Thanks to everyone for coming out. I’ll have to see if I can get something bigger and badder next year for this since there was so much space and time available.

To whoever Kirk is, I have $5 for you. Not sure where you ran off to but if you come to the next monthly, I’ll hook you up.

Dude, that setup they had was CRAZY. I mean, honestly, if they have the same setup next year, we should totally see if we can’t get a larger space (like, the other half of that cafeteria) and go apeshit with setups and attendance and that FGC hype. Might even get some converts. At the end of the night, a few of the guys migrated in and were playing Smash before I had to pack up, and I can’t imagine everyone else wasn’t slightly curious what the hell we were all yelling about during Mario Party 2. :stuck_out_tongue: Really, though, with that much time and space and concessions on site and no venue fee and no risk of losing a bunch of money on renting the venue itself and oh my GOD that’s like a tourney organizer’s wet DREAM right there.

I agree, and next time I’ll try to get as much as I can out of the deal. The ONLY hindrance I can see for this to have a crazy high attendance is the location. Every single thing about this venue and whatnot is amazing exact where it is. It’s not far from Coralville/IC, but it still requires a little drive to get there. BUT, the way they finagled it, they had people stay overnight, you just had to bring your own sleeping bag/etc.

Obviously, we’ll cross this bridge when we get there, but if we can figure out the sleeping arrangements, I see no reason why we can’t partner up with them and get a crazy huge event going on. Hell, I think they were even offered MORE space than what you saw there; they just had no reason to use it.
