Ps3 2.6 update + sumoto converter
i updated my 60 gig ps3 to the 2.7 and now when i turn the switch on the sumoto to joypad from guitar my shit freezes. When i use guitar mode everything works kinda, all the button mapping is switched but nothing is effected but switched to joypad ps3 instantly freezes. I ran the converter through my comp and checks out fine.

Just updated my 40 GB PS3 to 2.7 firmware... it freezes whenever I connect my TAC adapter (on GP and GH mode). It's functional when it's on RB mode but all the buttons are mixed up.
Does anyone have a solution or have any adapter recommendations that are functional with the 2.7 firmware? Thanks a bunch.

Yes it freezed with my tac adapter, I don't know what to do know. I guess we must organize and contact Sony. BTW, it only freezes with adapters.

I can confirm the same thing. Just updated to 2.7 and the sumoto only works in guitar mode but buttons are mapped incorrectly although the led lights actually turns on now. Joypad mode causes the ps3 to freeze.
Will have to wait for a 2.71 fix from Sony.

I made a whole new topic dedicated to this issue, its more than one adapter that causes the system to freeze. Please support me by contacting Sony I expect a fix firmware to be released sometime between the next 2 weeks.

Gawdamn SONY F*CKING 2.70 messed me up big time. I only have Sumotos PS2 to PS3 adapters and now I can't use my custom sticks to play any game. It f*cking bricked my PS3 because I had it connected while updating, I had to use the PS3 safe mode to reformat my PS3 and lost all my shit in the process including ALL MY SAVED DATA FOR ALL GAMES.
WARNING TO EVERYONE, when updating DISCONNECT ALL F*CKING CONTROLLERS and ADAPTERS, otherwise you never know when a new FIRMWARE WILL F*CKING BRICK YOUR PS3.
EDITED FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION AND EXACT SCENARIO:
I have SUMOTO PS2 to PS3 adapter connected to my custom stick. Another thread detailing 2.70 Firmware will INSTANT FREEZE the system as soon as any of those adapters are connected. I had my adapter connected while updating my PS3, thus BRICKING MY SYSTEM.

Wow thanks for the heads up guys about the TAC and Sumoto adaptors freezing up with the firmware update. Lucky my friend is at my house right now since he has the TAC and almost went home to update his PS3.
I hope there's some way we, as a community, can try to get around this and back to our games!
On a side note, I found that my REAL adaptor seems to be working fine. I wonder if we can confirm other readily available adaptors work. I would hate to see that my friends and you guys are left out of gaming for a while over this.

don't you guys think they did this for a reason so you don't use the adapters. times are tough right now in the economy and by doing this you have to go out and spend money on a PS3 stick. Just a thought. hopefully sony wouldn't stoop that low.

Anyone test it with an inPin and/or HAIS adapter?
OP should also fix the title for accuracy.

But why freeze/break our PS3s? thats "cold". I guess they want us to pay $150 for a repair. More broken PS3s=more jobs for a technician also.
Edit:What a good way to stimulate the economy!

I can confirm that InPin works fine while connected during 2.70 firmware update. Tested after update was complete on HDR and SFIV. No problems at all.
