Yes, I will be meeting this girl in less than 3 hours.
I couldn't post because the internet at this hotel was really intolerable the first two days I was here. Seems great today.
They had a lot of those new IV wall posters at the loketest... probably around 15 for each version. I wanted one SOOOOOOOOO bad.
Loketest offered nothing new. Gameplay seemed mostly the same, but I did notice that Viper's standing forward kick up close actually DOES NOT REGISTER A HIT half the time against opponents. Of course, this kick can be used to buffer into a superjump when it hits, but literally you can be right next to them, do this move, and it will completely whiff. I don't know if this is another nerf of hers, but definitely annoying. I wish I could notify Capcom somehow, but there is no surveys at the loketest site this time around. This was not a problem in Sugamo's loketest 4 weeks ago.
A move that makes Viper's Ultra whiff... Guile's sobat kick. I saw someone do this, and did Ultra well within range... no dice. LAME
I did discover that her air flame kick game is quite interesting. If you do the flame kick in the air with short kick, she will drop straight down. Imagine if you wanted to play a tricky crossup game with her... and you jump towards someone. If you time it right, and do the flame kick right above their heads, you can really confuse people because sometimes it will cross up, sometimes it won't. Really nasty guessing games. Combine this with her 2-in-1 jump-in roundhouse to short or roundhouse flame kick (will hit in front with short, will cross up with roundhouse), and you got a pretty nasty jump-in attack game with Viper.
You have to really work hard, but yeah, you can win with Viper. As long as you dictate the pace of the game. You simply cannot turtle with her, nor can you let the opponent dictate the tempo. You have to make every effort to confuse the opponent, and Viper can do that with her broad range of attacks.
Yesterday, they set a 5-game limit. The day before (first day), there was no limit. Someone played Blanka and had a 59 game win streak with him. He is a load to deal with, but yesterday, this same guy had major problems playing other folk and didn't even get a 5-game win streak before he left. Azrael was one of those people giving him trouble.
Yes, Blanka is really hard to beat. His Blanka Ball is very safe against most people, especially when blocked, EX Ball goes through regular fireballs, and his Ball variant where he bounces back, then forward (especially EX version) is hard to block. Really solid character.
Boxer is also a load to play against. He doesn't have much recovery with his rush punches anymore. Nobody did what forgenjuro reported last week (rush punch to super), but if they knew... yeah it would have been nasty.
Sagat is great, but only as a defensive player. That tiger uppercut goes through many things. Easy knockdowns with him that have very short recovery times, by doing jump-in attack, crouching short into jab tiger uppercut. Also, watch out for people who do a tiger knee, then tiger uppercut immediately after. The uppercut will tag you if you try to counter.
I cannot play today because my friend is broke... sorry. Nothing really new, however, and you cannot buy alternate outfits as of yet. Last loketest's stats from Ikebukuro last week have been saved, though... so I am saving all my zenny for future outfits that may be available.
Anyway, it's been fun. Just another 2 weeks, and we will be playing this for real. I will probably try to go to Osaka and visit Team SRK Osaka there on opening weekend.
