So just because they lose to US people that's grounds for them not deserving to go? How the fuck is the community supposed to grow and get better anywhere with this kind of thought? Go fubar and Jonlo but Fuck team EUSA. I hope they get raped Hentai style over there. If they can't compete in their own country they dont deserve to leave it. Not fly to another country and take that country's chance.

Yeah but look at it this way; at least Denjin regulars got to play Daigo and Kindevu without having to step foot in Japan.

Haven't a few Denjin regulars already been to (earned in their own country) their way to Japan multiple times in other games anyway?

    It's called

    STEP YOUR GAME UP!

..or wait until next year when you guys change the rules.

Besides, blame the SBO Committee for this; we had to deal with shit like this last year in the PlanetZero GG SBO qualifier where a member of the winning team was kicked out for some PlanetZero lackey. After whining and bitching about it, this year SBO told them that the entire winning team has to go, and unless something shady happens again, the entire winning team will be going.

Then why couldn't Marn and Justin "step their game up" for THAT instead? They could afford a ticket to Europe I'm sure they could afford it to Cali AND had a month to practice.

Interesting point. However, I think it would be better to send a few denjin regulars over to Japan, where they can play loads of Japanese pros rather than two, and then bring the stuff they learn back home to improve their community.

When Poongko, for instance, came down for the international championships, he hung out with the best players from So Cal, talked about how he would love to go to Evo, and talked about how he wants to gain knowledge abroad and bring it back to Korea to improve their game.

If Justin and Marn flew to Japan and qualified over there, would people be complaining? I don't think so.

Just like in Japan, just because your not from that area doesn't mean you cannot qualify there.

anybody got results for the showdown championships where Fubar/Jonlo won the SBO quals?

Did Justin and Marn attend that as well?
Bring Marvel back to Evo. Fuck "Mahvel", it's MARVEL! And fuck commentary too. Shit is gay like SF4. Bring back Bryheem, PLZ! Fuck Potter, Fuck Yipes, Fuck Matrix, Fuck the Law, Philly all day!

I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread that Justin and Marn lost in the semi finals.

Probably because, no offense, they'll lose. That and there's like 20+ quals in Japan, not one.

Uh, FFA players (who are now Denjin regulars) have been doing that shit for years for the area's 3rd Strike scene...

The team was Justin/IloveuJoe, and they lost to Jan's Gief (a REALLY good Gief, btw) a couple of matches before the finals. Not to mention it was single game, single elim, so yeah.

20+? Try 100+, counting the numerous preliminary qualifiers as well (i.e. 4 preliminary tourneys, with all 4 winning teams battling it out round-robin style in the block finals just for that one spot to SBO. Now repeat that for the other 30+ qualifiers...).

Besides, an American has already qualified for SBO in Japan. Props to HeartNana for being the first to do so.

Justin went with LI Joe and they got taken out by Crow and Jan in the semis. Fubarduck and Jonlo took out Crow and Jan in the grand finals.

Neato. I was just throwing out a random example. As far as I know, their aren't a whole lot of European players that go to Japan and improve the SF4 scene, so I figured it would have been helpful.

Ok let me just say some stuff to clarify anything.

John Choi went to France to compete in that cvs2 tourney, so he asked me to come along with him for the tournament. I checked the tournament and what it had to offer and saw that they had sbo quals and all these types of singles game and team games. I then ask the organizer is it possible for me to compete in their thing, they said fine no problem. So now me and marn goes and qualifies and rep the US as much as possible but people are still entitled to their opinion if they dont like the fact that we qualed under as euro spots and their are people saying good shit.

But anyways, one of the statement saying if we qualified in japan, it would've been ok. But a smart ass said we can't... Here is a history lesson about SBO history. The first time I tried to qual for SBO 3s I was teamed up with John Gordon and I lost to Pyrolee team. Good stuff. But I qualed for Capcom fighting jam to go to SBO. I go to SBO and I entered the last chance qualifier with Ricky Ortiz in 3s. We made it to the finals against Issei who got 2nd in evo2k6 and I (Justin Wong) beat him in 3s to qualify in the main tournament for 3rd Strike. Soo that statement is out of the window.

Me going to Europe wasn't my plan entirely. I was asked to come and I asked if I can do such and such and everyone said ok sure not a problem. If Europe's organizer did have a problem, they could've said "NO" But everyone was very welcoming and helped us with everything.

So I thank the stunfest staff for accommodating us and to everyone who loves to hate on me and marn. If you ain't being hated on, then your a nobody. I'm glad to know that we are a somebody. And to everyone who aint hating on me, thanks for everyone's support.

And I guess to all the people who said I would lose at Denjin. It's possible to lose but its not impossible for me to win, so it aint my fault that some of your heroes in cali got fucked up at ECT

HOLD THAT L on your CHEST because EC is rocking your WC shit in SF4!!!!

Dr. Chaos proved what east coast was about, and Mike Ross proved that his Honda is the best. But, EC is still strong. Can't wait for EVO. Congrats Wong and Marn. Props to gootecks and ross for coming out and showing who they are.

    LOL

    Good shit marn and Justin.

I see you dropped that Abel bullshit for SBO.....

As for the general discussion. France wasn't rocking their Under Armor (Under Armour?). It's up to them to protect that house! If they couldn't handle SBO level competition, then why do they deserve a spot? The spots are spread out to give players a chance to compete for a spot. Not to guarantee that somebody from that particular location gets to go. The French had a chance. That's all that is necessarily meant to happen, when they are given a spot. It's not a spot reserved for a French citizen...

I could take the same argument and say Justin shouldn't be able to qualify at Denjin because he's not from Cali. That's bullshit.

If you can get to the tournament, you can win the tournament. Especially SBO. Everyone is complaining because they think Justin/marn took the easy way out and went to a "free" qualifier.

    Here's the real question:

If the qualifier is free.... why do they deserve a spot?

This works out. Now the US can have 3 teams represent, all of which, presumably better than the French. SBO is about TOP competition, not kinda-topish competition based on location.

That's a narrow view of it. There are probably dozens of potential teams that can body anyone who qualifies from outside of Asia in pretty much any game. We can only speculate on why there are international SBO spots, but all I've ever heard from the big boys who have gone to Japan SBO time is there are tons of players who could qualify for free if they flew over here. Whether or not qualifying in another country is right or wrong is up for debate, but its obviously not against the rules. The point I'm trying to make is it's pretty unlikely the decision to give Europe or the US a spot is based purely on skill level. If you want to imply Europe doesn't deserve a spot, America probably doesn't either.

I'm not saying Europe doesn't deserve a spot, and America does.

I'm saying Europe's qualifier allows Europe to have a chance at a spot, just like ours do. This allows the Europeans the opportunity to compete for a spot in SBO. That's all SBO qualifiers are for. They're not meant to guarantee somebody from that particular part of the world gets to SBO... it just gives them that chance.

If somebody were to come to Denjin next month, from Japan, and ransack that whole shit.... more power to them. Obviously, nobody American at Denjin would have deserved that spot.

Correct me if im wrong, but when hayao and pino went to stunfest last year they werenīt allowed to sign in tougeki qualifiers, why to change this year? This was unfair and messed up, doesnīt matter how much you defend it.

Trust me, the only real reason they get their free qualifier is because the staff was scared to say "no" to usa players and they could decide to not go to stunfest, a lot of people go there just because they hear top players will be there. Letīs see how it works for them next year when nobody signs for tougeki qualifier only because random players from usa go there for their easy mode spot ;)
