didnt notice old thread closed
and hyo I said the same thing in 1998 gettin paid off 2nd:I then again in 2001.
you dont have to go full blown tournament scene, but when you play just for fun
you realize the lack of stress and shit not having to worry about (loss of)cash and city rep
and all the stuff so yawn to me after 20 years playing fighting games in arcades.
I feel you tho cause NEC maybe last time I put up $$ on a fighting game match. I never was about that shit. I need to lvl up my organizing, hosting, stick/tech skills
on the real tip. i need some cabs in my crib...

Chaos, Zack, Larry and anyone else who went to the VGXPO tournaments last month at the convention center:
I had emailed their website to get an update on the prize checks, and they are stating they should be mailed out sometime in the next week or two.
HOWEVER, this guy is alleging that of the $20 tournament entry, FULLY HALF OF THAT GOES INTO THEIR POCKETS!!!!!!! Now this is in addition to the enormous entry to the event itself!! So, instead of getting $364 for the two tournaments, they want to try and pay me $182. This would be outrageous enough if we hadn't SPECIFICALLY CONFIRMED the tournament rules and terms, but this is just ridiculous.
I would encourage you to email Ed Fleming at edfleming@vgxpo.com and make your feelings known.

Wow thats silly just the pass alone was like $25+. I guess I learned my lesson about the Video Game expo tournaments.
What did you put in your email skye? Should I mention the backlash from the fighting community and how it will severely hurt their future events? Yeah there was no rules about them taking half of the entry, only thing they said was if there was not enough people for a tournament they would refund the money.

Wow! I ran a 44 man sc4 and 20 man tekken 5dr tournament for ed at last years vgxpo and apparently nobody learned from my mistake. No one got paid and I got fucked over. I made a post about it at 8wayrun.com last year. I'm suprised none of you remember it.
Anyway I am still hosting for a gathering this tuesday night if people want to come. I have a couple of people coming over at 10pm and a couple coming over before that. If anyone wants my cell and address pm me.

Wow. That is absolute bullshit. I'm never entering another VGXPO tourney, unless it's free.
As if that tournament wasn't f'ed up enough. Lesson learned and duly noted, angry e-mail pending, spreading the word next time.

When some of my friends asked me to go this tournament, I SAID I wouldn't enter the shit like this cuz I knew this gonna happen
don't go to a tournament if you don't know who the hell is running it
from the first look that they were running the shit over 3days... and each day you had to pay for entrance, I just noticed that event would be fail for sure
The only interest that gexpo had was the money in your wallet!!! They wouldn't even care about the placers nor prizes etc...
You guys remember the gdlike result of SJ3?
What did B.Eric and Hubbs did there??
They ran shit fucking smoothly and efficiently and the results, payouts were done extremly well
plus if they couldn't handle anything, they asked people for help and got those things done in time
That's why yall have to stick to someone who knows what to do and how to do
P.S. these kind of crap tournaments were the reason I started my own tournaments btw lol cuz I can't stand this kind of B.S

Yeah, I guess we should have seen this coming. Oh well
Chaos: This is my last email to him
<No, this is incorrect.
My friends and I confirmed with absolutely everyone there running the event, both before and after, that 100% of the entry fees went to the prize pool. The explanation given was that because there were entry fees for the convention itself, the entire tournament entry would be paid out -- which made perfect sense both then and now.
If this is the way Lunar Tide has been running their tournaments for the past 3 years, shouldn't this information be available anywhere? Or made known to anyone other than yourself? Honestly, if I had any idea how shady and poorly run these tournaments would have been, I would not have bothered.
In any event, regardless of what your imagined policy was, you need to make this right. The internet gives dissatisfied customers a big mouth, and I suspect that the $182 you are attempting to withhold is not worth the hassle.
Let me know,
Skye Thomsen>

You're exactly correct, and plus there's much more that goes into play. Just that in life you have to know when you need to focus on other priorities and not get caught up in things that will distract you or waste your time sort of speak. I had a shit load of fun and enjoyed the experiences, so I don't regret nothing ya feel me.
But yea, I guess that wasn't my last post because I need to post here to see if anyone wants to buy my dual modded TE stick. Works for PS3 and xbox 360 as you all know by now. I am charging $200 for it, so if anyone is interested please let me know. I won't have any use for it anymore, and you guys could use it for SSF4 when it comes out. I'm not even entering anything anymore at NEC, but I will be there to watch and enjoy.
So if any1 is interested, then just let me know and we can set it up.
Thank You
