A List of Fighting Game Website links

#1

I thought it would be helpful to provide a list of links to fighting game websites that I frequently visit. New players may not know about these sites and this list can be helpful. If anyone wants to add their own links that would also be helpful. I also want to post the Youtube channels for some of these sites. If the youtube links don’t belong in this fourm just post here or PM me and I’ll take them down. If the youtube links are ok I want to add more youtube channels that aren’t directly related to the websites posted here.

Good stuff, man. This is really one of those things that someone should’ve been done a loooong time ago, hahah.

I had a huge list of bookmarks on my computer until the hard drive cheaped out on me. I’ll try to post ones I know as I remember them.

Normally called “VFDC” (stands for Virtua Fighter Dot Com), this is unquestionably the most important site for English-speaking VF players. It also might be the only one, haha.

I think it would be cool if we could get a list of sites for other countries too.

Here’s the UK’s main site.
http://www.neoempire.com/
These are their two biggest tournaments.
http://www.battleofdestiny.com/
http://www.supervsbattle.com/

This is a thread (from here, SRK) that lists a lot of sites for other countries. It’s SF3-centric and probably a little out-of-date by now, though. I haven’t sifted through any of it and I wouldn’t know where to start.

Most (pure) arcades don’t have websites. “Amusement centers” usually just have promotional websites with no news or forums.
Here are sites for two more well-known American arcades.
http://www.denjinarcade.com/
http://arcadeinfinity.blogspot.com/
TGA (Tokyo Game Action) still has their site up (the arcade itself actually closed a year ago, sad story) but I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with fighting games anymore; only the local music games players still post there. I won’t bother posting the link.

Godfist, you probably won’t want to add these to the list until we get some clarification. I’m just bringing them up to get talk going.

I know the SNK games are really splintered, but that’s all I know.
Here are two of the bigger KOF boards.
cyberfanatix.com - includes a Spanish section
orochinagi.com - seems very organized
This is the only SS board I’ve ever seen.
i-level.ca/heavenly/forum - looks tiny but high activity for such a small site
I don’t know if any other SNK series or titles have dedicated boards.
Someone who actually knows the scenes for these games should be talking about this instead of me.

Mortal Kombat:
What was the name of the old main competitive MK site that closed last year? I’m talking about the one where all the boards are locked but you can still read everything. Which one is the site that everyone uses now?

Yes, I remember UltimateMK.com. Actually I just checked and the site is still there. Lots of Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 matches there along with current news on the Mortal Kombat series.

Also www.soulcalibur.com is still there, but it’s more of an official site and looks like it’s about the Soul Calibur for PSP. It used to have a nice forum run by WCMaxi I think which included a sub forum for video matches. Then it got taken over by Namco (I guess anyway) and it’s an official Namco site. So the forum got moved to www.caliburforum.com but now that is defunct, at least the last time that I checked. Anyone know what happened to the forum?

I found one a few weeks back: http://up-your-game.com/

The page is brand spanking new (I think it got made early 2010), and it’s more like a social network site for games, where you can make groups, blog, and post on each other’s walls. It’s actually a lot like the forums here, but it’s not a forum (they have a forum though). In any case, they’ve had two exclusive interviews so far, one with J. Wong and one with Gootecks. They also have some online tourneys.

got your message bro…

The only 3 sites that matter for high level MK are:

www.UltimateMK.com (UMK3 heavy, but the forums were down for about all of 2009, but Shock reopened the Tournament forums last month)

www.MortalKombatEmpires.com (new site, but is a great one already)

www.ClassicMK.com (2d heavy, MKII in particular. great site that was started with the people who posted at UMK.com before it was closed)

FTR, i am a mod on 3 of these sites, so if anyone has any questions, comments, info, etc feel free to PM me.

Thanks deadfrog. :coffee:
