a lot of people complain about the price, and they are marked up, but if you are in the business of buying arcade boards, monitors, etc. this is one of the less expensive items.

Wasn't that thing like $400 when it came out?

And...the buttons on the HSS-0130 are soldered to the PCB. That thing used to be my favorite arcade stick, until I tried to mod one...

i dont rememberwhat it costed they go for like 350-400 stock but the hss-0130 kills this stick lol and it comes with a arcade panel so you can change it to what ever you want here are so many panels you could buy and its around the same price but anyway i would got this if it was around 250 but i can't justify spending that much on a stick especially since i still have my mint all sanwa ps1 hss-0130 i rather have a cab though:)

That's actually one thing I was wondering about...could you put a different Vewlix panel in this?

    ibeatu, replied to your pm.

Don't think it is an actual vewlix panel because it is a couple inches shorter...I assume (delta 32 cab cp can take either sega or vewlix panels. Seeing the overall length of the stick is about 22 and just the sega panel is about 25 I would assume the panel is exactly what you would find on a vewlix cab).

However, without measurements, it seems to have the exact same layout so you might be able to have different overlays lazer cut to fit (pm'd the guy who makes the TE plexi about this a while back). Also the overlay material seems to be the same as an actual vewlix panel, which is important to me. Looks a lot more authentic than some photoshop printout made at kinkos.

edit: how does the hss-0130 kill this stick?

just for the same price i feel the hss-0130 is more worth it you can switch with actual arcade panels and it is a actual mold of what you would play on a astro cab same as this its just a little shorter but if you were using the stick for tourneys then this viewlex one is better the hss-0130 is huge

Yeah, the fact the hss usual actual panels is one of the things I like best. Like how the hori stick opens like an actual vewlix cab though...plus like you said it is a little shorter.

Hopefully there will be some high resolution shots of it soon so we can get a better idea...maybe other stuff changed from when it was first shown.

Trying to dig around to find better pictures of the stick and came across this page. Shows the stick in a lot better detail. Will still look around to try and find more.

Nice features. Not sure I'd like the idea of spare parts rattling around in the thing, but it's a smart idea for those that want it.

Just surprised we haven't seen anyone complain about not having enough wrist room...
I believe experience with the HRAP.V3-SA has shown that the wrist is meant to rest on the angled forward part of the stick, just like in the MadCatz SE (there's even a pic of it in the Hori site).
For me, SF4 got fighting games backward - combos are supposed to be easy and reversals are supposed to be hard.

If Play Asia are indeed stocking it, it's best to get it from them.

So how long until Madcatz makes a $300 stick to give Hori a competitor in this price bracket too?

i'm sorry, i own a TE and an HRAP-EX SE and it looks like this baby puts them BOTH to shame. shame that price is probably what makes the stick "premium."

If only the price was a bit lower. I'm not surprised by it, but I was hoping for under $250. When you boil it down, you're paying an awful lot for that red control panel. It's beautiful though and, although I probably wouldn't use it, I love the idea of storing plugs/buttons inside. Very cool.

I've never heard of any other controller being region locked. I don't even think it would be possible to do so, but I could be wrong. I doubt Hori would bother either way.

The official product page is now up :)

    http://www.hori.jp/products/multi/controller/rap_premium_vlx/PS3.html

I'm sooo tempted to buy one, but i honestly don't think i'll get anything more from it compared to my TE. It won't make my execution any better :)

edit: oops, it appears the first post has already been updated with this link :)

It's the very top-right port, on the area of the joystick where the Guide button and turbo switches are located.
The background is favored in this matchup.

Not until they get a proper QA department or charge half the price.

can't imagine there would be a ton of them considering price, but who knows.

Anyone know what it says on the cp in the lower right hand corner? lisenced by hori? Would be dumb to have that and then have hori in the upper left...should be vewlix if it says that :)

Its a great looking stick - but as others have said, a little too costly to consider right now.

Maybe if I sell a body part... ;)

It's a nice stick, but no one really needs it at this time. The only purpose for these sticks is to saturate the Asian market because Madcatz hasn't really tried too hard there yet. I read something a while back stating that most top players in Japan had imported Madcatz TE sticks from the US. Looks like Hori just wanted to step up their game a notch to compete with Madcatz.

The TE was designed so well that it basically covers everything already and there is nothing new or necessary to the Hori model. The only thing better in the stick would probably be the PCB. It's clearly not a good stick to take around... my TE stick fits perfectly in my lap/backpack/table, if it were any bigger it wouldn't fit. The price is also two or three times the cost.

    It's a nice collectors item.

seriously, the TE stick is as good as it gets aside from minor pcb problems. its heavy enough not to move around, light enough to carry around and easily moddable.
