I am pretty much new to this forum. I am not a technical person when it come to this. I am a PS3 owner. I just got my VLX. I need to ask for all VLX owners if you have ever had turbo button problem. How to fix it to work ? The stick can play but have problem with Turbo button function. The light is not on. After trying many times (more than 10 times) finally it is on but experiencing messed up movement meaning to say for example I play Street Fighter game. The character I am using either going to the left by itself all the way (like a messed up mouse in the computer when we sometime got mouse problem for computer) or unable to jump back or forward. Also I tried to quit the game it asked yes or no. By default is no and I could not move it to yes at all. I have to use another controller to quit the game. After managed to on it I am unable to off. The only way to off is to shutdown my PS3 and restart. Is this means turbo button is spoilt ?

After watching from youtube, I managed to open it and checked all cables connection are nothing loose. All connection are pretty tight. The cable for the Turbo button is together with PS3 home button. Both are not possible to reach the other end. One end coonected to the Hori board which I managed to check and the other end is not reachable. It is inside the casing. PS3 home button, Select button and turbo button are all inside the casing. I have no idea and don't think has the capability to open the wall casing.

The specs said "Turbo hold function also available" What kind of function is this ? Do normally people using Turbo button at all ? Any advantage at all using it ? Especially if playing SSF4 or SF X Tekken.

Thanks and appreciate very much your feedback.

Any feedback ? Please ... I deeply appreciated.

I know the VLX turbo function applies to ALL buttons and directions (which is silly). When the stick is plugged in the best thing to do is to reset the turbo function but holding down "turbo" and then press "back" once.

Anyway, here is my modified VLX I had laying around. I didnt like the position of the stick and buttons being soo close to the front edge so I moved it up as far as I could without modifying the frame. I also shifted the stick/buttons a little to the right so the LK button is more centralised like the TE's etc.

I fell in love with the blue/pink colour scheme after seeing it on Poison and feel it works really well. One aspect I really liked about the VLX panel was the mirror effect around the stick so I tried to implement that aswell which isn't very clear in the photos.

I cut a complete replacement stainless steel panel and full polycarbonate (lexan) panel. Inside I decided to get rid of the excessive wiring so simplified it by daisy chaining the grounds where ever possible. I created a whole a whole new wiring harness for it aswell everything can be reverted back to the original.

Thank you b15sdm. I appreciate your reply.

When you said "reset", do you mean enable ? I tried to press just the Turbo buton alone as per its manual stated. Press down to enable and press up to disabled. Did this many times still no light . If lucky then the light is on.I am just curious such and expensive product but 1 of the features does not work properly. That is why I am wondering if all VLX sticks are the same issue.

There is no doubt that I prefer to disable the Turbo button when playing SSF4 or any other fighting games but not sure if this function is better for its shmups. I own Madcatz TE Stick and Hori V3-SA stick, both are fantastic. All their function are working as per specs. As for VLX, I thought it would be something different and can have other "X factor Fun" by using the stick.

By the way, your stick is gorgeous and I especially like the very neat wiring methods that you have. Great job and nice to know you and especially when heard from someone who reply. I deeply appreciate your answer. Thank you.

    turbo is applied per button/direction.
    turbo+back turns everything off.

turbo + button = that button is now on turbo 1, turbo2, or off, depending on how many times you press the button.
now you just hold down the button.

think of turbo as a macro. it doesn't do anything itself by itself, but needs other inputs.

Thank you osiriskidd. I appreciate your reply.

Just to clarify that there are 2 things here mainly Turbo button and Turbo Switch. When you said turbo 1 and turbo 2, are you refering to Turbo Switch which control the speed (3 turbo speed settings: 5 times/sec, 12 times/sec, 20 times/sec) ?

    Tried mine as following:
    1. Hold down Turbo button and hit the direction on the sticks (back or forward). The turbo light is now on. I have difficulty of executing special move such as Ryu ultra or hadoken. I have not yet test further on this.

    2. Hold down Turbo button for the second time and hit the direction on the sticks (back or forward). Turbo light is on and blinking. At this stage, I am experiencing messed up movement. Depending on which direction of the sticks that you press. I you use back/left, the character will always move by itself toward left (keep dash backward to the left) and the same if you use forward/right (keep dash forward to the right)

    3. Hold down Turbo button for the third time and hit the direction on the sticks (back or forward). The result would be depending on which games title you play.

For SSF4 = Nothing happen. Turbo light is still on and blinking. I found the only way to Off this is to press PS3 home button.
For SF X Tekken = Off.
Other titles are not yet tried.

Is this normal ? Do any of VLX owners have this problem ?

A BIG Thank You to all for the answer.

Thanks bro but why are you trying to apply turbo to the directions (back or forward)?

If you want to turn the turbo completely off hold down turbo and press the back button which is next to it and then let go of turbo.

Now all of your inputs will be fixed.

applying turbo to your directions makes it harder to time things.

to be honest not a whole lot of people use turbo unless its shmups

VLX PS3 does not have back button. At least, I can not find it. The button next to it is Select button:
    ps3_rap_3_vlx_09.jpg

I did point #1 just to enable the turbo function. Otherwise, my turbo light will never on.

I did point #3 in order to disable it which does not work in SSF4 title but working with SF X Tekken. So I am very puzzle if all VLX for PS3 have this problem.

As for point #2, I am not sure what this function created for ?

    Thank you for your reply.

I guess so. But not tried yet especially on shmups I can not wait to test with this stick.

    Thank you.

Ah Ha .... Interesting... You just save my day. I will try again. Thank you so much for the information. You rock, bro.

I tried to read this information on the manual but unfortunately in Japanese. I just guessing from the picture and could not figure it out.

Anyone know where to get/download the English version of the VLX manual ?

Thank you all. This forum Rock !

Something probably snapped on the door?

Any suggestions on my cord door that won't stay shut?

The small tabs on the door eventually wear away (ever soo slightly) which is the reason for the door not snapping shut.

I did the following on mine but you must be very careful as you don't want to snap the tabs of entirely.

    - Place the door (mesh side facing up) flat on a table with the mesh side facing up preferably one which wont be affected by heat.

    - Use a hair drier on hottest setting or a heat gun (EXTREMELY careful with this one otherwise you can melt it)

    - Simply heat up one of the small tab and a small area around it especially the area around it and once its quite hot simply apply a bit of pressure to the tab to push it outwards.

    - This will take some time to do as the plastic is quite brittle so once you have pushed it outwards by a fraction simply hold it in that position and wait for it to cool down or drop some cold water onto the area which will help speed up the process abit.

    - Once you have done one side, simply repeat for the other tab.

Please bare in mind you will only need to bend them out by 0.5mm or go by trial and improvement.

I have two of these sticks. one for ps3 and one for the 360. I am seriously thinking about changing the artwork on these. I'm just not sure where to start. What is the easiest way to go about this? What material is the actual red Vewlix panel that is on there now? I just want to know what i am getting myself into and what to expect before I start taking anything apart. A little help from someone who knows would definitely go a long way

Oh snap, so it doesn't have to just be a TE for the 360 it can theoretically be any 360 stick that can house it properly? Yeah this sounds like the best way to go for my 360 VLX

Question though, how do you get it to plug into other consoles? Namely the consoles without USB ports? Is there some adapter you have to by for each console or something?

Has anyone installed an LS-32 in one of these? I tried to do it today but it turns out that the two center holes that line up with the Seimitsu plate aren't threaded.

What can I do here? Do I need to thread the holes or is there another solution?

How much could I sell a brand new VLX for?

With a reputable feedback, you can get ~$350 give or take $50 plus shipping on eBay. On here, I'd say a little less. There was a brand new 360 VLX that just sold for $400 - $405 plus shipping a few days ago on eBay.

Some recent changes to the VLX's:

    - Sanwa silent OBSC translucent blue buttons, Sanwa translucent blue shaft cover & dust cover, Butteroj blue/white swirl 38mm balltop & Qanba blue button plugs on the Diamond VLX
    - All-Seimitsu (LS32-01, smoke aka translucent grey bubbletop & PS-14-K & with a translucent red PS-14-D-N-K) components & Qanba red button plugs on the OG red VLX

Question on modding a PS3 VLX...if I were to remove the small plug-in harnesses from the PS3 pcb, could I plug those straight in to an xbox 360 VLX pcb and retain home, back and turbo functions via the ps3 turbo panel? Basically just swapping the ps3 pcb for an xbox one so I could still use the turbo panel buttons.

If not, what's the simplest way to wire the ps3 button, select and turbo to a PS360+? The little daughterboard is hidden away up there.

I finally got my PS360+ in this week to replace the original PS360 I already had in my PS3 VLX Premium. There is no Turbo on the PS360+, but here's some help to share for the rest of that mini board.
    A - LED1
    B - LED2
    C - LED3
    D - LED4
    E - Home/Guide
    F - Select/Back
    G - N/A *Turbo on PS360
    H - GND
    I,J,K - N/A
L - VCC (from LED harness for PS360+ (Thanks to Focus Attack support for figuring this out for me)

I was able to find male connectors for each of the different harnesses when I modded it the first time around with the PS360 so I could just solder right onto those instead of snipping anything or making any permanent changes to the original wires.

Sorry, I don't know about swapping in a Hori PCB for a 360 version.

I was able to find male connectors for each of the different harnesses when I modded it the first time around with the PS360 so I could just solder right onto those instead of snipping anything or making any permanent changes to the original wires.

Sorry, I don't know about swapping in a Hori PCB for a 360 version.
That's really good to know. I was about to mod my vlx diamond with PS360+, and I was also wondering about LED connection. So, you mean that LED works perfectly with PS360+ with following your pinout and connecting them to PS360+? Just to make sure that the daughter PCB of vlx is not burned. Thanks for sharing!

I finally got my PS360+ in this week to replace the original PS360 I already had in my PS3 VLX Premium. There is no Turbo on the PS360+, but here's some help to share for the rest of that mini board.

Very cool. Thank you! Finding some proper connectors is a good idea.

Yeah, the LED's work just like they did with the OEM. Made me happy when I tested it out. That and PS2/DC compatibility were the main/only factors for me to upgrade from the original PS360.

Need help with HORI RAP VLX I think the little control box inside burnt out or there is a short in my USB cable, I have not modded my stick in anyway but with in the last year my controller has gone from bugging out every now and again to not working at all. basically what I need is the information to fix this problem. I can provide more details to anyone who can help

Hi, I just ordered a VLX Diamond and need to get it modded for Xbox use. Can I just get something clarified (yep, I'm a total mod noob!); Does the PS360+ unit replace or sit along side the original Hori/PS3 PCB? And once it's installed there's no turbo function even on a PS3?

Also, is the original PCB in the VLX a common/shared component with other Hori stick like the VX-SA? If so, would it not be possible to just get hold of another/cheaper stick and just swap the Xbox parts into a VLX Diamond so it looks pretty much standard?

Slightly mad question perhaps but, if I can, I'd rather keep the stick to appear as original as poss, which I'm sure some can appeciate! Other than the messy wiring which I'm having swapped out for nice, blue, braided jobbies whatever route I choose to go down. I'll post pics when it's done in a few weeks anyway for those interested in seeing how it looks.

The PS360+ replaces the original PCB, and it does not have Turbo. What you do get are up to 8 buttons, joystick, start, select/back and home/guide and the ability to use it across PS3/PS2/PS1, DC, PC, XBOX360/XBOX with the proper cables. I never use Turbo, so I don't mind losing that function in return for a arcade stick to play on (most of) them all.

Are you looking for a dual-mod or just converting it for use solely on 360 (or did you mean the original Xbox)? I believe there are a few solutions depending on what you want.

Does it register when you connect to a PC? If not, it might require a multimeter to test if it's due to the cable or PCB itself. Hopefully other members have other troubleshooting steps.
