ok so i just got done playing sf4 at super arcade so i guess ill give u the good news and the bad news
the good news is that the game is in the US officially and its 50c per play....now for the bad news
the game is split up on 2 japanese cabinets. the one on the left has the music on way loud and u cant move left. the screen isnt HD but it still looks pretty nice.
The machine on the right has no sound and the screen isnt too great. on this machine roundhouse is not working at all
from what i understand there will be no card system for sf4 at super which is a bummer and i am going to assume that we wont be getting hd screens to play this on
So to anyone planning to play sf4 at super i would say give it a few days to make sure everything is working like it should so u can get an accurate first impression of the game
i will b heading to the arcade after work tomorrow to see if they changed the cabinets and ill post up what i find

tastes bittersweet in Walnut
Just got back. Here's the proof:
http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sf4xn8.jpg
Should have taken pictures of the machine. It slipped my mind as I shat bricks of anger. Match vids were even less likely to happen. Read on.
So here's the deal:
THE JOYSTICK ON PLAYER 1 IS BROKEN.
It doesn't move left. At all. Serious.
Yea. Anything else in this post runs second to that unfortunate fact. Most everything else in super is also somewhat broken, as it usually is. Well, except for Tekken6... which seems to never break, mysteriously.
The run down:
Two mismatched machines are currently running SF4... a standup and a sitdown machine. Both machines are configured for possible two player support, but are wired together so that player 1 is on the standup and player 2 is on the sit down.
Judging from the shitty machines (both of them have been without games on them for months if not years) and placement in a random corner, it's a temporary spot until one of the main astro-city cabinets in the center aisle can be converted over to SF4. I hope. You never quite know with super.
2 tokens (~50 cents) to play, although you'd be wasting your half-dollar on the standup. And probably most of the fun on the sit down, being without an acceptable human opponent.
edit: earlier says sitdown is somewhat busted as well. Well then, it's almost an equal match with two critically handicapped characters. Only played on the standup, did not know.

Hopefully they fix it since I'd like to go try it out. I was going to go tomorrow, guess I'll have to call them before I go in to see if it is fixed yet or not.

Wow good stuff. I'll probably start heading on there when I get some more confirmation on better working sticks. Wouldn't want to play on broken sticks for my first SF4 experience.

Somebody steal their board. They don't deserve it. I remember back when some random fucks stole MK2 out of a bowling alley. Just do the same thing.

Honestly, if they have a game with this calibur of hype and completely butcher it by putting it in 2 different styles of arcade cabs with non working controls and with non HD then fuck them. I say we boycott the arcade!!!

Anyone know how they attained the two boards without buying two of the cabinets? I thought you had to get everything at $24,000 in order to have the game...

I've been going to super arcade on and off for about 12 years, starting back when it was called western arcade. Hate to bum people out but don't hold your breath on SF4 being completely playable for any amount of time.
This arcade routinely set the damage to max on capcom games. MvC1 Spiderman air combo I remember did 50 percent. When 3s first got there ken short short shippu did 50 percent at least.
Capcom games have never gotten good controls. The last time I played a decent round of a capcom fighter there was MvC1 when it first came out, and that's cause it came in the big cabinet. After the shift to the 2nd-hand-run-down japanese cabinets nothing gets fixed. I don't think the guy who runs the place knows where to get spare parts or something.
Can't really say anything about the people who play there regularly. I kinda want to say they are good, but I think it's more accurate to say they are just more used to the horribly shitty broken controls. Kind of a sad home field advantage. When vids started appearing on the net I noticed the comp got a LITTLE better. Before sites like combovideo or zachd that place was stuck in the dark ages of marvel. I'm talking everyone had cable or blackheart on their team.
Well as someone who lives very close to this dump, I really hope the publicity give the bastard who owns the place a reason to fix all the controls.

Uh no, unless the Jewish people changed their traditions and a bar mitzvah now consists of a dude in a green cape throwing rocks at little boys.
I guess eating 20 rocks to the face does prove that you're a man. I mean after all, isn't that what a bar mitzvah is? The celebration of a boy's transition into manhood?

Does the cabinet(s) have lollipop joysticks? I'd kill a cat in cold blood for a chance to play this game with a bat stick.

that's a stupid thing to say.
Going to this arcade is the equivilent to watching, say, transformers 2 on a camcorder bootleg copy before it hits the cinema. You're only ruining the experience for yourself. I agree with the hindi SFiv is worth playing for the first time on a real cab, in HD, with working controls.

true. i was able to play sf4 on a regular cab the other day and it just dont seem the same as the highdef viewlix(sp) cabs. i think the only thing worse that an arcade not having a game you want to play is having it with broken controls. i mean how hard is it to fix these things????

very hard if all the cabinets came from some japanese arcade grave yard. One of the third strike cab was loose, so they duct taped it. The duct taped broke. That's the end of that story.
also the owner is like 100 years old.
