sense it makes me think metro city, and there is talk of FF characters, I'm hoping they work in one of them.

I expect Guy before the others but hope to see Rolento, Hugo, or Haggar before an even more likely Cody or... Poison.

note: I'm hoping for Haggar solely because I want to see a revamped Shadow/Charlie... both unlikely

Well it looks like a Haggar statue in the background holding up a Championship belt. Cody and Guy have been rumored to be in.

It could be just Manhattan instead since that's where Haggar hailed from during his Muscle Bomber days. If he had won, it's only fitting that a tribute be where his first native place is.

I just figure Metro City and Manhattan / New York City co-exist side by side in Street Figther / Final Fight land. The same way Manhattan and Gotham City co-exist in DC comics.

Metro City's pretty much Staten Island, so they pretty much are side-by-side yeah.

Well, I posted a comment to CJ's SSF4 blog letting them know about the typo with Hawk's bust size, which carried over from AAC/AASF. Let's see if they'll catch it and edit.

Yeah well, the extra heat in SF's state of New York is to blame for the ceaseless crime over there I suppose.

I wouldn't mind it but I don't think Capcom USA or Capcom of Japan likes Streetwise.

Capcom's funny though. They kept Devil May Cry 2 in continuity, just made it so it no longer happened a year after DMC1 but 'far into the future.' COJ doesn't like that game, neither do most fans and yet it's still not erased out of existence.

Don't know if Final Fight Revenge still occurs. It doesn't come up during Streetwise (well, neither does 2 or 3). Cody can still go to jail for reasons provided in SFZ3 so FFR isn't needed. I'd say Zombie Belger automatically says "NO" but Streetwise had nothing but Zombies... It's like Capcom USA wanted to make a Resident Evil game...

The only games I can truly recall them erasing in a permanent way is possibly Resident Evil Gaiden on the Gameboy (I suppose because it wasn't popular, even though Shinji Mikami himself worked on it - of course 'Gaiden' can mean side story that's never meant to be part of a saga anyeay) and Strider Returns because they didn't even make that game, erased when Capcom made Strider 2. Capcom does tend to keep games in place, even if they move timelines around and retcon certain aspects.

Commando / Bionic Commando is probably the most recent example of a shifiting timeline. The kept all of the game series occuring, just put everything far into the future instead of the 80s/90s. They haven't said if Speed Rumbler is part of that new continuity though since that's the other Super Joe game, but the rest still happen in this order - Commando 1, Commando 2 (Joe Gibson now confirmed to be Super Joe), Arcade Bionic Commando with Super Joe, Bionic Commando Rearmed with Rad Spencer (replaces NES Bionic Commando) and then the 3D Bionic Commando game. Commando 3 has no returning characters so when it happens almost doesn't matter. Aaaand I've gone off on a tangent again...

FFR no. Ono-san spoke for CJ that Poison's never had a sex change, thus they've never accepted Poison's other sexual orientation possibilities. That plus Zombie Belger plus CUSA designing the game back then put the final nails in FFR's coffin. Are there actually zombies in Streetwise though? Or just GLOW Heads?

The Poison thing I never had a problem with in FFR because sex change or not she could still like Cody. Yes you are right that COJ has never acknowledged that aspect of Poison though, if he/she could like a man. Yeah, some of those images that happen during Poison's Kiss Super Art might be difficult without the sex change but there's always tucking between your legs and tight underwear so...

The Zombie Belger ordeal was always the most difficult thing for me to swallow. He can throw his head at you, it can blow up and he can regrow a new head! I don't know how many zombie laws are broken right there, how can you regrow a new brain? I mean, Akiman just drew regular Belger for his portrait, he didn't even draw zombie Belger! What character in any fighter doesn't reflect his portrait at all? Crazy crazy Capcom USA...

I do find it funny because online and even in real life I've met a few Capcom fans who believe they have some kind of 'secret knowledge' for the reason why Cody went to jail from Final Fight Revenge. Even though all you need to know is in SFA/Z 3. It's not even that they particularly like FFR, maybe they want to justify their purchase, I dunno. It's bizarre though. When it comes up I usually say "Yeah but Zombie Belger? C'MON..."

At least everyone automatically tosses out Mighty Final Fight. Probably has more to do with Chibi characters than Cyborg Belger...

On Capcom USA's site they have poked fun at Final Fight Streetwise quite a few times in Blog entries and posts over the years. This is after Team Eight went the way of the dinosaur and all. It will be really random for me to find examples, and sometimes jokes are just jokes that don't mean much. I have gotten the impression that Sven and co. don't care for it over the years. Not that it particularly means it will get erased, of course.

Capcom USA still has the license for Final Fight though, but again Capcom rarely erases entire games from not happening at all AFAIK. If they make another FF game it will probably take place before Streetwise.

In theory they can always put something in SSF4 that removes it. All it would take is Cody saying "What are you talking about? I don't have a little brother." and that would be it.

-I never played Street Wise, but from some of the things I read, it just all didn't sit right with me.

-I'm liking the look of that new stage, hopefully we'll see some more reveals soon. :)

well unless character is bio mechaincal machine like Cell were each and every one of you cells act like nanobots or magical like Buu then they proabley can't.
