Official Japanese SF4 Blog (updated 8/28)

    Latest info :
    http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost...&postcount=274

Bored at work,so here it goes, straight from capcom japan's sf4 blog:

    - Someone requested being able to rotate the camera while replaying matches. Capcom say's they will think about it.

    - I don't have the game so maybe this gets mentioned in gouken's ending or something, but supposedly, he has a 12 year old daughter, that "probably is as strong as ryu,ken or gouki" and "maybe can do a one handed hadouken like his father can". I say stop adding shotos please

    - It's confirmed that PC players can't fight XBOX players

    - They mention that they could add Rolento (?!) if there's enough demand

    - They will talk about the stages in a future post, and why each char doesn't have his/her own stage

    - PC online play is free. We already knew this I think.

    - One of the producers supposedly is a Tekken fan too. He plays with hwarang and...peku? Sorry not familiar with Tekken. He says he even started practicing taekwondo to emulate his chars, and dreamed of traveling to Korea.

    - They are thinking about doing a SF4 related survey in the future. I think Capcom did something like this in the Alpha era

    - Disconnect ratio is not for punishing bad losers,Capcom says. Only to show connection problems.

    - A SF4 "2nd version" is practically confirmed in this post.

    - Special intros (Gouken vs Ryu,etc) will probably be added in the next update/next
    version

    - They are thinking about adding what japanese playes call "diagram", the tier chart with the win/lose ratios for each matchup. They say they had working while they were developing the game and used it to improve balance. (in b4 Sagat comments)

    - PC version wallpapers will be released soon

    - PS3/XBoX360 differences in the update that was recently released are due to hardware limitations

    - PC version gets the same sound options as consoles. No jap voice with eng subtitles for example.

    - The language selected when you install the game on your PC will determine if Bison(dictator) is "Bison" or "Vega". You can't change this afterwards.

    - They make a shameless plug for the Hori 360 stick, although they themselves say that it's hard to find. (like TE stick I guess)

    - PC version minimun resolution is 640x480, recommended is 1280x720

    - They say a lot of people are asking to be able to choose any song in the game with any stage. Capcom says a lot of effort went into selecting the proper song for each stage, but they will think of adding something similar to the game.

I omitted a few questions here and there, kept the most relevant.

Since this is from Cap-Japan's blog can we even assume that they will survey the NA and EU players? Or was that meant to be taken as a given?

And +1 demand for Rolento from me.

    YES!
I requested on the capcom unity forum being able to move the camera around and.. ahem.. save pictures... (I know what your thinking and it has nothing to do with Sakura!)
Nice to know other people requested it too and it was heard.

    Fuck a second game.

    Patch this one.

    *facepalm*

I'm not learning ANOTHER street fighter title for two years minimum.
Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe. He said he hadn't eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy. Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating. The first thing the man said was, "We can share it."

Gouken isn't really a shoto, he has his own separate interesting play style, and so do all of the other new to SF4 characters, so I'm confidant that would actually be cool.

Uh, weird, not my next choice.

Not surprising, good I guess. I certainly wasn't expecting a patch.

Again not surprising, but nice anyway.

Gouken IS a shoto by any standard definition of the term.

Just because his SRK isn't a vertical attack, doesn't mean he is not a shoto.

He has a fireball, a tatsu kick, and all the standard shoto inputs = shoto.

His super and ultra are SRKs.

Plus, story wise, he was Ryu's teacher.

    Gouken = shoto.

    EVERY CHARACTER IS A SHOTO

But really, Gouken is definitely a shoto, fireballs + shoto-esque normals + shoryuken + tatsu, if it walks and sounds like a duck..
That doesn't mean he doesn't have his own playstyle though, as he definitely does (just like Ken focuses more on close up damage).

I still think its dumb that they're so worried about timelines that they won't add any 3s characters. I'm not asking for a lot, just Makoto.

It will be interesting to see what they do with SF4 2nd Impact or whatever they decide to call it. I'd really, really like it if they just didn't bother putting unlockable characters and had everyone in there from the start, but maybe that's just me.

Can we get some evil sakura up in this SFIV2? I need Raging Schoolgirl in my life.

Ibuki from SF3 would be nice also..

Wtf,second game already? Let me,at least, get the first one, greedy bastards.

Camera control during replays? WTF? Capcom's #1 priority when it comes to the replay system should be the ability to save your own replays(from any match) to the HDD regardless of which console you're on.

Now that would be a very cool thing to be able to do. It could make watching replays really worthwhile to watch now.

Back in the SF2 and even 3S days, games could not be patched.

Now with modern consoles, its actually very reasonable to patch games, as evidenced by the CE mode patch already issued for SF4.

There was no choice back in the day....now game studios have the option to enhance games without needing to release a formal sequel.

    Examples: SF4, GTAIV, Fallout3, GOW2, Halo3, L4D, etc.....

My point is that now that studios have the option to patch and enhance via DLC, adding a few characters and charging another $60 is an unreasonable option in my opinion, especially when it will only further fracture the online player base for each game.

It can be tough to find lag free matches in CE mode G2 as it is....if they release another version of SF4 for both consoles, they just drastically reduced the player base for BOTH SF4 and whatever they release as a sequel.

That is why I'm hoping they will patch SF4 a few times, and then set their sights on SF5 in a few years.

There is no financial incentive for releasing a patch. It's more work for everyone and costs money to submit and deploy, and a patch for SF4 would probably not generate too many new game sales.

Beer: It's what's for right fucking now.

Yeah, that is a valid point.

Do you suppose that a $$$ DLC would be an acceptable choice?

They could update the game with the content and only unlock it if you pay the $20 or whatever to get the new characters and lobby stuff.

Or is this a bad idea?

My only guess is that SF4 is designed in such a way that that is an infeasible solution, but it's hard to say. Again, though, you're going to run into the potential situation where someone with the DLC is going to encounter someone without it online, and they'll have to find a way to address that, which will most likely require a patch, which is again more work for everyone.

I understand what you're trying to say, but this is Capcom. Capcom loves to milk the hell out of every franchise they can. How many versions of SF2 were released? Exactly.

SF4 is here to stay probably for at least the next few years. SF5 will come, but only when they are perfectly sure it will sell a couple of million more units, AND they think they are gonna be able to milk the crap out of that one too.

That said, I think that they will release some more content for this iteration. I don't know about extra chars or anything like that, but they want to keep the hype up. They could do that just by providing a better online experience.Just my 2 cents.

I just hope that we don't see a SF4: 2nd down or SF5 for at least another year.

But that is only because I am putting a lot of work into this game and I hate the idea of having to get past ANOTHER big learning curve in the near future.

Man, just keep the game music as it is. They don't include options in movies to swap out the score for your ipod playlist.
