    5. Yellow will not be making a come back as a special color run. Only 3-4 sold overall, so it wasn't worth the effort to make them available. Hit me up offline and Ill see what I can do for you as a one off.

Thanks for answering my questions and I will definitely get a hold of you at some point in the future to see about this.

@Jasen Hicks Jasen, can you recommend a cable that will allow me to connect the LS RS DP connector on the Arcadeshock version of the PS4 Audio+ board to the EZ Mod board? I don't really wanna have to buy the one on your shop all over again. The board that is. Please let me know. Thanks.

No, all the cables are special made to specific connectors.

@Jasen Hicks Do you know what type of connector is on the Rev 2 board from AS? Maybe I can buy the connector and connect it to your cable that's included with the Panzer 3?

It’s just a generic 2.54mm non shrouded pin set. I have no idea the rise of it, so I wouldn’t even begin to know what housing would work.

@Jasen Hicks Jasen, doesn't the AS Rev 2 board work natively with your EZ Mod kits for the TE2 that you provided them? You're not sure what you used with those?

No, they have the wrong connector soldered there; it’s pin-pin compatible which isn’t the same thing as the same connector.

The EZ MOD uses a molex shrouded kk header which is the same thing as the Panzer 3. It’s a positive locking connector so the cable can’t come disconnected. The presoldered Brook boards come from Brook proper to the best of my knowledge. They don’t have enough clearance to use the kk housing. Some people have bent them to make it work. Any adapter you want to make is going to require soldering, purchasing parts from Mouser or Digi-Key there isn’t anything to my knowledge that just exists other than something like pre-crimped jumper wires used in bread boarding.

Also, I will try and help answer questions but please know that AS and I work on projects together they have their own supply chains and in house soldering. I don’t know everything they use nor do I have the resources to provide support for every possible vendor supplied part; I always recommend picking up the Brook boards direct from me as the end user will have a far easier time getting everything installed. In this case it’s generic pins that Brook provided and I can’t answer your question.

There are literally hundereds of manufacturers that make all of these parts vendors and Brook may use. I don’t want to make a recommendation on how to do something unless I know the part number so I can make a proper recommendation.

@Jasen Hicks I figured out I could just bend the connectors up on the audio board and it fit the connectors for the Panzer EZ Build board :). Last question. How is the lock switch wired up to the board? Like what connector does it get it's functionality through from the EZ Build to the PCB?

@Jasen Hicks Nevermind that last question. I see the lock switch has nothing to do with the Brook board but is a feature of the EZ Build board. Thanks for all your help today!

    Hi Jasen,

Probably a dumb question but I'm still fairly new to modding stuff in general so I thought I'd better ask.

I'm modding a Panthera for a friend who ordered an EZ Mod kit. I followed along with the instructions for installation on ArcadeShock and got it all put together, but the device isn't recognized by either a PS4 or PC. Tried running the Brooks Firmware Updater but as the stick isn't detected, it doesn't start. The UFB itself receives power (a light appears on the board, pictured below) so I'm not sure what the issue is. As a test I ran the firmware updater with my Panzer 3 and had zero issues.

I'm going to undo it all and reseat everything, but was just wondering if there was anything else I might be missing?

    Cheers

Any possibility of testing it on any other of the supported platforms (PS3/X360/XBO)?

Since it's not detected on either PS4 nor PC, sounds like the USB lines (at least the data lines) aren't connected to the UFB entirely/properly. I'd start troubleshooting from there.

Check the D+ and D- lines... I think they are probably not connected properly.

@Jasen Hicks Will this work with the panzer stick? https://www.focusattack.com/40mm-gold-anti-slip-joystick-case-feet-set-of-4/
Is the screw size the same? Thanks....

The screw that holds the feet is a 10-24 which requires .1818" opening; those are only 4mm (.157") so you will likely have to drill them or something. I wouldn't use them personally.

    Awesome looking sticks, Jasen!

Just a couple of questions if you have a moment.

    1. Is repainting/refinishing a Panzer either not a good idea at all or at best left to professionals? I've considered a couple of builds, especially for a potential gift, that would use a different chassis color but given they are powder coated I am guessing that there's little to no way that someone without the experience and equipment for powder coating (not to mention the expense) to get a similar level of finish.
1.5 . Out of curiosity, is your Jan 2nd Twitter post showcasing your SouthPaw-modded Panzer using the Blue Sandtex finish available currently for 3i DIY kits, or is it another shade of blue?
1.75. Do you have any plans for a January special color run? Crossing my fingers for a deep violet purple someday :)
    2. The vast majority of Panzer builds I see, including some of the example ones, offer neat cable routing. While I know that the zipties/sleeving/cablecombs are not included, but I was wondering if the wiring was pretty much (with using minor accessories like zipties) clean and accessible by "default", or is it something that takes pre-planned routing not to have a mess of cables? My experience in PC and device building is that you have to plan ahead of time for good cable routing, but I am guessing perhaps the way the stick is set up some things would be close to each other naturally and the EZ Build board might helps lower the "rats nest" potential as well
    3. Have you ever considered a USB Type-C connector option for the Panzer? One reason I ask is that I've been reading about new stick components and accessories, from the Kaimana RGB to the Paradise Magenta lever, that require a USB connection in order to program/configure. I am guessing there's no way to have room for 2x typical USB connectors much less Pro Cable XLR types in a single "Neutrik plate". I've seen some get around the issue by modding their sticks to have 2 Neutrik style connector ports but I was wondering if using something like USB TypeC would, thanks to its small size, either allow 2x USB TypeC connector's or perhaps 1x Pro Cable + 1x TypeC in a single plate? Seeing some of the PS4+Audio plates offering both USB + 3.5mm audio suggests there may be room for 2 components if the connectors are small enough. Maybe there would be some issue that I've not yet considered since I've not worked with these things day in and day out,but if it works it could be a way to enable 2 USB connections within a single plate for those interested in such a feature.

    Thanks again!

    Hey!

    1. Its best left to the pros. You need to strip/prime/repaint so that it gets done properly. There are pros out there that can do it, and its surprisingly not that expensive to do. I suppose that's relative though to location and what you consider expensive.
    2. That is the blue sandtex finish. Lighting is different in the lab than my controlled lighting setup for photos.
    3. There are a few special colors up now, a couple more coming, but nothing for a specific run in January.
    4. It absolutely is clean by default, that's why I designed in the way I did. I like to use a few zip ties to keep it nice and tight up top, but its not really required.
    5. I haven't considered USB-C connectors for a variety of reasons... mostly a cost perspective. Any new connector would require a bunch of R&D and cost and would benefit a very small subsection of the community making it a rather large risk I think. The Type C stuff is still pretty new and I am not a huge fan of PCB mounted connectors like the PS4+ version but I recognize that they are necessary evils at time. I'm not ruling it out per-se, but I have no immediate plans for it.

Honestly, until USB-C becomes completely market ubiquitous (as in nearly EVERY device...not just smartphones have it on-board), then pursuing USB-C connections for sticks really doesn’t make sense—both financially AND practically. It makes even less sense when taking into consideration that all the current sources (consoles/PCs) to which those cables will be connected utilize USB-A ports.

I hadn't checked in on Tech Talk in a couple of days and I thought I was going to be all clever and shit to suggest that you do something like this. If you do then it will be a great thing for the community because I have seen the tech/parts/help sub-forums on other fighting games board and they are...lacking.
