July 4th-6th SFIV loketest thread: Nagoya

It's less than 48 hours away now, so I figured it's time to do a headcount on who's going. This will also be where any notable info will be posted at the time of the loketest.

Please, no speculation on what this loketest will have (new characters, etc.). I would assume that this loketest will be like last week's loketest in Ikebukuro; not a finalized version but no new surprises, limited to a set amount of wins, and probably no endings or storylines revealed. This will probably be a straight-up gameplay test just like the previous tests were.

If there IS added stuff in this loketest, of course I will post details. However, judging from other loketests I've been to, it's highly unlikely. The only thing I would think is possible is possibly seeing some alternate costumes for the characters, but I would honestly say that's a 50-50 chance.

I will be there all 3 days of the loketest, and will likely be there late afternoon on Friday.

Well, this thread has gotten off to a fantastic start. sigh.

Kunai, make note to see if a Saving Attack can absorb a special move where the attacker leaves their feet. I think for stuff like Blanka's roll and Honda's headbutt you can't absorb that with a saving attack, but that's just my theory...

I take it you're not going?

Yeah, I'll check for you. However, I do remember clearly that I did saving attack against a jumping opponent, and I absorbed the hit like normal. It could be the special moves that completely leave the ground that are immune to Saving Attack absorption (not like a shoryuken). It could also be a timing issue, hitting the person performing a Saving Attack very early.

My friend plays Honda quite a bit, and we will be there Friday... so if it's dead, we will try out this suggestion.

I may go. I'm not entirely sure yet. If I do, it would be Saturday only.

Actually, unless they've changed it since the Osaka lokes, you can. I was using SA against a headbutt-happy Honda. I remember this match because he just kept headbutting and I just kept using the SA...and then I noticed we were BOTH low on energy! Him from eating my SA counter attacks and me from essentially eating multiple headbutts over and over.

Um...if any of you could construct a tier list that would be pretty sweet. I'm curious how the characters stack up against one another.

Any info on Dictator would be greatly appreciated by me as well. Is he close his ST incarnation? Is the slide still very unsafe on block? Does the teleport have good or poor recovery?

Thanks again guys for any news you provide, for those of us who live on the other side of the world.

Kick some ass and have fun

I think I already made my tier list during the 7th loketest. Of course, I don't want anyone thinking it's the word of God or anything... it's just opinions from a limited amount of time with the game. Do a quick search on the SF4 forum and you'll see the tier list.

This particular loketest and the last loketest (Ikebukuro) has lots of info on Dictator. Check those threads to see how Dictator is at this point... and quite honestly, I don't see him changing much from now until the final version in 2 weeks.

Azrael: If you decide to go, that would be awesome. I will definitely look for you. Text me on my cell to let me know what your plans are on Saturday.

To be honest I can't wait for all the alt. costumes, it'll be really fun to see them.

I've got a friend going to japan tomorrow, so maybe he'll be able to hit this up.

Best of luck to SRK Japan, You Da Best!

What happens when you SA a headbutt? Does Honda drop to his feet as if it hit normally, and if so how easy or difficult is it to counter with a charged SA (or dash cancel into a combo of some sort)? I'm sure the headbutt isn't safe by any means, but I have kind of a hard time picturing how it plays out. And what about Blanka? If he bounces off further I guess he'd be safer than Honda.

I bet this loktest was so awesome team SRK japan was left speechless. That or they've still got some playtime left

I'm still wondering about Abel's AA command grab, how much rang/priority does it have?

In all honesty, Abel is shaping up to be one of my fave newcomers (behind viper). He sounds like he plays like a cross between Sean and Alex, two of my fave 3S chars.

I also want to know more about the alternate costumes, specially Guile's alternate costume. BTW anybody knows how many alternate costumes has every character and how many costume colors are in the shop for every character's costume?

Yes, I will be meeting this girl in less than 3 hours.

I couldn't post because the internet at this hotel was really intolerable the first two days I was here. Seems great today.

They had a lot of those new IV wall posters at the loketest... probably around 15 for each version. I wanted one SOOOOOOOOO bad.

Loketest offered nothing new. Gameplay seemed mostly the same, but I did notice that Viper's standing forward kick up close actually DOES NOT REGISTER A HIT half the time against opponents. Of course, this kick can be used to buffer into a superjump when it hits, but literally you can be right next to them, do this move, and it will completely whiff. I don't know if this is another nerf of hers, but definitely annoying. I wish I could notify Capcom somehow, but there is no surveys at the loketest site this time around. This was not a problem in Sugamo's loketest 4 weeks ago.

A move that makes Viper's Ultra whiff... Guile's sobat kick. I saw someone do this, and did Ultra well within range... no dice. LAME

I did discover that her air flame kick game is quite interesting. If you do the flame kick in the air with short kick, she will drop straight down. Imagine if you wanted to play a tricky crossup game with her... and you jump towards someone. If you time it right, and do the flame kick right above their heads, you can really confuse people because sometimes it will cross up, sometimes it won't. Really nasty guessing games. Combine this with her 2-in-1 jump-in roundhouse to short or roundhouse flame kick (will hit in front with short, will cross up with roundhouse), and you got a pretty nasty jump-in attack game with Viper.

You have to really work hard, but yeah, you can win with Viper. As long as you dictate the pace of the game. You simply cannot turtle with her, nor can you let the opponent dictate the tempo. You have to make every effort to confuse the opponent, and Viper can do that with her broad range of attacks.

Yesterday, they set a 5-game limit. The day before (first day), there was no limit. Someone played Blanka and had a 59 game win streak with him. He is a load to deal with, but yesterday, this same guy had major problems playing other folk and didn't even get a 5-game win streak before he left. Azrael was one of those people giving him trouble.

Yes, Blanka is really hard to beat. His Blanka Ball is very safe against most people, especially when blocked, EX Ball goes through regular fireballs, and his Ball variant where he bounces back, then forward (especially EX version) is hard to block. Really solid character.

Boxer is also a load to play against. He doesn't have much recovery with his rush punches anymore. Nobody did what forgenjuro reported last week (rush punch to super), but if they knew... yeah it would have been nasty.

Sagat is great, but only as a defensive player. That tiger uppercut goes through many things. Easy knockdowns with him that have very short recovery times, by doing jump-in attack, crouching short into jab tiger uppercut. Also, watch out for people who do a tiger knee, then tiger uppercut immediately after. The uppercut will tag you if you try to counter.

I cannot play today because my friend is broke... sorry. Nothing really new, however, and you cannot buy alternate outfits as of yet. Last loketest's stats from Ikebukuro last week have been saved, though... so I am saving all my zenny for future outfits that may be available.

Anyway, it's been fun. Just another 2 weeks, and we will be playing this for real. I will probably try to go to Osaka and visit Team SRK Osaka there on opening weekend.

Thank you Kunai, for the great update, and congrats on the date!! :)
hey got a question for you:
I heard Claw got one of his moves from Capcom VS SNK. Can please confirm this?

    Thanks Kunai

    How is team SRK doing?

How is our single crimson alliance representative doing as well?

I hope both answers are "amazing".

Well the charge supers you can do as a single motion after you do a regular charge move. Such as for Boxer you can do dash punch, then press back then forward plus punch and you get the super cancel.

Im hoping that theres a way to increase the time allowed from the regular move to the super. Such as holding forward. Can somebody try that out for me? Would be best for Dictator since his scissor kicks are two hits and would be great if you can cancel after the second hit, as I could only get it to cancel on the first.
