3rd Strike Input Shortcuts

#1

So I’m practicing Ken’s kara DP, and I think “Man, it would be really nice to be able to shoryu from a crouching position.” So I mash punch and repeatedly motion DB, D, DF, D, DB, D, DF. And I unexpectedly got a shoryu. WTF, everyone said there’s no shortcuts in 3rd Strike. So this is what I learned:<br><br>Shoryu motion shortcut: DF, D, DF+P<br> It’s not as lenient as SF4, so you can’t be holding DF then just do D, DF+P.<br>You can hold DB or D then do DF, D, DF+P<br><br>Super Arts (qcfx2) shortcut:<br>D, DF, F, D, DF+P (This shortcut allows you to omit the last forward)<br>Or<br>D, DF, D, DF, F+P (This shortcut allows you to omit the first forward)<br><br>I’m uncertain of a hcf shortcut. It seems like you can omit the first B. But It’s hard to tell without an input display.<br><br>So how many of you guys knew this and what’s the 360 shortcut?<br>

Is there a shortcut for doing DP from down back?

Well, those people were wrong I guess. And yep, those are some shortcuts. The half circle ones are character specific. 360 is the same as always, 270.<br>

For the Super shortcut, you have to input the first QCF completely, so your first method is correct, you can end on DF.<div><br></div><div>You can “crouch dash” by starting from any direction and hitting DF, N, F. You can also use DB, UB or UF, but the up directions have to be hidden behind an animation or else you’ll jump…</div><div><br></div><div>Using the crouch dashing, you can get a dash Shoryuken input as though it was SF4. So, DF, N, F, D, DF + P. Normally you’d need 3 towards inputs to get that to come out. This can overlap with supers though, if you start from down…</div><div><br></div><div>If you hold down a button, you can go DF, B, F and you’ll dash forward. Yes this is weird, but works…</div><div><br></div><div>For charge characters, you can maintain your horizontal charge after a vertical charge by going to UB. This makes EX Headbutt to RH Tackle easier IMO.</div><div><br></div><div>Another shortcut… Is when you’re picking your character, any double button input will choose your RH color… ie. Fierce+Short=RH, lol</div>

Oh wow, crouch dashing! No wonder some Ryus I fought online would do a crouching jab then go straight into a dash. That would always mind fuck me because of the online frame skips. I’m glad some virtua fighter execution can be used here.<br><blockquote class=“Quote”>

Can you go into more detail in this one? I’m not getting the dash. And I should be holding an attack button?<br>

<font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>I doubt many people online know about the crouch dashing, I personally never heard of it before it was “discovered” around a month ago.</span></font><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>Yeah, you need to hold down any attack button/s and then hit a diagonal for the first “dash input”. ie: (Jab)-DB, D, F, N -> B. This would back dash, but also count as a towards parry. The inputs need to be done pretty fast. This was newly found around the same time.</div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”>Here’s it in action…</div><div style=“font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 10pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;”><br></div><div><font face=“Arial, Verdana” size=“2”><span style=“line-height: normal;”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AGiyoDTFg0</span></font><br></div>

Man, you really do have to do it fast. My hand fatigued quickly. I got the HCB, N, F accomplished. Gonna need a lot more work to get the HCF, N, B.<br><br>Crouch dashing and learning from Alex Sanchez that you can dash cancel jabs opens up so many new approaches to a match. Thank you for all the tips.<br>

Wat?<br>

besides the ones posted above:

you can input zenpo as 624 instead of 63214. Too my knowledge this is the only half circle command throw that can be inputed this way.

karakusa for example doing 624 won’t work, however you can do 3214 instead of 63214 and it’ll still come out.

Not sure how useful the zenpo short cut is but the karakusa one is just trivia lol.

Sorry telesniper I don’t understand your video lol. From what I acquired from your video, I learned that if you’re in a down back crouch position, you can do the first input for dash as 3 then 4 instead of 4 then 4.

Zenpou shortcut will double as parry attempst, so there is some use there for sure, I’ve seen K.O. use it with good success. The Karakusa shortcut is awesome for grabbing tatsu and other moves that would otherwise cross you up in the corner/midscreen if you were to input towards first.</span><div><span style=“font-style: normal;”><br><blockquote class=“Quote”>

If you look at the inputs closer, I’m basically doing a half circle back, then a towards. This doesn’t dash, </span><i>unless</i> you are holding a button down… The important input is the DF though, F, D, N, F won’t dash, but F, DF,D, N, F will. Using this, you can actually walk backwards a few frames before dashing. IE. DF, N, B…, F. There is no indication that you would dash doing this as there is zero hesitation between walking backwards and dashing towards. Normally, people can react to dashes easier when they see that first slight step forwards. They can’t see this if you do crouch dashing, or the button holding thing.<div style=“font-style: normal;”><br></div><div style=“font-style: normal;”>NOTE: I don’t see that held button dash tech being too useful, the inputs need to be pretty fast and you have to start the directional inputs from a standing position… holding a button while crouched and inputting DF, D, N, B, F won’t dash… </div></div>

lol i finally understand what telesniper is talking about with this dash glitch.<br><br>any idea if it would make a difference if you’re buffering the F, DF, D, N during a move? I was thinking in the case of Gouki’s 2 hit RH tatsu juggle, if you held RH when you did the tatsu, then did F, DF, D, N while the move is finishing, then F right after, it could make dash shoryu easier than having to do F, F, F, D, DF+P<br>

<br><div>With holding any button, you’d have to go: F, DF, D, N, F, then DF+P. The timing on this is fairly tight, so I wouldn’t recommend it… However… There is an easier way, IMO…</div><div><br></div><div>w/ No button held after the 2 hit RH Tatsu: UF (yes, trust me…), N, F, D, DF+P. I swear this makes it easier, also, you don’t need to go exactly from neutral to UF, you can go U, UF, then N, F. OR, you even go U, UF, F, N, F, D, DF+P. This still does a dash Shoryu, the important part in these types of shortcuts is to return the stick to neutral from either a diagonal, or F/B. ie. going UF, U, N, F will not dash, unless you are holding in a button…</div><div><br></div><div>The reason why UF makes this easier, is because it can’t possibly overlap with SA1… I now do this every time when executing normal double Fukiage’s with Makoto. I go UF, N, F, DF, D, DB+P, which is a dash to reverse Fukiage. Because this doesn’t overlap with Supers in anyway, you can even Kara (cr.RH) the second Fukiage with the same motion, but with less “aggressive” stick movement…</div><div><br></div><div>Hope that helps. I was saving the UF trick for a video, but I’ve been slacking in the recording department as of late, so there you go = )</div>

Necro-Bumppp. Get this stickied someone? Useful thread is useful.

Its like those MOV/kuroda option selects mixed with SGGK. I have a reason to go into training mode now.

Thanks telesniper.

PS - fuck Makoto
