Ola.

Right I've set up a facebook group thing, for Irish fighting game meetups (super generic I know)
The aim is to keep people informed and to inform new (probably more casual) people about The Irish fighting game scene North and South. And East. And West.

So If your an Irish fighting game fan who's a bit lonely and looking for heads to bust check it.

Anywho here's the link:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=106506842542

This might be handy for those who don't post on forums much, or don't check regularly as you'll get an email about any upcoming events.

If you are looking for the forum where Republic of Ireland players post:
http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204

You'll find plenty of Irish gamertags to add there

For northern Irish players:
http://neoempire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=71
http://www.dragonslayers.org.uk/

Though of course Feel free to go the boards.ie site too.

Anywho hope that this is of some interest to any random irish people floating on by.
Peace

    Currently Casual meet ups happen in Dublin at a rate of about 1 a week
    Each Saturday from 2 - 6pm @ The Xtreme Gaming Centre on Lower Liffey Street

    I'll Try keep this thread updated with whats going on; The next meet up, any changes, forthcoming tournaments etc etc.

    Generally the price is ?5 and Pints are often had afterwards.
    Well I always do anyway.

    Here is it on a map

    From Busaras (the Central Bustation of Dublin) It is a 5-10 minute walk towards and past Liberty Hall (tallest building) and down by the Quays till you get to the Ha'penny Bridge.

    The Nearest LUAS Stop is Jervis

    From the Connelly Train station Take Talbot street until you reach O Connel Street and head south to reach the quays. Follow the Quays east until you hit the ha'penny bridge and its down a side street to your right.

    This is the bridge. From this Angle The Xgc Centre would be on the Left hand side.

    If you ever happen to be in dublin and fancy some games, some of the people from boards.ie will probably meet up with you regardless of the day of the week it is.
    They are a friendly lot.

    Almost Every Saturday between 2 and 6pm, there is a street fighter session in the XGC.
    Directions are above.
    Just enter the shop and head to the back and go up the stairs, the street fighter players will immediately be obvious and will help you out.

    This wednesday the 17th and hopefully following wednesdays, the SF players will be there also.

    This Saturday the 20th for a change a session is being held in Co.meath in Dunboyne, Information is available on the facebook group and on the boards.ie forum.

    If you can't make any of those, I suggest you join boards.ie and post a message in our section (linked below) Some of the dublin (or maybe even sligo) based players may be able to meet up with you.

    Glad you Got some games in the end, despite the awkward timing. The players here are always willing to accomadate. I don't live in Dublin myself unfortunatly.

    Anyway World Game Cup in on in Cannes this week and Ireland are sending a 14 man contingent.
    On the 4th of March 14 Irish players from the Fighting Game Forum and the Irish Fighting Game Community will head over to Cannes, France to participate in the World Game Cup, arguably the largest Fighting Game tournament in Europe.

    Our players will mostly be competing in the Street Fighter IV Solo & 2v2 category's but we also have players who will be fighting in Street Fighter III : Third Strike and Blazblue. Competition at the tournment will be extremely high with some of the best players from Europe, America and even Japan coming to fight, including the famous

    Despite the tough competition we have some very high level fighters heading over so we should be able to cause some trouble for even these well established international players, with what is (to our knowledge) the first significant Irish presence at an international fighting game tournament. Here are our fighters;

    * Blag (M Bison)
    * Coblecog (Cammy)
    * Chopperbyrne (Honda / El Furete)
    * Chunkis (Ryu / Sagat)
    * Doctor Doom (Guile)
    * Dreddy (Zangief)
    * Fake Roogle (Balrog)
    * Jimeatsmenu (Cammy)
    * Liquidsword (Fei Long)
    * New Type (Ryu)
    * Orim (Chun Li)
    * Ry (Ryu / C Viper)
    * V Deck (Rufus)
    * Xinkai (Sakura / Ryu)

    Blag (Bison) V New Type (Ryu)

    Coblecog (Cammy) V Bush (Chun Li)

    Fake Roogle (Balrog) V Doctor Doom (Guile)

    Chunkis (Sagat / Ryu) V Dreddy (Zangief)

    If anyone has any interest in fighting games head on over to the Fighting Game Forum. We have casual meetups once or twice a week in XGC, Liffey St, Dublin and there are regular tournaments in the form of Inferno Ranbats (Dublin) and Dragonslayers (Belfast). Keep an eye on the forum for info on all these events. There's no skill discrimination here so feel free to post and come to any of the events if you think you're the best or are a brand new player looking for some friendly games or advice!

    Bad news: Unless you're content to play outdated versions of Tekken 6 or VF5 there's nothing for you in Dublin's arcades (or at least in Dr. Quirkey's, the main arcade. I don't think anywhere else in Dublin has fighting games at all, though.) Also, no MVC2 scene to speak of.

    Good news: There is a healthy (and growing) Street Fighter scene in Dublin. Tomorrow there will be a free SSF4 launch event (see previous post) and there are regular meetups at the same venue. Check out http://streetfighter.ie/ and http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204 if you want to know more about the Irish fighting game community.

    For various reasons, lack of attendance being the big one, the evo tickets prize was kept over till this weeks inferno tournament.

    None of the top 3 can go, so it's still unclear what the situation re: the ticket is.

    I'm not to familiar with the derry scene (though i know there is something up there) The Dragonslayers guys in Belfast would be the next closest bet they run regular tournaments etc and would know the lay of the land up there.

    you should PM Yerval at the top of the page, I'd bet he'd be able to fill you in better.

    Hi all,

    I will be traveling to Ireland late August and I was wondering if there are any arcades in/around Dublin? Not a crucial thing, but my GF wants a day with her friend and I would like to kill the time playing some Super or whatever.

    Thanks in advance.

    Every Sat and Wednesday we have casual games (if a tournament is not taking place) and outside of those days people would be happy to meet up with you for a some games.

    What dates will you be in Dublin?
