damn, well that's physics for you

but.....it is still a problem because you could build slave droids to kamikaze ships to obliterate fleets. This really complicates Star Wars

as do most major breakthroughs in military strategy or weaponry... aircraft carriers forever changed the landscape of naval warfare for example, a little hard to get into side by side ship to ship battles when the carriers are sending out bombers capable of destroying your whole fleet from hundreds of miles away

Outsise of some silly shots where all of the upper command of the alliance were female, what was SJWish about this movie?

They put a "thick" asian girl as an almost main character and purple hair chick

    It's 100% bullshit lol

In what universe is a 5ft 115lb Asian girl "thick". People being real liberal with the usage of "thick" these days.
    People kept calling her chubby/

Yeah I don't get it. She just has the usual Vietnamese chubby face and looked frumpy but it made sense because her character wasn't glamorous.

All I saw was it took a cis white male to save them.
Who else in a movie wrestled an evil lesbian and by forcefully kissing her, turned her not only heterosexual but good as well? Exactly. That, my friend, is the power of Sean motherfucking Connery - Valaris

Thats fine, I just don't need validation from others for my thoughts and feelings like your pussy ass clearly does.
Well what you would expect from Alpha Charlie?

    Stop.

The force always manifested itself by giving people an, at times, savant like ability at certain things. This is very evident in anakin and luke as pilots. The issue with Rey isnt the places where the force seems to enhance her, its that she got full 18s on her stat sheet sans charisma.

"Maybe she is just great at using the force so she gets to be great at evetything 'cause she always uses the force so great."

Thats fine but it makes for awful writing and a dull story. Oh guess what TLJ suffers from?

Interesting how you bring up the D&D reference, the Wizards of the Coast made Star Wars D20 makes Jedi so fucking OP.

Oh you are a non-combat build Jedi? You are automatically better than all the other Combat classes as you have the force.

Oh you are a combat build Jedi? You are better at non-combat skills than all the non-combat character builds, including the cross class and specialist classes.

Gonna dig it up later, but there was a great post on 4chan about relativistic weapons. The gist of it was that firing up an engine capable of going light speed paints a massive target on our back to the rest of the galaxy. At that point we can shoot things at light speed at other people. So if you're a species that has access to the technology then you have to decide whether you risk letting those people live or take them out to protect your safety.

You dont even need a complicated weapon either, any large enough hunk of shit flying at that speed is destroying anything in its wake. In this case you'd snatch meteors and shoot them at other planets at the speed of light and call it a day.

That had me feeling all sorts of paranoid.

i remember hearing once that if you travel near the speed of light, if your ship hits a single speck of dust in the void of space at that speed, said speck of dust will make a hole in your craft the size of a softball.
hence why traveling at a high speed in space is not plausible.

you dont build a space ship if you want to commit interstellar travel...you build a time machine.
or better said...a machine that doesnt go back in time but around time.
    remember.
    space=time/time=space
    what that means is...
you essentially separate yourself from time, therefore space.
in other words think of it like a stone skipping over water. the water symbolizing the known universe.
not truly one with the air nor one with the water. but in between.
the machine separates itself from space/time. making interstellar travel possible. like how the pebble travels.

so real space travel in the future is going to look more like the movie Contact than Star Trek.

tho you prob could travel at a very high speed but only by using a force field in front of you to protect your space craft from space dust, but you'd be expending so much more energy in creating a force field strong enough to shield your craft than you ever would in actual propulsion.

man i wish i had gone to college to study physics instead of art.

Well reading about the theoretical Alcubierre warp drive

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive

You aren't really moving pass the speed of light, or moving at all.
What the drive real does is stretches and compress space, so no worries about trying to decelerate (as you technically never moved) and no issues with time dilation for approaching the speed of light.

So if anything real FTL travel would be closer too Futurama with the whole "The engines don't move the ship at all. The ship stays where it is and the engines move the universe around it."

China drops Last Jedi from nearly all theaters? Last Jedi flop in China?

China literally didn't have star wars for decades. Pretty much the entirety of the og trilogies run didn't even screen there. The first star wars movie to have a theatrical release in China was the phantom menace.

I understand why they did it, but it didn't look as good as it was in the OT. The puppetry looked like it was a part of an after school special.

I cant sub to people who are in full support of terrible scripts, directors, and would just flat out say something THAT DUMB.

His Luke video was actually pretty awesome. I'm intrigued to see his theory on this one. To say it's a "love letter to fans" is a gross overstatement. If that was the case, then it'd honestly have been a rehash of ESB.

the good thing about the new episodes is that they at least capture the star wars feeling of the original ones.

Mostly because they were shooting on location on some Island that was so protected they couldn't even mess with the puffins that lived there and not a sound stage where they can build the whole set 3 feet off the ground so they can hide Frank Oz and any aids to Frank.

Ghost Yoda was probability shot on in front of a green screen and they photoshop him in

The only one that is legitimately fun to watch from the PT is the Duel of the Fates. Outside of Finn and Kylo Ren's encounter, all other fights since TPM just don't do anything for me.

    Minority, your opinion is.
Enjoy Duel of the Fates, people do.

    [Yoda Mode Off]

While the Dooku battles in Episode II leave a lot to be desired (as does the nerfed General Grievous vs. Obi-Wan), Any time Darth Maul was in a lightsaber duel, it was awesome!
The duels between Yoda vs. Sidious and Anakin vs. Obi-Wan were also great.

Also remembered while in the theater and the credits started to roll, some guy tried that slow clap thing to make others clap with him but it failed. I lol'd and was sad at the same time.

Me and Mark had the same reaction after watching the movie:

TLJ received no reactions from my theater. you could cut the tension with a knife. When I had got up I loudly said: "this movie was fucking boring, awful" and people around were like "yup." And a lot of people do not like this movie, it's very split. This series, imo, is in a lot of trouble

I experienced the exact opposite. I mean no one started (visibly) splooging, but the crowd enjoyed the movie. Far from the greatest thing that I have ever experienced, but felt that my money wasn't wasted. I guess this is where the split audience thing comes in.

Does anyone think the Falcon will get written out? I may actually lose it if they destroy that ship. Given my expectation for Ep IX to be ROTJ v1.53, I doubt JJ will have the gall to do something that bold.
