it here. Since this is now the new official Fei Long video thread all discussion goes here too.

http://streetfighterdojo.com/sf4/characters/feilong.html many videos here.

Fei Long tutorial videos by DjB13. These videos miss a lot of really basic stuff but at least there is slow motion replays.

pretty good. two or three things i noticed that might help.

first thing is once you get an opponent in the corner, try to figure a way to work your pressure without sacrificing position. i probrablly counted 4 seperate occasions where you went for crossups while you had him trapped. he diddnt make you pay huge, but against a more turtle style opponent, you would have to chase him down as he walks back across the screen.

with your opponent trapped, you can stay at fie's most effective attack range, while not leaving your opponent too many escape options. versus rog, unless he has two or three stocks of ex, you can keep him pinned down with pokes, as most rush punches have long periods of startup where he is vulnerable to being hit.

the second thing is to keep your ultra and super buffered in as often as possible versus rog. any rush punch or TAP can be ultraed on reaction. you just have to watch for ex punches, as they will absorb the first hit of the ultra. this can be countered as well tho. rogs ex punches loose the armor property a few frames before he attacks. so if you delay the ultra a split second, your inv frames will keep you safe while still allowing you to land an attack

lastly, try to mix up your pre-emptive counters to his rush punches. a more skilled opponent may have noticed you trying to absorb his rushes, and gone with the gut punch, which armor breaks. mix in some neutral jump RH. better yet, if your reaction time is good enough, just go RH CW

The end of the first match was just nasty. Boxer does EX rush upper to counter focus and gets hit by a flame kick into a counter hit focus, good stuff. That boxer was charging db a lot you can take advantage of that easily by just playing simple footsies and scare him a bit with focus.

Edit: StarNab I found an online match with you. I put it here if you have any problem with it I'll remove it.

Thanks for the advices. True for the corner cross-up ! Never really thought about
But Boxer jab machine gun ruins my poking game and if i manage to beat Jab-mania, he'll throw some random Headbutt. That's why I have to calm down and take some distance sometimes.

I knew my opponent a bit and he is not the kind that throws full screen dash punches. When I know my opponent will try things like that I usually buffer Cr.MK -> Super, inputing the full motion. So in case he gets hit by the cr.MK, super comes out. if not, only cr.MK comes out.

I usually mix my pre-emptive counters with what you mention plus cr.HP which is pretty effective against the armor break dash punch.

@Bubblan : Sure you can. I remember that match. GeoM is easily the toughest Guile online. Encountered him many times, beat him only once.

    couple more vids of me-

first, a tourney we had a couple months back. my last tourney on a pad as i was learning to play stick. terrible execution, lots of jump. beat a ken, got destroyed by a ryu, who eventually won the whole thing. im much better than that now, but here it is anyway:

    ken-

    ryu-

then a casual tourney from yesterday versus a chun, and a bison. i lose both of these, but these are guys i play on a weekly basis, so they kinda go 50/50. the bison match looks a lot worse than than it is because usually whoever gets the momentum wins by a fucking landslide. so if i beat him, it looks equally as bad. but i put it up for your enjoyment and disection anyway

    chun-

    bison-

enjoy. im posting in both video threads

Oh man, he even started taunting you at that last round. I see why he would. He would just dash up on you with low jab into hands while you were being EXTREMELY cautious. The match looked way too chill for him being absent of real pressure. I like your composure though Starnab. You notice that the round you did win, you rekka'd him more? :P As you can see, getting him to the corner is not really a problem. ^_^ Also, I know

    low strong > low fierce

is good for fishing for that low fierce link after a low strong CH, but vs a character where you are trying to get in (especially when they have a life lead), maybe Fei players should opt to

    low strong > jab rekka
:u: which gives you the chance to play the mindgame and opt to low strong > dash up or low strong > jump forward

Then, when you have successfully landed a health lead (and a decent one), maybe switch to the strong to fierce keepaway.

You must not like the chickenwing in this match-up as a mid-screen? Any reason you didn't use one during the footsy after noticing Honda was giving up charge at certain points?

Hey guys. I just moved from Akuma to Fei Long, got tired of running away all the time with Akuma and it took me quite a while to get used to linking and combo'ing with Fei, but now I win most of my matches with him.

I dunno about the others, but the Zangief i fought mostly do cross up and larait/spd on wake up.
And cw isn't the best tool against Zangief. You got punished pretty much every time and cost quite a few ex bars, which should be spent on either super or ex fk imo.
Though I have to say I still have much to learn regarding applying pressure in this match up.

Yea his lariats can be a problem but you can counter it every time by c.HK, once you let him know you dont eat his lariats he'll give it up.

LOL, I know about CW now against zangief, i do better now on my match ups with him.

Only a month now using Fei, so I have some match ups to learn.

But applying pressure is my good spot.
  • bubblanbubblan Joined: Posts: 253
That Honda really was nice and I really liked how he did HHS FADC when the entire HHS wouldn't connect. StarNab you missed tons of punishment and you saved up an infinite amount of super without ever using it.

judge_rl what do you mean by midscreen CW? If it's where the first hit will whiff then I'd have to strongly disagree with you.

Evilsnatcher it's way to annoying for me to search through your entire channel for vids and put them here so for now I only put up your channel.

bgf you just can't put pressure on Zangief. That's one of the main reasons I'm only using Fei as my secondary now.

A bit outside of low strong range and a bit inside of fierce rekka range, *MK/RH CW will net at least 2hits (on hit or on block). This is if they don't see it from that range and respond with the appropriate counter(s). If they backdash, they usually get clipped by the last descending hit.

Honda often dashed up into that range.

*the reason why I don't really worry about focus vs CW at this range...dp is still a problem, so shotos/cammy (more specifically, Ryu/Sagat/Cammy with 2meter + ultra) don't allow the same attack option :P
  • bubblanbubblan Joined: Posts: 253
The only way I see MK CW hit at that range is if Honda whiffs his hk so why not do focus there instead when honda gives up charge? Less risk, better positioning and higher reward.

I was asking why he didn't use CW at all in that proximity; not asking why he used it over focus. Good point though, but there is a range where MK/RH CW will extend further than even Fei's focus Bub. Also, I wasn't just saying he should fish for a hit, but even to get the CW blocked if he is comfortable dealing with Honda's up-close options.

yea, Blanka is the last opponent you want to jump in. It's good to do so for a surprise attack though, you know, like 1 in 7 times.
And I'd use quite a few rekkas for pokes against the beast. Push him into the corner and don't let him get out. That's how I usually do in the match up.

And you have nice cross up. Either that or your opponents aren't good at dealing with them.
I think it's risky to do cross up against someone who can block them decently in the corner. The situation can reverse.
Then again, if your opponent can't block them, why not abuse it?

Speaking of abuses, I got a message saying I abused rekka against him in a G1 match. Looks like idiots are starting to get into G1 on the pc platform now.

I'm afraid of getting to G1, only need 500 points. thing is, im afraid because there are barely available games :/

Most people confuse on crossups when you start backing away, they think you're gonna run just when you go ahead and cross them up, its a risk, but i'm someone who takes risks.
