work stuff is getting real. I went and did my drug test today; and next week I go to have my PIV made to start on the 26th. I have decided for now to commute from my mom's house to work until the e-QIP comes back and I get cleared or turned down based on stuff. Once/If it clears; I'll move closer to work; but for now I'm gonna do my thing and have fun with this job while I have it.
So, in the time since my last post; I was offered two jobs. One locally working collections for a small agency; and the other is the government contract (preliminary background check came back clean), I took the government contract one because it pays more as a base; and I get government benefits on top of it. However; I don't start until the 26th and I'm working days 7am - 4pm during training (night shift training was until 2am; starting at 5pm but my wife works until 8pm Mon-Thurs and 6pm Fridays). Gonna get bodied every day by getting up at 4:30am and going to bed at 6pm. Whether or not I get the job permanently is gonna depend on the results on the e-QIP check the govt has to do to clear me in order to do my job. So, for the next 30 days at least starting the 26th; I do have a job.
I also have an appointment on Tuesday to look at a potential residence to move into.
Chiming in here since this is my realm of expertise.
If you buy a refurb system, double check the graphics card specs to make sure you can run stuff like Arcade Edition properly. Intel onboard graphics WILL NOT cut it, and YOU WILL have a bad time. Anything GPU-wise from the past couple of years will run any current-gen fighter at 1080p 60fps, max settings. The only problem with that right now is that if you are in the market for a GPU; due to cryptocurrency bs you're gonna pay a markup if you want it right now. Since you're in the UK, I'd recommend looking at NZXT's BLD service and seeing if their pricing would be productive to you; including shipping.
If it wasn't for TT, I wouldn't have rediscovered my love for computers and helping people with them. I also got to participate in the last Secret Santa, which is something I've always wanted to do ever since I've been a member of the site. As someone that's been around pretty much since day 1, SRK has shaped my life for the better.
So, I think I posted here that I got axed the day after Christmas from my work at home job. Things have turned around for me, as yesterday I was formally extended a offer to work in the OIT division of the US Government pending a security clearance check being done and all that. There's a couple things I'm worried about (mainly my past-due bills and some stuff that happened when I was a young adult) as far as the position goes, but if everything is well; I'll start working the first week of March in Louisiana and will be moving there shortly thereafter due to conditions of employment. Wife wants me to get a travel trailer before the timeframe on the conditions is up and post up at an RV park and commute everyday. As long as I can get internet where I'm going and not deal with the park's crappy wi-fi, I'm good.
