Just a neat little instant overhead option I found with Volnutt. You can choose to go high or low, and it's fairly hard to react to since Volnutt's normals are lightning fast.

What characters can play lame/zoning in this game? I seem to remember Soki can with those unblockable shots.Who else though?

Saki's pretty much built for playing lame. Volnutt can too, but he's not as much of a specialist in that area, and requires a ton of work put in with him. Doronjo's another good choice for that kind of playstyle.

Thanks. Yeah I think I meant Saki instead of Soki.Who is her best partner/assist though? I know this game isnt as team synergy heavy as MVC3 but I somehow dont think a team of Saki/Doronjo would work so I'd like to know what options I'd have for a second character. Would something generic like Ryu, batsu, chun, yatterman or Ken the eagle work?

Is T.Blade a good zoning character at all? I seem to remember having some success throwing that scythe fireball that lead to cinematic hits.

I don't play Saki, but AFAIK she isn't assist reliant, so you can run her on point or 2nd without any issues. Assists in this game are a little less focused on controlling space (at least compared to Marvel), and are more focused on combo extension. As for Saki/Doronjo, you might get some luck if you flip the team order. Saki's assist isn't half bad, and Doronjo can probably get some nice extension off of it.

That said, I might suggest running Saki 2nd simply for the fact that a good battery character will benefit her unblockable shot game. All of the characters you mentioned have a nice point game and are worth considering.

I wouldn't really consider him a 'zoning' character per se, but his fireball is really good. What makes T. Blade really good is his offense and high damage output, not to mention his crossup potential. He's more of a pressure character if anything else.

Thanks alot. You've reminded me of how this game and the characters work. I used to play it when it came out but it had a non existant scene here in the UK tournament wise. I know some players who wanna play it again for fun and its given me the urge to relearn it now that I've found out what my playstyle is and I like picking characters based on that.

Was Zero really broken by the way? I was having this argument with my friend a couple weeks back. I remember him getting out of control towards the end of the games tournament lifecycle. It came to the point where if Marn was putting you in a blockstring with Zero you were pretty much dead because of how the meter gain and burst system worked in his favour. Did he have any weaknesses or bad matchups that never got fully explored?

I wish I knew myself, especially since I've picked him up; I really wish the tournament life for this game was longer so that we could have seen stuff like that flesh out more. What makes Zero scary is how well he can abuse the game's mechanics. He doesn't need to spend meter on anything but Mega Crashes, he builds a ton of bar, and can MC to keep an opponent in the corner. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as to call him 'broken', but he's definitely an S-Tier character. I think he is deadlier than people realize though, as Marn wasn't even playing him at his peak. OZ's Zero is much better IMO:

Aside from low health I can't really think of any glaring weaknesses that he has. He's certainly not the only really good char, though. T. Blade, Yatterman-1, Ken, and Chun are all super good too. I know Capcom said that there may be some older games that get played in the new tournament series that they're hosting, so hopefully this is one of them. I'd love to see some much-needed life get breathed into this game.

    someone call me here? XD

okay so you want a answer an i think i can provide some.

zero wasnt broken is just that people at that time fall for the basic cross up non cross up teleport with assist, is basic but its a really good cross up, as for zero hitstring, people has the thought that is no use to advanced guard zero, cause of his multiple hits an the fact thats all his normal move him forward, advance guarding against zero became a bad decision amoung top players, an this is why they fall for zero cross up mixups, but the true is zero is very weak against advance guard people oversaw this fact an they fall for teleport mixups as a punish, if you see my casual matches against my friend dimitrox you notice that not even once i got cross up by him, even thought he had a cross up based team, cause i as a zero player know better than anybody that advance guard prevents zero cross up game, an whats more it make some of zero unpunishable normals punishable.

As for bad matchups, zero is weak against rushdown characters like himself, lockdown tactics such with teams like saki chunli, an averall high priority characters like t.blade an yatterman-1 insane rushdown, they can prevent zero for moving at all.

I agree people completely overated zero for no reason since the best you could see at that time was cross ups an high priority but those things happens in fighting games.

The secret behind marn success was his averall experience in fighting games, zero an alex had nothing to do with that, it just happens that both character where perfect for the amoung of knowlegde he had about the game so he could use then effectible.

TRS and Kouhatsu have been uploading a large amount of vanillia TVC vids. Really wish UAS got ported to arcades, probably would have helped the game last a bit longer in Japan.

Really nice set. I liked Kbeasts Morrigan alot although he used his Yatterman/batsu team mainly.

Does anybody know how good Morrigan was in TVC? Any videos of good morrigan players? Her fireball assist seems really good and she seems to have some good runaway/keepaway with her three air fireballs and evasive air dashes.

She was kind of a meh-ish character because overall Ryu was stronger. Other than that she has a amazing fireball, Godlike anti-air launcher, one of the fastest overheads in the game, a decent dp, and a invincible supers to bait megacrash. Overall her mobility is good, but it's not as quick as other characters. The best thing about Morrigan is that her 3 fireball cover huge amount of space, and limits the oppotent options.

a notable player to play Morrigan is Tronzilla btw

The strongest keepway/runaway/zoning characters imo in the game are Saki(Really good one), Volnutt, Doronjo, Ken the Eagle(He has strong runaway), and Morrigan .

Do you think a team of Saki/Morrigan could work as a keepaway team? Is it worth playing Morrigan on point at all considering her assist is strong?

I think this may be posted on here somewhere but this link is relevant to the your question. Brian Kusugano use to post some amazing TVC videos before he got into MvC3. He is also a member here on SRK.

You can also check out his site of combo videos at http://briankasugano.wordpress.com/ for some nice TVC videos.

    Hope this helps.
