The last issue of Famitsu revealed the name of the next 2D fighting game by Arc System : BlazBlue. It's supposed to succeed to the GG series, the story takes place in the same universe ten years after XX. It will come out on the Taito Type X2 board and will be shown at AOU show in february.

i actually had a feeling accent core was gonna be the last 2d gg game (although this news doesn't necessarily verify that)

But whatever, like I said in my post, this game looks good. Though I am bit worried about the fact that they haven't even finished BASARA X yet, and yet they go ahead and announce this...

I guess the only thing that worries me is the choice of arcade hardware. Last time ASW fooled around with the TX2 (Battle Fantasia) it didn't do all that well for them. I doubt such a thing will be an issue this time, but still...

Then there's the other thing...will it be truly HD, or will they just utilize the hardware to hopefully make for a better presentation overall (more frames of animation please!)? Given how they're still working on a game that's PS2-level tech (SBX), I couldn't exactly fathom them trying to break into the the 360/PS3 market but so quickly, on the shoulders of a 2D game...

This looks hype. Noeru (Noel) and Raguna (Laguna) I would assume their names are, look like great character designs that I am totally digging.

I suppose they are nice...even if they are basically in the same mold as standard Guilty Gear designs. I mean "Laguna the Broadsword" and "Jin Kisaragi" could basically have been Sol and Ky's long lost cousins. So they definitely missed the mark if they trying to go for a different art style...

But, ah well. Hopefully we'll get more info about this game soon.

i think they are intentionally going for the sol/ky resemblance... also, his name is "laguna the blood-egde"

i don't really mind the designs, since i personally think any character design daisuke ishiwatari comes up with looks better than those by any other fighting game developers' at the moment

I dunno...considering that Battle Fantasia was quite a different art style for them, I thought it meant that ASW was open to more beyond the "anime/manga" style that GG embodies, and HnK and BASARA just re-enforce.

But, ah well. Small potatoes, if it means we get a new 2D fighter...and even better that it's not entirely loli-centric, proving that ASW hasn't caved in to the supposed "trend".

Romanized, the kana spells out "Raguna Za Buraadoeggi"

If they wanted "Blood Edge", they would have used "Buradoeggi". But as you can see, they stretched out the "aa" sound out, so to me, it says "Broadedge" (which makes more sense any way).

looks good that third pic looks exactly like HOS with white hair though. same sword and everything. not a bad thing, but i hope they put in some really interesting and unique characters. definitely gonna keep my eye on this one.
