Ichigo goes Super Vaizard and kills Aizen, King turns out to be Aizens dad and rebuilds him using Arrancar technology, making him a Shinigancar
Aizen attacks kara town and is defeated by Chad, who has fused with his Grandpas hollow, Ishida finds out there's a community of his peoples living in hell mexico but they still suck
Oh, and Renji still jobs every fight

I don't think Yama started the 13 Squads, he just started a school for the 13 Squads and those two were his first students. I'm guessing that Shinigami were chosen some other way and were not formally trained as they are now. At least thats what I though, could be wrong though

The arc won't end with Aizen defeat, its mostly about Hollows: Espada vs Vaizards.
For the most part the arc is almost done. This could very well be the last role Hollows have in the series. Soon to be more obsolete than Rengji.
I think Aizen will play the Alice in the rabbit hole role...dragging the story with him into the next era/arc. I wouldn't be surprised if the kings court is another tier layer of captains/bosses to defeat. And for some reason the King probably has a child. And who better to be that child than a poor hustler like Kenpachi.

What if The King is the real end boss, an evil dictator named Hitler-sama and Aizen is just Tom Cruise in Valkyrie trying to overthrow him? The King's court oversees SS, BUT the term SS doesn't only stand for Soul Society! OMG Shinigami are the real villains!

Starrk will absorb whats left of halibel and become uber strong...and will pop up again in a future arc. This is not the end of the Espada, merely the end of their function in this arc - its why they haven't all gotten flashbacks...

Alternately, you can just re-read one of the latest chapters to imagine the coming chapter: the pacing is the same just as if nothing had happened.
